I have been going to Gatlinburg since 1963 when I was three with my parents. I have gone back over the years with my own family and tried to describe the charm and memories. Needless to say it's all but gone now. The Ole Smokey candy kitchen and Aunt Mahalia's candy is still there, not much else. I took my son 15 years ago when he was 12 and just went back this past weekend, he even noticed a change. I will hang on to my memories and old pictures.... I did run into some older people that helped me remember where some things were and what has replaced them, SAD.
I cant wait to look back on these videos and see all of those Smokey Mountain Moonshines a thing of the past! Every other building is now one of them!?!?!?!
Clutz Winstead. Yep it's been taken hostage by the global elites. Dolly Parton had a lot to do with this as well she isnt a little angel like everyone thinks
Great Work 👍 What's funny to me is that I no of where all of these places in these separate videos are more than I do where I live. 40 + visits and I'll always keep going back. My grandma an grandpa on both sides left the mountains ( Letcher County KY) - ( Ewing Virginia) after they got to sick (black lung) to work in the coal mines an mills (lumber mills) 🌄
Played a high school basketball game vrs gatlinburg I was with White Pine team in 1963. We walked downtown at 8 pm and no cars were moving and the stores were closed, the town was dead
+Kodiak--- They go mainly for Dollywood, The Great Smoky Mountains, and some historical places and other entertainment areas like the Grand Hotel Convention Center which hosts Southern Gospel Music Conventions and other music. I go there to visit my relatives-- Maples, Coles, Reagans, Ogles, Watsons, Partons, etc. I love Cades Cove except when everyone decides to stop and take a picture of a deer or an occasional bear ( Caution: tourists think they are tame, but they are not) or fox or whatever then you have a traffic jam there as well. They are also attempting to reintroduce elk into the area (don't get too close or feed these either). My relatives call the main highway through Pigeon Forge their six lane parking lot. I like the Old Mill (still operating)and the restaurant across the street. My Uncle Eddie Baker "the candy maker" (he was born in Canada) used to make stick candy and other candy. He had people working for him, and they are carrying on the tradition in their own candy business. It is a beautiful place, but the traffic in the summer and fall is worse than the traffic in New York City especially when they have car shows of all kinds and other events.
Lol just to inform people that are wondering why so many people are hating on G-burg it’s because it’s like the most conservative area I’ve ever seen. Some of these people complaining probably haven’t even went in the past 5 years because G-burg is still made up of small single story( maybe double story) family owned business and the crazy industrial work in Gatlinburg that everyone is commenting about and that is so bad is only 2 streets. The point is to go into the great smoky mountains when you go here but to all the snowflakes complaining Trump 2020!!!
