Glad to hear that .I know of the pain through watching a friend fight I got a dear good good friend that's kind as gold to everyone But not kind to himself..He can't shake the demons. .He'll stop for a good while -then run and play catch up .and its nothing short of a cluster F**K. . I can't walk away from him and just let him be ..Cause I've seen how defenseless he is when hes drinking heavy .(I know he will kill himself ) or someone... I have to be there for him Cause even though it aint that easy.. I m afraid not to be.. How much more can a heart/mind take of that stuff..Ive lost too many friends to cancer and heart disease ... I cant bare to lose him to that way.

For the record, this song, originally played by the Danny Frazier Band, was written by Greg Barnhill, Jim Diddario, and Cole A. Degges. It hurts to see big Nashville record companies and their artist's get all of the credit. Don't get me wrong, Gary Allan sings his heart out here, but didn't write the song.

dinamariepope I listened to alot of Gary Allans other albums after hearing this, and I was a bit disappointed as it all seemed quite shallow compared to this song. Something didnt fit so I did some investigating and sure enough Gary Allan didn't write this song. He actually didn't write 8/10 most popular singles and the ones he did he 'co wrote'. That kinda killed it for me, Cole Degges of Cole Deggs & the Lonesome originally wrote this particular song. So if anyone else was puzzled by the discrepancy in quality of this song compared to alot of his others, theres your answer. That said he performs it well enough to convince you he wrote it, but im looking for a true country 'artist Are there any left? Suggestions please.

Marc w not to mention the voice is completely on point, that has a big effect. his deep raspy voice adds to the depth and draws you in to listen. like i said i have been listening to Gary Allan ever since his career started and this is one of his better most honest songs, you almost literally feel his pain, thats what music is supposed to do!

Marc w you should read a bit about Gary's life and the music that has been a product of certain tragedies in his life. This song, I suspect, is about the suicide of his late wife.
