Just a tip about “Grandma” scam calls and how to protect yourself. We had a secret code word we gave our grandchildren when they were younger. All I had to do was ask the “caller” What’s the code word? It worked!
It’s refreshing to encounter genuinely nice people in this world. Your kindness and warmth can brighten anyone’s day! Hello Gizmo! As a son of a veteran and a father of a veteran tell your son thank you for his service
Jerry and Linda are retired public school teachers. IMO, the decades of experience they have teaching in the classroom really favors their vlog skills, their interest and dedication towards teaching us about life in The Villages and let’s NOT forget their fun personalities. To me, Jerry and Linda are the BEST ones covering The Villages on RU-vid.
Something to consider about preferring a “gated” community is that when a subdivision is gated, guess who pays for road maintenance? It’s the residents’ responsibility to keep the roads maintained because now the roads have gone from public roads to private roads. Might want to consider that one!
About 10 years ago, my Dad received the "Grandpa" scam call. He was convinced it was my youngest sister's stepson calling him. I tried to explain to him about the Grandpa/Grandma scam, but I don't know if he believed me. Fortunately my Dad hung up on the caller after a couple of minutes. Thank you for warning people about this scam which has been going on for years.
Scramble was so easy this week. Good show. Re: Salty person comment never had a Mother teach him, ‘if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything’.
We were in the military for years and one of the hardest things was to find a good hairstylist in our new area. I usually would find someone whose hair style I liked and then asked them where they get their hair done. Only once did I have someone say, "I did it myself". Most people will be honest with a general cost amount so I could budget properly for the appointment.
I've been a Hairstylist for 39yrs & can't recall ever sending someone home with color stains on their skin. Careful application and color removal products are key. These stylists should also know that while shampooing to remove color, they can use the lather of color & shampoo to gently remove the stains. So sorry to hear of these bad experiences. We will be retiring to TV in 3 yrs & I'm not planning to stay in the Salon business but maybe, I should. 😉 Thanks for a GREAT show, as always!!
Seabreeze takes the dye off. When I moved to Naples I looked inside a couple salons to get a feel for the place. I picked one I felt comfortable with and asked them to recommend a stylist. I used her for 9 years until I let my gray grow out.
Thanks so much for the videos! The work you put into the videos is very much appreciated! My wife and I are nearing retirement (mid-60's) and your videos are so helpful and fun to watch! We were also Dachshund owners and enjoy seeing Giizmo! We received the Villages Booklet and DVD and plan to schedule a lifestyle visit later this year. Looking forward to your next video! Good morning and happy Monday Jerry , Linda and Gizmo. 🤗. Happy belated Father’s Day. Great questions especially the one about metal roofs. Absolutely folks should do research but your answer is a nice beginning. I used to see an occasional snake 🐍 when I visited. Didn’t know any where venomous. Omg. My besties 90 yr old mother got a call like this. 😡She too almost fell for it but when she asked to speak with him they started fumbling. She called her daughter and her grandson was home. I got today’s scramble. Sweet always sweet. Salty 🤦♀️. I was admiring your tops/jerseys. Very nice. Always love the shoutouts. Great pics. Oh Gizmo. The croc 🐊 pot? 😂. Suit yourself 😂. Thanks guys. Have a great week and see you Thursday. Oooh. A live. 🙌🏼
I am in my 40s and have been obsessively watching your shows! I am very close to being an empty nester and your experience T the Villages reminds me there are so many exciting things and fun years to come when this chapter of my life comes to a close. Best wishes for you and your families, thank you for this fantastic program!!
Jerry, you do an amazing service for the folks that are dreaming of moving down there when they retire. You and Linda have inspired my wife and I to visit the Villages next month to check out if it's right for us. Please keep the videos coming. Blessings from Adam & Sheila.
You two missed your true calling in life to be great tv or radio presenters. I just love watching you from Australia, you are compassionate, charming, genuine and funny. Those people in the villages are so fortunate to have you offering your community service in the formate of you vlogs. Keep up the great work!
