Looks like basic mechanics. You never showed a resolution for re-alignment. What keeps the gate from staying in the folded condition?

If the small section had 20nb horizontal pieces instead of mesh you wouldn’t have to worry about the mesh being busted off allowing them to lift the gate off the bottom hinge. Another common problem with cattle and gates.

The amount of co2 and fuel that goes into making cement makes cutting down trees the green option. Especially since it creates a industry which makes planting trees profitable…

As a semi driver who delivers to rural properties when you set up your front gate please use two gates not one. The number of times we cannot deliver because the entrance is too narrow is amazing. I am dumbfounded how so many growers miss something so obvious. The kindest thing I can say is it does not make you look very clever.

Galvanized steel doesn't weld as well as non-galvanized.

Where I'm from they got bumper Gates bumper Gates operate same thing except to hit it with the car and it opens up and then when you get through it shuts back on itself opens either way the gate is swung to be low in the middle so that it returns to close yeah we've been doing that for ever since I've been driving cars in the United States I think

In South Africa in the Afrikaans language we have a saying. " n Boer maak n plan", wich translates into english "a Farmer makes a plan". Over the centuries farmers always had to come up with plans to find solutions for certain problems. This another testimony of a brilliant solution to a certain problem

Off subject, but I have a question for Tim or anyone who knows. If I connect 2 sections of high tensile fence with a high quality portable braided electric wire will I suffer a drop in power?

Depends on the conductivity and condition of the wire and braid. Generally not recommended but you could overcome resistance with several lines.

Concrete is not environmentally friendly. Way too much energy hogging cement. You'd be better off planting a small block of trees for future fence posts. In USA we use "hedge apple" aka bois d'arc. They grow slowly but lasts decades and decades as fence posts. Tougher than iron almost

@@FarmLearningTim thanks for the link. I recall just such a "silvo-pasture" writeup in US grazing magazine, "Stockman Grass Farmer" about 20 years ago. Reminded me of my ancestors who, in 1807, moved from South Carolina to the then new acquired Mississippi territory. On the "passport' required to pass through Cherokee Indian lands in Georgia they listed over 30 cattle. They trekked to the vast park like longleaf pine region. Massive, hundreds of years old trees. The diaries noted trees were spaced far enough apart to allow two wagons to easily pass side-by-side with room to spare. Enough filtered light to allow good grass growth. The riparian zones along the numerous springs/creeks allowed good growth of hardwoods like pecans & hickories while the higher ground was filled with majestic longleaf pine. A really diverse environment. Thanks again for the link
