Gary "Mudbone" Cooper's performance with Deee-Lite on _Saturday Night Live_ way back in February 1991 is still TO. DIE. FOR. His voice so beautifully complemented the Lady Miss Kier's and in that brief-but-beautiful moment in pop culture history, that band never sounded better, even without having performed "Groove is in the Heart."

Good to hear from Gary "Mudbone" Cooper. His multi-octave voice and ultra high falsetto is all over the P-funk albums as well as Bootsy's Rubber Band. I'm really glad Mudbone didn't fade into the shadows of Funkadelic history. Good stuff, man !

'Bone dropped so many bombs of knowledge in this short interview. Learning that he played the original drums on P-Funk (Wants to get Funked Up) was worth the price of the ticket alone! All this time, I assumed that it was Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey. Also, learning that Bootsy got the idea for Stretchin' Out from some drummin' over in Africa... mind blown in the best of ways.

Thank you for the awesome interview. I just watched Bootsy’s jazz a Vienne, and wondered where Mudbone was. I’m glad to here that he’s doing well. I saw Bootsy twice in San Francisco and was able to talk to bootsy at the Fillmore and asked where Gary mudbone Cooper was because I couldn’t hear his distinctive vocals in the mix.Bootsy said,he right behind you. I wanted to say something, but I was to shy.His vocals are so unique.Much luv.

HOW THE FUNK CAPITAL OF THE WORLD IS FIGHTING TO KEEP ITS LEGACY ALIVE IN DAYTON OHIO! Stephen StarrJUN 19 2019. When Dayton’s The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center - aka TheFunkCenter - opened in December 2017, locals delighted in it marrying a proud musical tradition with hope for the revival of a city long down on its luck. Built to celebrate the Ohio city’s reputation as ground zero of the funk world, the center drew volunteers and experts from the Netherlands, Japan and the U.K. and superstar names from Dayton’s 1970s and ’80s funk scene, who pieced together the decades-old instruments, records and memorabilia on display. Tickets to the opening ceremony sold out in days. www.ozy.com/fast-forward/how-the-capital-of-funk-is-fighting-to-keep-its-legacy-alive/94512 GoFundMe donation link for The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center.
