Yep, Basement Jaxx sampled it. Gary is one of the most sampled artists ever, people don't realise it only Numan fans spot the samples hidden in the track. Thanks for playing it Jon.

Gary inspired alot of other artists, criminality underrated by the majority of the public. On top of that, he's a lovely guy and a loving father. What's not to like.

As a keyboard player, you should do a deep dive into Gary's discography. Those who only know him for "Cars" really miss out. This and Cars are from the same album, which came out in 1979. Gary doesn't following trends, he set the trends.

This is an 80s song from the 70s. It only took 40 years for people to understand Numan is a genre to himself.

I like early Gary Numan (and The Tubeway Army), "I'm Praying to the Aliens" and "Down in the Park". Numan's early stuff was inspired by steampunk-type comics. Unfortunately, I am on Social Security and cannot afford to go on every reactor's Patreon, but I would like to hear more Nina Hagen. Other 1970/80s people/bands I like are 1)Lene Lovich, 2)Lydia Lunch (NoWave), 3) X, 4) Einsturzende Neubauten (Industrial), 5) Psychic TV, 6) The Plasmatics, 7) The Stooges, 8) PIL, 9) Au Pairs, 10) Chumbawamba, 11) Crass, and 12) Christian Death w/ Rozz Williams. Those are just SOME of my favs.

I was at this concert (in Sydney, Australia) - it was awesome. Fun fact: the guy on the keyboard (camera left, stage right) is Steve Harris. He's TOTALLY faking it - he's a guitarist and doesn't play the keyboard. But the song in question comes from Numan's 1979 album "The Pleasure Principle", which famously had ZERO guitars whatsoever. Ditto the bass player (Tim Muddiman). Only the keyboardist David Brooks and the drummer Richard Beasley Numan himself is singing live but he's faking playing the keyboard. Everything else was prerecorded. :)
