On location in Green Cove Springs, FL March 2019 I do not own the music associated with this video - all rights belong to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Please follow my band here: • Run Like Hell as perfo... #Gary Rossington RIP
~ Greatest Moment Of My Life Was Meeting Gary Rossington * It was an experience i will Never Forget .. I was backstage at a SKYNYRD Show in 2017 here in Southern California, and i was wearing an old SHOWCO shirt, Gary walked up, shook hands with me, placed his left hand on my chest, right on the SHOWCO logo, looked at me and said: That’s Sum Good Stuff Right Thar ~ I Was Blown Away ..! God Bless LYNYRD SKYNYRD 🎸🎸🎸🙏
I went to St John River Community College in Palatka in the early to mid 70s. In the morning the students from Clay County around Green Cove would come in the student center and sometimes have stories about what was going on down at the Hell House. I don't remember it being called that back then but I knew they were rehearsing in a shack.
I've lived in FL all of my life and I'm so sickened by what this state has become. Why does every piece of vacant land have to be built on and destroyed? If I had the money, I would buy this property and keep it as it is. There has to be someone out there that can do this! Please preserve this beautiful historic land in it's natural state!
Very cool guys.. my wife and I I just walked in from viewing the solar eclipse an I picked up my laptop and started watching Hell House which was incredibly heart felt❤Thank you😊
Ronnie wrote the words to Freebird on that creek. Well he memorized the words because Ronnie wrote songs in his head and never wrote anything down. I met Billy Powell and he was the nicest guy. Very humble. He told me how Freebird got him from a roadie to a band member. He also told me Ronnie had no injuries from his neck down. He died from trauma to the head.
Your too young to know any of these guys they'd be in their late 70's early 80's... doesn't your handle 89 code for your DOB? My grandson was born in 89
The photo at 3:39 from left to right, Ed King, Leon Wilkson, Billy Powell, Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins and Artimus Pyle. Sadly only Gary and Artimus are still alive. I miss old Ed, congestive heart failure plagued him for years, he wanted to play drums but his mom saved up enough money and bought him a dime store classical guitar instead because it made less noise, the rest is history.. He did love his BBQ though.
"Hell house" was concrete block building with maybe 4 windows ! June 1972 I walked thru the door and asked my friend why L. S. had all their equip boxes in there. He says:"dude, this us Lynyrd Skynyrd" And that's the day I met my favorite band for life !
Nice, I live right down the road from there about a mile down Hwy 17. It sucks they are building this area up, that used to be one of my favorite spots to go back and fish.
I would love to throw a line in just to say I've fished the same hole as them boys. I wonder how much for the lot? Perhaps someone could buy the lot & preserve it somehow.
@@tball3071 that's cool ! I'm from srq played I'm bands for years there ! There is a few places we would practice out in fruitvill n myacha city that looks like that !!!!
Absolutely! I see a pattern here. Same thing with Muddy Waters house, M F Jimi Hendrix’s HOUSE ! Let’s not let it happen to Edward Van Halen’s. ! ....No respect. And no love. Everybody’s so proud and waves flags for Lynyrd Skynyrd, but don’t give a rats ass about the site where they wrote the first 2 albums Could rebuild Hell House, but “ they “ don’t want that kind of riff raff in their neighborhood now .......
Was it all burnt, nothing to save? I'd've thought they'd want to preserve & celebrate the place where such amazing, world famous, music was crafted; typical 'Price of everything, value of nothing' developers - But they can't take away the songs 😎 www.claytodayonline.com/stories/bulldozers-cant-wipe-away-the-musical-history-of-hell-house,17439
Love seeing this, thanks. Such a beautiful, special place; wish they'd leave it alone! Like the hanging moss, don't get it in UK; looks ethereal. Ed King said playing next to the water was great; 'music & water go real well together'😊 Developers are money motivated but still shocks me the band history isn't more valued, all the amazing, iconic music created in Hell House, & the recording studio. They can never take the music tho'! 😎💕
Real cool Tim .i been gettin me some Skyn since 1976 when i bought One more from the Road after hearing Second Helping . They still r and always will be in heavy rotation on my tune box . Canada .
That's what I never understood is why the Hell House wasn't preserved in anyway. Or why wasn't it deemed a historical thing for the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd. They have a plaque and everything in front of the child hood home of Ronnie's so why not this place. We're loosing a lot of are historical things from the past this is one great example of it. This truly should've been preserved and the old dock where the fished . Do you know how many songs were written on that old dock and in that house I mean if everything around there could talk could you imagine the stories that could be told. Hell the new songs that could be written from there. We' ll never know now and it's a shame it really is. Long Live The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band and Southern Rock.
I was there in October, a man bought the lot where Hell House was along with the area in front of the dock. He won’t develop it or let anyone build on it. Yay!! There was a house being built on the lot right next door to it☹️ It should be a national landmark so no one every builds on it. Love Lynyrd Skynyrd forever!❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
Gone but never forgotten. As long as those who remember the true Lynyrd Skynyrd band, they will never die. But when the last of those who remember are put to rest, then this great band will fall quite. Those of us who have yet to cross over, dam its going to be a party when we do. As for my brother's and sisters that have gone ahead of me, you lucky dogs!!!! You be jamming with the best now!!!!
It's been destroyed and sold to a couple. It's not accessible because it is inside a private gated community. All that remains is part of the dock where Ronnie fished and composed songs. There is a marker facing the water explaining what was once there.
