Gary's performance The Messiah Will Come Again live at Montreux is probably his finest moment which is hard to say considering how many fine performances this man put out during his career.
Gary was one of the best in the world no doubt.. tou should see the messiah will come again live montreaux og the loner live in sweden or still got the blues live at hammersmith 1990 just to name a few.. he never dissapoints live.
Seen him play live a couple of times, solo and with thin lizzy. Just an epic guitarist. The guitar helped, famed for its sustain, used to belong to Peter Green of early fleetwood mac fame. Next with Gary, currently owned by Kirk Hammett. Known as 'Greeny', possibly the most famous Les Paul guitar in the world...
This is a great verson but the greatest is the Montreux 2010 version, the crowd are swaying from the beginning and his runs, feel and invention are extraordinary.
Nice video, nice reaction! :) If you are into guitars: Have you ever heard of "Tommy Emmanuel"..? He is a "Certified Guitar Player" (CGP). As far as I know, there are currently only 5 guitar players with this title on this planet. So he is known to be one of the best and you can't go wrong with listening to him! Maybe start with a known, easy one: "Classical Gas [Mason Williams] | Tommy Emmanuel". Enjoy! :)
It's certainly subjective....but Hendrix isn't even in my top 5. He was great at creating a lot of different sounds and noise from a guitar but not at creating an emotional attachment to what he was playing.
