Gates of Delirium, Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks, Santander Performing Arts Center, Reading, PA, April 23rd, 2023; Yes - Epics and Classics North American Tour
John (Jon) Roy Anderson is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Born: 1944 (age 78 years) !!! He's still doing it in 2023 !! This entire band (Band Geeks) are extremely talented and they pull off Gates with ease. Fantastic!!!
This guys are absolutely AWESOME. They are playing this epic Yes music with probably just a 25% of the gear that Yes used to have, they smile, looks relaxed and having the time of their lives. Guitarist played the Soon part with just a bottleneck slide like a piece of cake... No elaborated stage design, no mirrorballs, no fog machines, no ridicously costumes... and THE MAN... God bless him, he is The PROG GOD... Please come to southamerica!!!
I met Yes's music in my teens. It has been almost 50 years since then. The best moment in the Gate of Delirium song in Yes is Soon. It is a idyllic and peaceful song.
Wow! This band has gone from You Tube videos to playing with Jon Anderson. They are extremely competent playing a very challenging piece of music. Any Yes fan should be happy to hear this classic performed very nicely. Bravo!
The bands geeks are blowing the roof off these shows!! Richie and the gang are killing it!!!! On a personal level I'm so happy for the group and their families!!!
Wow, what a thrill it must be for the band geeks to be playing such legendary Yes classics such as this. No wonder they are beaming from ear to ear and look like they are having the time of their life. Good for them, they do a great job and the shows are getting better and better each time. Hopefully this short run blossoms into a worldwide tour and gives Yes fans the opportunity to hear these amazing songs one more time.
It's like heaven revealed isn't it this song?... Well played guys. Spot on . Yes we're incredible. This song smashed every boundary. I came here thinking they'd torch a classic. How wrong I was. The tear in my eye proves me wrong.. it gets me every time. Jon is the light that powered yes music. Bravo all.
OMG ¡¡¡ His voice OMG ¡¡ Can stop crying ¡¡ Soon oh Soon the light pass within and soothe this endless night. And wait here for you. Our reason to be here
One of the first concerts that I ever went to was YES at the Forum the same for my wife ( we hadn’t met yet ) but I remember her high school friend ate slept and drank YES ( he’s now the current bassist for YES Billy Sherwood) long story short my wife and I moved to San Luis Obispo county 32 years ago and so did Jon Anderson, I see him at Trader Joe’s and Starbucks. He loves to talk and is really friendly plus super spiritual, you just can’t help but be happy after seeing him. I have to find a way to see this tour he and the band are amazing. Thank you JON you make the world a better place, we need that more than ever.
This is incredible: they play most or all the epics that YES played on their Masterworks tour 2000 and adding Awaken to CTTE, Gates, Ritual and AYAI!! Best of all they sound so powerful and astounding, congrats and thanks for posting!
TOPOGRAPHIC and RELAYER are the BEST.... still love exploring the covers as the music plays.... these albums ....and fragile/close to the edge/yesterdays/going for the one/tormato and even drama transported me to other worlds....
This complex classic pushes the boundaries of progressive rock to places only imagined. Of course, Jon’s voice isn’t what it was 50 years ago but for a nearly 80 year old he kills this song! The musicians Jon has assembled are fantastically adept at more than doing justice to this fantastical piece. Congrats to all involved. You’ve passed with flying colors and should be proud of this awesome rendition!
Jon didn’t assemble these musicians. Richie, the bass player has been driving the band, Band Geeks. The band has created a bunch of covers, including the complete CTTE album. I don’t know how Jon came across them, but he apparently felt the BGs honored and captured Yes.
Funny how I hear things...here's the only way I can explain this: When I hear this performance, I hear *Yes*. When I hop over to the official band's fairly recent performance of this same song, I hear "Yes". The difference in punctuation makes all the difference in the world for me. This is pretty remarkable, especially this early in the tour. 👍🏻👍🏻
Jon should have been wearing a Relayer shirt.I love when he smiled when he knew he flubbed the words, not to fret Jon tis was another amazing performance.Hope to see you SOON 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Outstanding! Doesn't matter that Jon fluffed a couple of lines, because the beauty and power of his voice, the pure energy and the vibe of this performance is YES! The precision and effort these guys have put into the music is incredible and I SO want to experience this tour! I haven't seen current Yes live since our beloved Chris passed away 🎵🙏🏻🕊
This line up , with Jon Anderson at the helm.. eclipses the version of Yes that is touring with Steve Howe...This was incrinkulent!!! Took me back to the 70's, when i saw Yes live 3/4 times 😊😊Thank you!
