7:10 - I have to correct you, that is NOT the 1st Garuda livery from 1949. It's the 2nd, from 1969. The 1st Garuda livery from 1949 can be seen on one of their 737s, PK-GFM. PK-GHC, along with GPZ, GHA, and GHD, are not refurbished; the seats are as they are currently right from the factory (now...why on earth did GA not refurbish their older A330s is beyond me). It’s great to see 6′4″ and you both together on the videos. Garuda had direct flights from CDG to DPS years ago prior 2020 but they had drastically reduced their European flights after the pandemic and nowadays I guess only Amsterdam is still operating in codeshare with KLM. wow CDG DPS didn't expect that. Probably more demand soon as Indonesia will be dropping the visa requirement for some non-Asean nationals, likely French and Aussies included :)
@@JaydenWong basically EU citizens do not require a visa for Indonesia if we stay less than 30 days. I guess Garuda had cut off most European routes coz they were in a very bad financial situation and it worsened after the pandemic. Hope you enjoy Bali.

24:00 The light brown bits on white rice is "bawang goreng" or fried shallots. Indonesians like to add this condiment to any food, whether it be rice congee, mie goreng, soups, gado gado salad. Surprisingly the Danish add this condiment too: when I was in Copenhagen they serve hotdog with fried shallots and is commonly found in their supermarkets. I thought it was an Indonesian thing.

What a great outlook on an airline that my ex-wife and I flew back in the the late 90's on our 2nd of 3 visits to Bali. Sadly back then Garuda didn't have a great reputation, but your video showed a complete different view of an airline that I never thought of flying with. As for your vlog at the end it will come in handy when I visit June 2024 after officiating at the Darwin V8's as an official for the 11th time. It was nice to see the return of your buddy (hehe) 6'4'' on one of your trips. 10 out of 10 again Jayden

I remember Garuda in the bad old days when it had a questionable safety record, poor service and unreliable flight schedule. Glad to know the airline has come far from those dark days and its much improved in safety, service and reliability.
@@rachkate76 I don't think she helped the airline much, reputation-wise. haha. Gaurda's planes were crashing left and right when she was doing the commericals for them. In fact, at one point, Garuda was banned from flying to the EU because of it's poor safety record. Although to be fair, this wasn't a problem unique to Garuda, as the rest of the Indonesian airlines generally had a dreadful safety reputation, airlines like Adam Air had a notorious record of skipping on maintenance and making the regulators look the other way. Then the Indonesian authorities finally decided enough was enough, they needed to do something to improve their airlines. Adam Air was shut down. Garuda was overhaul in management and safety became a priority focus.

Hi Jayden. Last Week I flew Garuda Back To Indonesia For holiday, but I stop In Jakarta. I flew a330-300 in older version. About food, I love beef rendang with turmeric Rice. The drink selection also very impressive, a lot of choice and the crew also very friendly. Love your Trip Report with Garuda. 👍👍

That day when you fly, I actually saw ur plane from my home and the view out of Sydney is always stunning. I just flew with them last week, but on an older A330-300 which is quite outdated tbh. The seat looks indeed a bit more on narrow side, but I'm actually okay with it. The drink service before the meal service is great, I forgot last week if I got drink before my meal or not. The voml actually looks promising, compared to many airlines I'd seen through your video. Beef rendang is always amazing, especially with turmeric rice, I also ordered the beef and it was so good, but it's a little different with this one. The bun is also different, mine was boring because it's just a plain bread lol, good on you for getting the one with sesame. Fyi, I think this particular plane isn't refurbished, it's a fresh and new airplane delivered to Garuda in 2016. Considering the price, if you want a full-service on your journey Garuda is a good one to pick, Qantas on the other hand can be an option but they only did 1 service in my past flight with them to Denpasar (from Melbourne). Nice trip report Jaydenn, as an Indonesian, I feel happy that you enjoyed the flight with Garuda Indonesia. Happy new yearr and see you next year, can't wait for your next trip report.
I was quite impressed and very happy with the meal I got! Shame you didn't get the sesame on the bun haha. Interesting that Qantas only did one service, would've thought at least another drink service before landing. thanks for sharing!
4:06 It reminds me during COVID when some trams in Melbourne wore masks at both ends to remind passengers that it was mandatory to wear one on public transport :)
Great video and I love your desire to continue to try new airlines. 2 questions, firstly do you prefer the footrest or would you rather more legroom and secondly Conrad or Hilton Bali?
Thanks Oscar! More legroom for sure! I barely use the footrest (and leg rest in premium) Hilton felt newer but further away from the airport and mainland, so it’s a bit more expensive to Grab if you go out everyday. Supposed to have a nice beach but it was under construction. Conrad has nicer pools but rather terrible beach😩 Breakfast very good in both locations!

