This video is about making a great machine even better. We took a retired John Deere 6x4 gator with a gasoline engine and installed a Yanmar 3TNV70 diesel out of a newer XUV855D. At the same time, we did a complete restoration of the frame and body, skid plated the bottom, and fabricated a flat deck to use instead of the factory box.
The .125” aluminum diamond plate (44”x58”) tilting deck also has side rail tie downs, vertical and horizontal 1”x2” stake pockets, to allow steel stake and side panels to be inserted horizontal to increase the deck width to 84”. This will carry at least four hay bales wide or one round bale up to 1000 pounds. The wider deck would also allow a pup tent shelter off the ground.
We fabricated a 2” roll bar to support a canopy in the future and incorporated a 2” receiver tube front, back, and atop the deck, to allow multiple winch mounting points, tow rings, hooks, trailer hitch, or rear game hoist. The front rack will allow extra gear to be tied down.
