Some of the sights and sounds of Gatlinburg, TN, shops, awesome donuts, and a drive into the National Park.
Some of the public places in this video, have music playing over their sound system. We do not own the rights to this music, nor did we add this music to our video, nor do we have any control over the music that was being played.

It makes me happy to see y'all back out and about. I will have to get my Gatlinburg fix through your channel, I don't see me going back to moonshine town again.

There is a Bonanza Steakhouse in Lebanon, Virginia. We eat there from time to time. Great value because your entree also comes with the salad and hot bar. So you are really getting two meals for the price of one.

Yes, another person also commented about that particular Bonanza location. I didn't know there were any left in the south.

We went to Gatlinburg for the first time last summer. I wish y'all had been there to give us this tour in person. LOL. There were so many people in town that I feel like we missed a lot of details. Enjoyed hearing your memories and how the area has changed over the years. Thanks for sharing your tour with us!

Glad to do it. I'm just curious if you all enjoyed the area? The town truly has changed a lot, and grown up so much. We are kind of getting to the point where we like to do more things in the National Park and in nature now.

I am enjoying your videos. I think you'll go to the top of the heap of reviewers of the Smokies, TN, NC, GA, and other places you visit. I also miss the old Gatlinburg. I don't mind the moonshine, cider, or wine places really. Shine is part of the culture of this area. I like that Old Smoky usually has live music. The places are tastefully done and they have excellent merchandise. But even though I am older than you two, I don't have the history of going there that you all do. I first went when I was 19. I think you (the husband) said you've been going since you were one. I do miss the smaller crowds. When I was a student at UT in the '80s, you could park on the Parkway during the winter. Maybe at other times, too. I didn't go too often then. But the crowds in town have paralleled the bigger crowds in the park and the growth of our nation and this area. The growth in this area has been exacerbated by the influx of people from other parts of the country IMO, making crowds here even worse. For this reason, I am 100% for charging a fee for admission to the park. Make it $20/car. Maybe it will somewhat curtail the crowds overall. I also remember Lum's! I first visited the area in 1983. We were driving back to UT from a Vols basketball game in Athens, Ga., and took the scenic route home. It was early March, and the place was dead. Especially Pigeon Forge. All the motels had signs reading "Opening in Summer" or "Closed for Winter" or something like that. The only landmark I remember from Pigeon Forge in 1983 is the red roof mall. When I was a student at UT, I turned down numerous opportunities to hike in the Smokies with friends. Bear phobia is why! LOL So on July 4, 2020, I made up for that as my wife and I hiked to the top of Mt. LeConte via Alum Cave. I was very nervous and didn't sleep a wink the night before. But it was so great to finally do that hike after all of these years. And no bears. I was so exhausted, I would have surrendered to any bear. Speaking of bears, I also wish that bear had charged that man! Sorry for the long-winded post.

Also, we just hiked to the top of Mt. Leconte, via Alum Cave, back in June. We came down Trillium Gap, and found that to be a hard trail, especially for my wife and her knees. The view up top was amazing. But yes, you are correct...Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have certainly changed over the years.

Theres a channel about a tow company in gatlinburg and i cant think of the name of it but it’s hugely popular.when you were talking about parking, it reminded me of it. It’s crazy to watch people where they park. The most intersting thing is the big rig trailers who get stuf on mountains etc and how they get them out. Also people rent cabins with huge steep inclines and don’t have 4 Ed etc and aren’t told when they come up here. I’ll try to thin and tell you what it is it im sure you can find it. Also go upon park where people pul off side of road at roaring fork or clingmans dome and you don’t realize it but it’s straight down! They have to come get them out before they go off the side of the cliffs. Anyway, maybe y’all can do a cooking video when you grill sometimes. Ive not used those flavored salts but sounds good. It was neat to see the old cemetery in town, never would have known it was there.

Well it looks like y'all had a fun day. Getting to see five bears in one day is exciting. I like the Village, it is a neat looking place. I don't understand people getting so close to a wild animals. I guess it's true, you can't fix stupid. That bear could have easily attacked that man.
@koalabear6722
@koalabear6722 Год назад
I agree, if a person is responsible for an attack that they provoked, they should be held accountable!
@NCMemoryMakers
@NCMemoryMakers Год назад
Absolutely. Unfortunately, that person could have provoked the bear into attacking, and the bear would have paid the ultimate price. Especially if it was a mother bear with cubs. That's just wrong.

What a fun and interesting video. You were so right about the guy and the bear. His stupidness spoiled the fun for everyone else. Just take your picture at a distance and leave the bear alone in his territory. Then everyone can observe the bear. Someday these people will learn. I just don’t want the bear to pay the price.

Heard you talking about bonanza there is one left in this area since I found out I've been going to it. It is in Lebanon VA. I heard there were only 8 left in the country and this is one of them.
@NCMemoryMakers
@NCMemoryMakers 2 года назад
I'm not sure how many there are left overall. My wife is from Minnesota, and some of her family just told us that the one in their area is still there. I know last time we were up there, there were several in the Midwest. But none left here in North Carolina or Tennessee.. There used to be several here. I miss them. It's pretty good, that you still have one in your area. If I'm ever in that part of Virginia, I'm definitely going to stop.

@@TheGatlinburgHussey We were actually just there, on March 26th. When my wife's mother passed away, some of her family was down from Minnesota for the funeral. My wife's uncle and aunt wanted to stop by Gatlinburg on their way back to Minnesota, so we rode up with them on that day. Since they were not local, we let them pick the restaurant. He noticed on the Howard's sign, that it said "since 1946". And since that was the year of his parents' wedding, he said he would like to eat there. So, we had lunch at Howard's.

I wouldn't fight him now. Since then, he has been a Navy Seal, and a member of the Army Delta Force. If you put in "Kevin Holland Testimony" on RU-vid, you can hear him talking about his military experiences, and how he got saved. Back then, I was a lot bigger than he was…lol.