I haven’t been to Bali in so long- seeing just another shitfaced bogan there is my biggest turnoff. Looks like you all had a great time. haha high five! I'm a Hilton guy too. Hilton Bali was the only beach resort in Asia I ever stayed at haha. I tried Fiji too, very nice pools but rooms a bit tired and out. Beach is meh too. Conrad HK for the view. Hilton Odawara (about 1-2 hours from Tokyo) for the onsen and massive property. I'm sure they are some very nice ones in Okinawa island too. Hilton Singapore is the largest Hilton in Asia Pacific, with over 1000 rooms. The lunch buffer is affordable and a must try even if you're not staying there. Doubletree Noumea in New Caledonia (not quite Asia) has overwater bungalows. Very affordable compared to Maldives. But watch out for swimming ban when there are sharks around. What about recommendations from you, would love to hear :)
Awesome! I'll look those up. Well the Conrad and Waldorf Astoria are great properties in Mexico, specifically Tulum and Cancun. The Tulum beach was not the best though. Our first trip to Asia is going to be Bangkok in Fall of this year. Love the Conrad in NYC but of course no beach there! Conrad St. James in London us a great location, great Diamond perks but smallish rooms.
Garuda looks really good in economy. The food also looks amazing. Bali is definitely on my bucket list and looks like a great time. Happy New Year Jayden!❤✈️🎊🎉
Whole Indonesia is food heaven, BTW world map is inaccurate since Mercator projection 1569, real Indonesia is huge as Russia and even much richer than the rest of the world. Even Australia and Madagascar Africa were part of Indonesia before western stole them.
Cheap flights to Sydney from SFO for Madi Gras in March 2024. Grabbing two now, less than $1000.00. Just flew Swiss Air SFO to ZRH in first class. JUST AMAZING!!!! FYI ….6’4” can easily stretch out on the beds with a glass of Salon champagne and then go behind the curtain to visit you in 56A. 😂😂😂❤

Your hair was kind of wild in November! Nice review and vlog. The flight looked........ "fine" (as one of my friends would say), but it really didn't seem to have much of a "wow" factor. Like great, two full drink services, bur you also get those on US transcons which are of similar length. You and 6'4 are absolutely adorable together in this video. Happy New Year!
well it was Movember, but I let it grow on my head🤣 True but I appreciated how all services included alcohol, with Qantas they usually cut alcohol for the second service, but you can still request them to get it from galley

Their meals, drink service, amenity kits and the amenities in the toilet are Business Class level.

One of benefit if you fly down to Indonesia with Garuda, you'll get best or closer arrival gate, usually you wouldn't need to take long walk to Immigration.

Impressive Trip report on GA A330-300. When it comes for for 6'4"will you try having him seat in a PR A321neo A321ceo A350-900 A330-300 B777-300er A320ceo future A350-1000 3-4-3 fiesta class seats since both of you did CX/KA/UO versions of the same planes that PR has. GA is a 5 star Skytrax airline like Skyteam partner KE. 1:41 UX merge with IB in the future, meaning 6'4" he needs a CX or QF FFQs to access an IB lounge I can list the 5 star Skytrax rated airlines that fly to MNL and these are CX,JL,QR Oneworld Alliance Star Alliance SQ,OZ,BR and NH Skyteam Alliance KE GA codeshares on PR CGK-MNL. Regarding the Garuda Indonesia Beef Rendang it does equal a Korean air Bulgogi/Bibimbap and CX Duddells meal since all three beat a PR Chicken Rice which is Chopsuey or Beef Rice the Tagalog Bistec. A330-343X wise GA = CX = MU > PR in my opinion. I wonder if the Garuda Indonesia A330-343X is AC plug equipped like the CX/MU versions are or USB only like PR 7:03 7:27 5J A330-900 also bound to MNL like the PR A330-343X. That one is also a tight seat in economy class like the PR A330-343X, which replaced their A330-301s

Poor 6’4, looked squished on the plane and then all the such glamorous close ups! The rolling on the bed, maybe keep that for a different video site 😉 lol!! I have never had an interest to go to Bali, I don’t see where people get the love for it other than value.