Good morning, Linda and Jerry! Great show, as always. We're so excited - we are moving there soon! We just put a deposit on a CYV in the new area of Lake Denham. Thank you for all the very useful information you provide. I almost changed my mind about moving to TV when I saw that coral snake - huge snake phobia here. Yikes!!! See you when we get there!!
Thanks again for all your wonderful videos; we love them. You are great people and we also LOVE Gizmo. Just want to mention that those horrid, evil scammers need to be imprisoned for ever. It's been happening all over the country, so sad how they take advantage of seniors.
Loved the footage of Coral Snake. Would love to see one! Noticed you did not include your bloopers. Good call, they had run there course in our opinion. Keep up the good work!
Glad to hear that you're getting the rain you need. My area in the panhandle got upwards of 16 inches, which caused some localized flooding, but my town (Gulf Breeze) came through just fine. As it turns out, sand can absorb A LOT of water. Great show as always!
I am thrilled The Villages is NOT a gated community- we wouldn’t have the thriving community if it was. Our wonderful Town Squares, nightly music and dancing, shops and restaurants are open to the public- if we were a gated community- there wouldn’t be enough people to be profitable for businesses.
Although The Villages isn't my cup of tea, I do enjoy learning about living there and I can see why extroverts and very social people like it. I'm surprised its not a real gated community - I think it could be a "playground" for predators, scam artist, con artist. I wonder if there are working mental health professionals - facilities available to the residents? You two make a lovely couple!
Nice shirts! Great video. The question about metal roofs answered mine...I suspected the answer! Honestly, if the roof color is similar to the old one or to others in the neighborhood regardless of material, why would it matter?? Thanks for your time and effort you put into these videos! If you ever decide to stop, you would be very much missed! Take care, God bless❤
Always love mr Jerry and ms Linda and precious gizmo..i enjoyed all the information..especially about a metal roof..I have burgundy metal on 600sq ft city cottage and on the 1500 sq.ft country cottage..it withstands heat rain ice snow so very ....Wishing you all a blessed week
Just love to follow you both! Love Linda's meatloaf, Love Jerry loves Walmart stew in the can for a comfort meal! Always fun with with you two and Gizzmo!
Your show just gets better and better! Thank you for all the info and entertainment. I got the scrambler right away! Yay! ❤ ❤ See you live on Thursday!
Loved your show today. You both look great but Linda is most always a ray of sunshine. Love your great attitude. Sometimes, I think people don't realize the times we live in are not what it used to be. It's not just The Villages , it is everywhere because the criminals are being emboldened by the real evil that exists on Earth. Because this is Florida and this is The Villages, we live a lot better and safer life than so many other places. So, instead of complaining , I wish they could appreciate and enjoy what they are blessed with. Life could be so much worse. So,😁.
Great show as always. 🥰 My aunt In Pittsburgh got one of those scam calls and when they did not use the proper nicknames for her and her grandson she knew it was a scam. 😂 Thanks for all the info. U both do a great job. 😊
Regarding the pools- the pools feel noticeably cooler in winter. Imho the ambient air is cold plus in the warmer months the water is much warmer in summer than 83 degrees ( my understanding it’s not heated. 83-85 degrees).
Hi Jerry and Linda, I have heard a lot about that scam. It is recommended if you get this call that you contact that grandchild yourself. If you can’t reach them contact their parents before ever giving any money. Verify first. I got the word scramble in about 5 seconds. That one was easy. The 2 word ones are harder for me.
For your word scramble, once I heard the clue, I didn't even need to see the letters, I knew it instantly, it was so obvious! :-) C'mon, give us a little challenge! (No, not complaining, and love your videos. )
In south Louisiana, the Bowfin is called a Choupique. The Choupique is not considered to be a delicacy (to put it mildly) and are most often considered to be "throw backs" and returned to swim for another day. The preferred recipe for those who chose to eat a Choupique is to tie the fish to a cypress board, affix the board to a stick and place it above a hot bed of charcoal while rotating the board like a rotisserie. After about 15 or 12 minutes, remove the fish from the board, toss the fish in the trash and eat the cypress board.
It’s interesting but hair salons don’t really tell you how much in advance. They give a range you really never know how much you’re going to spend before you get there.
