Indeed. At least he shows some style with this album and image. The latest Numan incarnation is tragic beyond words. He's no heavy metaller so I don't understand the head banging.
Terribly underrated when it was released. I bought it on 12". I think the rock feel to it wasn't popular at the time. I loved it then and I still love it now.
I bought this record for 20p in woolies bargain bin...His record company/management/whoever over estimated how well this single was going to do and made far too many as it didn't do as well as they thought.
@@escaton74 Oh yeah Numa Records. By this point I think his fan base was starting to dwindle away. Yeah he had his die hard fans who were there from the start, but the audience numbers at his gigs were pretty poor.
@@StrawberrySunday212 I only discovered him with that image when being ten years old. I guess the look was impressive for kids. I wanted to dress up like that but mum wasn't having it
@andy morris I've never heard of Rusty Egan being associated with Dramatis, this must be an error. Rusty was with Visage and Cedric worked with him/Visage on Fade to Grey (the drum machine in the beginning is Ced's CR68). The only thing I can find regarding this situation is a quote made in 2013 after Ced died by Rusty that stated "I hope to play drums with RRussell Bell and Chris Payne in DRAMATIS"
Lots of factors for the decline, IMHO... First year as an independent label, so no major backing, terrible press, there were some superbly produced bands in 1984, Numan just wasn't mainstream and by this stage he was pretty marginalised and ridiculed...
@@kimberlymason1060 Although I already knew the story, I appreciate your sharing of some knowledge. I love his Bass lines and his passing was such a waste.
I'm a Numan fan from the start and through this period and beyond ...the image was too weird and I think that made the stuff interesting only to the numan devotees some good songs off this album and then a decline followed...
