I started a lawn business as a side gig using only electric. I did it because there are lot of dense suburban areas not too far from where i live with a lot of wealthly people looking for a quiet alternative. Many are willing to spend 150-200% for a quiet alternative. Right now, i dont think anyone is capitalizing on this niche demand in my area other than me. I run a battery isolator in my truck with a rack of secondary batteries that charge from an inverter on the go, also have an inverter-generator if need be.

Great video. It seems like other reviewers are getting paid to say electric is better no matter what. Im glad youre being honest here. Like you said, "MAYBE" push mowers are different and some battery electric push mowers can be better than some gas push mowers. But in general, its pretty clear that gasoline engines are stronger than the current electric motors theyre putting in mowers right now. They're going to need to increase the voltage if they want to compete with gasoline. And that will bring its own compromises with it as well. Like run time, battery size, weight, charging speeds, etc. It takes seconds to fill a gas tank. And with rising electricity prices, the gap between "fuel" (gas/electricity) prices is closing pretty quickly.

Yep they still have a long way to go in many regards but you probably wouldn’t notice a difference in smaller yards. People are mostly surprised with how nice electric mowers are. Just have limited applications

@@TheLawnReview The problem with run time can be addressed by getting spare batteries. But they’re expensive. However, I’ve noticed that the price of a tool with a battery included vs the tool only is relatively small. So by purchasing multiple tools that use the same battery but don’t need to use all the tools on the same job, you’ll end up with spare batteries for extra run time in your push mower And have time to charge one battery while using the others. For the non commercial user, I believe battery mowers are a great choice.

@@TheLawnReviewI honestly can’t see myself going back to gas for a push mower especially if I have a spare battery. But I think they still have a way to go before I’d be comfortable purchasing a battery operated riding mower

Great video - thanks for creating and sharing. I really wish the e mowers were better - I would buy one. Between the battery eating hilly yard and amount of grass I am cutting - it will be awhile for me I think.

Yeah I have tested a John Deere recently that was pretty slick. Didn't get to burn through the batteries but I think it can do 4 acres? I'll follow up soon

Good job. However, I would like to see you compare the bigger e-mower from Toro. It has 6 batteries and also includes the MyRide system, so it might be the better comparison to the gas mower you were using. I also know that by default Toro includes the low lift mowing blades on the e-mowers, but you can upgrade them to the same high lift blades that are included on their gas mowers. That would probably improve the lawn cut performance in your comparison. Of course that does eat up more battery.

I have a question between the ego 2206 and 2156 which one do you recommend? I have a small yard that takes about 15 minutes to cut. And right now I have a 24volt kobalt mower which sucks and doesn't have much power.

What's your budget? They're both great but I love the aluminum deck mower the most.

You should tell everyone how long it takes to charge and how long it takes to put gas in the tank it could take a couple days with the electric
@TheLawnReview

Takes about 4 hours to charge the batteries fully. Gas in the tank takes about 1.5 minutes lol

My electric mower charges in about 5 hours and has a beautiful cut 54" with three independent brushless motors. It is 80 volt. The other thing you are forgetting about filling the gas tank is you had to go get that gas in the first place, and you have to do it routinely and you also have to change your oil filter and maintain your belts and pulleys and all the other b******* that comes with a gas zero turn, where I never have to leave and fetch gas I just plug this in and it also cost me roughly 1/8 the cost for a cut will being quieter.

I couldn’t get my string to go through so I did have to use the tabs to pop the cap off. When i did I found some remaining string blocking my ability to get the new one through. Once I cleared that I was able to put the cap back on and follow these instructions.

Interesting results. Thinking about electric cars due to torque, they can get off the line first from any gas vehicle. I kinda thought that may translate to mowers, but looks like the torque isn't there to overcome. It was a very enjoyable video. Your work is outstanding.

@@DannyFyffe Well you can have cheap or expensive engines. You can have cheap or expensive electric motors. You also have to consider power vs capacity/range for battery powered objects.
