@@skipper4126 there were rockers before even Chuck. Rock n Roll was grown by many many people I'm sad to see it's almost asleep these days though. There are very few big Rock n Roll bands anymore.
2016 is gone and we lost a great many celebrities. Somehow it does not seem strange to be rocking to music by musicians who have been gone almost 60 years . Thank goodness fofr You Tube and the gentleman who uploaded this clip
So sad that Eddie Cochran died in a car crash as he was heading for Liverpool to play and meet the Beatles! RIP All you guys Buddy, Eddie John Lennon etc, etc., etc
Mr Mental, no that's wrong. He was actually in a taxi on the way from Bristol to the airport in London with his girlfriend Sharon and Gene Vincent. He wasn't going to meet the Beatles at all, in fact they were only newly formed in 1960. He was the only one who died and the taxi driver was found guilty of reckless driving. He received a very small fine and was banned from driving for 15 years. Small price to pay for killing someone.
people in bands have sensitive egos, if they feel slighted or don't get recognition they don't handle it well I spent lots of yrs. around bands---over 20--saw this problem many times, with women it's really bad--so glad I'm done with all that.
As I remember the story, the promoters wanted Buddy Holly, but not the Crickets. Initially Holly was loyal to his bandmates and insisted they play with him against the wishes of the show promoters, but eventually he moved on. It was sad, but that's how promoters and managers were in those days.
i am not a jerry lee fan but this heavey buitar version rock me and the sad realizzaton by buddy.s drummmer that buddy has moved on already is poignant i listen to this rendiiton practically every night never get rired of it
Jerry Zaremba. On drums is Richie Hayward of Little Feat, on bass is David Miner from Leon Russell's band and on piano is John Jarvis, keyboardist for Rod Stewart's band.
'Buddy Holly's musicians' were sidelined here by 'Eddie Cochran's musicians.' It is slow, public, and cruel to be sidelined. Elvis Presley's guitarist Scotty Moore was sidelined by Col. Parker and Elvis. George Harrison in the Beatles was sidelined by John Lennon and Paul MacCartney see 'Let it Be' doco.) It's a cruel fact of this business.
He suddenly realized that the Crickets had become Buddy Holly and the Crickets, and soon to be just Buddy Holly. I like the way they played this scene.
