Awesome. I listened to Gary Byrd's radio shows in the early 2000s, and they were mind-blowing and life-changing. The man is a priceless repository of the global African experience.

I love this, such a very big part of my teenage years and very inspirational. Gary is so very articulate. at the age of 53 I now have a Master of Science, a PhD, and a Law Degree (all started in my mid 40's) I am a 6'2 bald white man, I look like a racist, but that is the picture media has painted of me, so, forget the politicians, and the social media, we are all family, and all originally from Africa, much love. xx

yeah, Radio 1 on a Saturday afternoon, around '84 or '85. Live from NY. (but I guess he wouldn't have been the first Black DJ on the network as Dixie Peach probably would had been there then)

No Kurt's Blow sounds like Gary, Gary inspired many to create Rap, LL Cool J is the only artist that gave him credit, search "Every Brother Ain' t A Brother " released around 1972. He's in the Hip Hop Hall of Fame
