49 years ago I went to see Yes in concert with the relayer tour and last year I saw Jon and the Geeks play this song , my hair stood up on my neck then and still did last year , I will tell you Jon Anderson hasn't lost much at all of his voice and to have a talented bunch of musicians playing beside him is golden ❤
I've followed "Band Geek" on YT for almost 10 years so I knew they'd be up to this. They were and then some :) What I'd didn't expect was how good Jon's voice still is. The energy of this live performance reminds me very much of when I saw Jon perform this with Yes in 1975 on the Relayer tour in the UK. Thanks very much for sharing this with us. :)
I also saw the Relayer tour in the US (Jersey City) and Jon singing with the Band Geeks captured that same Yes energy from the 70s. I saw Yes on 3 or 4? different tours in the 70s and early 80s. Amazing! Later in the 90s - 2K had less energy in their playing, not as inspired. Now, If Jon tours in your area with the Band Geeks... GO!
I saw Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks the week before this, April 21st, in NYC at the Palladium. I was elated. It was one mega-classic after another. Relayer album is my personal favorite. Your video sounds great. Thanks for sharing! 🎶💚💚🎶
What I love about this incarnation of sort-of Yes is the respect for the music that all of these musicians have. Jon to all the members of the Band Geeks, it's about the music.
I caught this tour in CT and was in tears for more than a few songs. That was early enough in the tour that they were not ready to release this Relayer revelation. I would have LOVED to experience this live but thank you for posting. I remember zipping the cellophane of the Relayer vinyl . . .
I also saw them in 2023 NYC Palladium, and I couldn't stop crying and smiling at the same time. Zapped me right back to an earlier time yet also sounded relevant to today... maybe much more so! 🎶💚💚💚🎶
The only difference between this band and Yes back then is that these guys didn't write what they are playing. These guys don't improvise much, but I'm sure they could! World class musicians. And Jon is just, well, Jon 🙏🙂
@@garytrucks actually, you don't know what these guys do when they are not doing this, and their other covers. if they are like me, they do lots of things in lots of ways. My solo version of this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HxC7o7tycF4.html
Thanks for shooting this! I saw "Yes" 4 years ago and walked out at half time. Honestly they sounded like a tribute band and were NOT tight at all. This is the first that I've heard of this band and they are indeed tight; this is a very complicated tune as most Yes tunes are .... but wow! Hope they come to Atlanta some time in the future.
Wow. So much love for the music seeping through. Talented session musicians might be able to recreate this but not embody it fully as the Band Geeks do here.
Thanks for the compliment. I recorded it on a Pixel 6 pro phone, then I loaded it into my video editing system and re-EQ'd the mix. I've always been verry picky about good sound mixes for all of my music.
Good to see that AI hasn't taken over everything yet. I suppose, though, if The Band Geeks ever want to go out on the road and tour the Yes catalog and Jon isn't available, they could use a Jon Anderson AI filter with someone else singing.