Was just there last week. It’s the only lot left undeveloped but from what I gather there’s pressure to get it sold to build on. All that is left is the frame of the dock. We had to sneak in. We were on motorcycles so no doubt drew a lot of attention to ourselves. We didn’t stay long. My guess is someone would have approached us if we hung too long.
You can I bet you can still hear the music play through that valley it's terrible that people are not going to you know maybe make make a shrine out of that place you know instead of someone could at least put up a plaque a marker that they were there that's where it began there's a lot of blood and sweat and tears come from that place sacred ground Rock on
Talk about disrespect, money talks. Here in Buffalo, New York, there was McVans Nightclub on Niagara St. It was around in the early 20's until 80's when torn down for 7-11. Many big name musicians played there, Hendrix, etc. We performed there a few times, one of the dressing rooms was covered in signatures. No one thought to dismantle the room prior to tear down !
wow! you need to keep this video!! right where your standing i just saw a current video and there are houses EVERYWHERE!!!! even right where your standing they put a white house
The entire south eastern portion of the us.. from Jacksonville to Savannah ga is just about ruined by developers and outsiders moving here ...I know Ive been here all my life ..its sad to see..almost gone..in many ways its already gone
@@Zoetropeification WOW! No wonder theyre still open. Thats way overpriced. Peters Creek aint all that and paying an extra 200 grand for nostalgia is rediculous.
Unsure about that but what a great idea. I do know that the community is gated and the only way I was able to avoid the gates was to follow the train tracks back to the river and make a right to follow just a little way to where the house stood. I believe in time will also be impossible and the only way will be by boat.
@@timothysines682 I’ve founded three Florida Heritage sights. The latest at the birthplace of the Allman Brothers Band. Only viable way to do this is contact community management. Fact that they used song titles for streets is promising. Would like to know whose idea that was and approach them about the landmark idea.
You guys rock you died her lesbians you guys are the best one of my favorite bands of all time always will I listen to your music almost every day I've been in tribute bands for a long time play in your music play nope for note just like you guys did Lynyrd Skynyrd Rock on I love you guys engage for watching out for people when they're scamming on RU-vid yeah it's a bunch of crap isn't it it needs to go away you guys are great people rock on man
It's redundant to say, but oh how I wish, they hadn't got on that Conmore. I understand, how Ronnie felt about it. I mean, if your pilots, are telling you, "It's OK, we'll be fine, etc", along with their record label, I totally understood, where Ronnie was coming from. (Get on the plane or you're fired.) I feel the worst for Cassie. She definitely didn't want to board that plane. I sure wish they hadn't. Another thing, I wish they'd all made sure Ronnie was towards the back of the plane, not the front. Most of the fatalities, occurred in the front of the plane. Plus, I wish, Gene Odom, would've had more time to make certain, Ronnie was awake, and strapped. Odom always states, he thought he had heard, Ronnie, undo his seatbelt. It's really a mute point, since each person was in absolute fear for their own lives. Still, we can only imagine, the incredible songs, Ronnie Van Zant, could've written, had he survived. LS, the greatest rockband period.
@@stingylizard Yeah, but the plane was is real bad condition mechanically and he knew that. I'm 71 and lost a lot of friends to bad decisions because they were extremely head strong like Van Zant was.
@@MrSkinnn They ran out of fuel, which Ronnie Van Zant had nothing to do with. Peter Rudge and Eckerman were collecting and hoarding money, while cutting Skynyrd's over-all expenses. Thus,3rd rate plane...4th rate pilots. I am sorry about your friends;been there and it sux
Hell no ,hate gate, if they build on that site they'll be gator bait , they should deem these grounds sacred in regards to the historical relevance of the rock and roll royalty , my hat's off to all the fine crafting melodically melded into the most epic masterpieces of our time or anytime into the future by the prince of Dixie ( both a poet and profit) and his Southern knights of the battle axe Ivory warrior of the keyboard as well as the glorious & angelic sounds of the honkettes , long live the Rock of L🐊S!!!
The Lynyrd Skynyrd fans should bind together and unite and put their money together to buy that land and the pond and rebuild hell house and then make their money back by charging people to hang out at the hell house and fish from the docks and have fish fries and barbeques.
Who is buying the Hell House site . Just some yuppie ? its too bad someone with money couldnt step in and support preserving a unique site in American Music . They Gonna Pave paradise an put up a Parkin Lot !
Skynyrd guitar built from Hell House and Dock is COMPLETE. Build video here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xSYrLAxp76Y.htmlsi=YFEiFMidwHTC6AFx
A travesty of justice...it should be a national monument to the most awesome southern rock sound in history. If you love Skynyrd, you know every note and every lick. None like RVZ...Skynyrd is timeless...its forever.
When we go down to Jacksonville to visit relatives, I always make it a point to drive south into Middleberg, and drive slowly down Brickyard Road (where Ronnie Van Zant lived), and then wrap up the day at Whitey's Fish Camp (one of Ronnie's favorite hangouts). After all these years, I still get an eerie feeling that I'm retracing some of the same steps LS took.
Thank you so much for posting this - for a Canadian who can't get enough of Lynyrd Skynyrd - I saw Billy and Leon and Johnny in July 2001 when they were here in Toronto Canada - everyone stood up when they started Sweet Home Alabama -again thank you so much
You're very welcome! I'm a musician (Guitar) and actually played with Leon, he sat in with my band on 3 separate occasions. I really need to upload that audio soon.