My pal saw them in 1976 with the moving snake heads and lasers. Austin Texas I think. I was at junior school in England at that time. My copy of YesShows arrives this week to replace the vinyl I bought on 6 May 1985. The Gates on that was so good and the sound so weird and awesome, it was literally scary - and still is.
A darned shame that it cut off before the finish. Because this performance by Jon & The Band Geeks was spectacular. My lighter was in hand waving. Thank you. Superb musicians and superb musicianship!
Awesome. I wanted to be there last night. Reading is an hour away. I’m sure the show was well worth the $ to see it. Anderson’s range is amazing. He still has it. The BG are stellar and this is Yes- the spirit of the band. Well done.
I just moved to the town of sinking spring, in reading, 15 minutes away, and I’m so upset that I missed this show. I love YES especially anything before ‘78. I hope they come back here again, and this time I can go…
Very good performance. Jon Anderson still has got his magical voice... The musicians in Band Geeks are really good... Ritchie Castellano surprised me already in BÖC and writes some really cool songs for the band but in the Band Geeks, he's taking off ! Great bass player... It's a real pity that the ending section Soon is cut...
Holy crap, this is getting better every passing week. It’s so cool to see both Jon and the band having FUN playing this amazing material! Hope they continue to extend the run! Please come down to Miami! ;-)
@@josephnaja There is one! From what I understand Jon and the Geeks put this tour together pretty quickly and only put out a handful of dates with the idea of seeing how these shows go and adding more from there! I check here and there to see if/when they'll update it. No Florida show yet sadly. I wanted to point out that I'm 21 😂
@@britannicvalente I just saw their spring tour schedule. Richie is thinking about doing a live Q & A sometime soon. I told him man I'm down and that would be great. They have to know that there's a real buzz going on out here about all of this. I'm thrilled and I'm a huge YES FAN, lost track of how many times I've seen them live! 🌴🌴 Rock On Man
Was at last nights show at Satander in Reading Pa. I first saw Yes in 1971. Band of geeks terrific. Jon Anderson is Yes. Wonderful show. I miss Steve, Rick, Bill, and Chris though.
Been watching Band Geek for a long time. Everything they do is fantastic and they are by far the best interpreters of Yes. I'm just praying all goes well and Jon and the guys bring the show over to the UK 🤞🤞
Richie's inner Squire really escaped on this. Love the green Ricky. People knocking this are missing the point. Saw Yes myself perform this mega song and they weren't perfect either. Perfection is the record, this and Yes in their day is risking it pushing the boundaries of what you can still do justice to live. I agree Jon's voice has waned a bit but fuck me he's 78! Kudos for still being able to even attempt this.
Wow! What a performance by Jon and Band Geeks. As good as the Yesshows recording. I love their attention to details in including Jon's acoustic guitar part in "Soon". They already changed the set list to include this epic and would be interested to know the full list. I was lucky to have enjoyed the magical experience at Westbury. As mentioned by others, a world tour is needed for all the people who love Yes and Jon.
Thanks for putting up the Reading show, it was astonishing. Jon never ceases to amaze me. I’ve seen Yes perform this and I was really surprised how good these musicians are.
❤❤❤YES❤❤❤ Jon n Band Geeks Wow new psychedelic bliss art Surrealist journey in palate on a new key jam on colors ❤❤❤ Jon n Band Geeks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 100% 💯 💯💯 A+ transport music art 🎨🪘🖌️🎸🪗🪕🎺🖍️🎨🪘🪘🪘🎨🎨🎨🪕🎷🎤
Jon's performance here is remarkable and inspiring. I don't know how he can still sound so fantastic at age 78 - play this to someone and ask how old he is and they'd probably say "almost 40" not "almost 80". That note he hits at 18:30... wow.
I did not know that these guys have been playing with Jon for more than a year now....wow so mind blowing, all these monster classic songs, I thought they just started this year. I cannot wait for August 16 in Thousand Oaks!!!! P.S. Rick and in this case, Patrick must be flattered, 2 keyboardists to cover their parts!
Saw Jon and the Geeks play in N. VA last night. I'm still absolutely speechless! Jon was the best I've ever heard him. And, the Geeks played as well as YES ever played at their height! BRAVO Jon! BRAVO Geeks!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!
Jon must be loving playing all the old music he co wrote with a band as good as the Geeks. Hope he brings them to the uk. Couldn’t watch him with the young kids Rock Academy after hearing him with the Geeks
Wonderful to hear & Anderson deserves to be with this band playing Yes music properly. Gates is a difficult piece vocally, 22 years ago on the Symphonic tour they didn't play it every night to rest his voice. He does really well here, the band are superb. This is how Yes classic music is supposed to be performed. Well done one & all.
