"Where did you go? Where have you been?" Why does she act like Numan just disappeared after "Cars?" He had a ToTP presence well into the '80s. Do people act like Telekon through Berserker didn't even happen? The Fury through Metal Rhythm? Also, Outland is underrated.
I remember the tour when Machine and Soul was the opener, brilliant. He knew how to make an entrance back then, really build up the atmosphere and make everyone go mental! Not really the same anymore reaction anymore.
M&S the album I don't think is very good - but it's better than Outland! Outland is the depressing sound of someone who's exhausted a formula but can't think of anything else to do. At least he tries a few new things on M&S - the Prince cover (which I like), the verbosity of Generator and Poison... To me, he looks prematurely aged in this clip! Needed another hair transplant, for one thing.
Aw c'mon you guys be a little objective here! The overall look was bad (Kipper in spandex and with the Kenny G hair) and the music was shite. There is no way in hell you can appreciate Jagged and Machine & Soul equally. If Numan's name had not been associated with this, most of you would of passed it on by.
@@outpost31737 Thanks, you've just proven my point. If you like Machine and Soul then you shouldn't be liking Jagged and vice versa. Those albums are so different one from the other that they could literally be by a different artist. However, some fans aren't able to be critical of his music and end up liking anything with the Numan name on it.
Numan hasn't had a good album since 88, he's the eternal misanthrope recycling the same lyrical themes with a goth rock sound 15 years out of date. Such a shame
I've said pretty much the same. Everything after M&S is just formulaic and just repeating the same old. I know he's more successful now than he was in the mid to late 80s, but back in the 80s each album was different. He does deserve every bit of success though after the lean years of the 80s/early 90s
