How did I not include Gatorade! Often times I'll fill my bottle with that so I have some calories and electrolytes as I get moving again. Also, I made it sound like I don't want much caffeine...that's normally not the case. We filmed this at 6pm last night which is why I didn't want much at that time. Morning or midday...I keep it pumping through my veins, haha!
Ha, that's my gas station stop, it's in Folsom right? The only problem is every 3rd time I go in they are out of the powdered sugar donuts! That's my ride snack latey.
A Coke (and/or Gatorade), Payday Bar is my go-to bar as it has 240 calories consisting of 7grams of protein, 13g of fat and 27g of carbohydrates per bar (I prefer this to a snickers in hot climates because it doesn't melt in your jersey pocket)..... and lastly, a salty bag of Kettle Brand Salt and Pepper which hit the spot to counter all the sugar.
My go to snacks are haribo golden bears (the ratio of glucose to fuctose is an ideal ratio for your body to absorb) or their cola bottle candy and a bag of Mrs. Vickis S&V.....i typically don't buy drinks but if i do its a coconut water and I mix in my electrolyte stick packs.....
I usually go for a coke and pastries to eat on the spot. And then I refill my 2 bottles with gatorade/pocari sweat and water on the other. After that I get a pack ir two of gummy bears depending on when the next stop is.
No that’s my bad I should’ve specified, I meant a rice crispies treat like the little block of the breakfast cereal held together with sugar and butter :)
very interesting topic. my favorite is a snickers for sure. :-) Always felt quilty for the coke but will make use of it more often. also a big fan of haribos for sure
For sodium I carry a small miniature packet of Himalayan Salt. I'll have enough for a whole day if need be. Very cheap alternative. Any drawbacks in this setup?
Thank you for all videos and tips. I have a question: I suppose that your recommendations are for them who has normal or low body fat. What do you recommend for them as me who wants to lose weight? Should I buy products that have lower calories and/or carbohydrates? Thank you!
Great question! No, I wouldn't opt for lower calorie options while riding. That's because you want to "fuel the work." Focus on ending the day in a caloric deficit. Check out the "Dialed Health Shred" protocol on my website to learn food tracking and guidelines.
Snickers and a Red Bull or Coke, is my go to. Definitely want to eat that Snickers like now tho, taking chocolate on a warm ride, is never a good option!
If I'm solo, I'll spend 5-10 minutes max at a gas station. With a group, I'll just go with the flow. Cafe stop though...I might be putting the feet up for a bit, haha! You?
@@dialedhealth yeah 10 minutes sounds about right taking also a few minutes to do some 10-20 seconds stretches. Maybe I’ll take more time for that bottle of Coke before burping my way up on the saddle 😂
Nope! It's the fuel your body needs in the moment. Of course the amounts vary depending on numerous factors, but refueling carbohydrate stores is a must for endurance athletes.
