Love those gator blades i have a 30 inch murray 10.5hp i want to get a gator blade for . i like how thick that lip is made would take alot to try to tear that blade down compare to the oem blade u had on originally.
At Eliminator we install the Sten's Silver Streak blades which are a knock off of the Gator blades provided the customer wants the more expensive blade. Additionally, we notify them that these blades being much thicker may break spindle mounts or bend crankshafts if they hit something like a tree stump or brick or even a water main. On the thinner blades they tend to bend much easier and over 8 years we have seen 2 broken spindles and 10 bent crankshafts (beyond being able to straighten) using these blades. Very nice video showing the Gator and how it performs too bad the recoil broke but it is what it is eh? The OLD MAN at EP over and out!
@@KensSmallEngineRepair - Thanks for watching - I did not have a "bad blade" to show, so I had to improvise with a good one. I will keep the vids rolling. Have a nice afternoon.
That rear engine snapper.looks to.be a 33 inch hi vac the gator blade does help with gas saved by by least .wind resistant I tried them on my 33 and 28 inch high vac snapper rear engine rider also on the 21 inch high vac snapper push mower
Nice job Ken, what I'm most impressed with is that you take care of your Mom, you're a good guy brother. I was waiting for your Mom to step out at the end of the video and point to a section of the yard while saying "Kenny you missed a spot" :)
We have an agreement. I’m her handyman/landscaper and she is my personal chef! Best cook around! Usually it’s Soup on Sunday but this Sunday I get Yankee Pot Roast for a birthday Dinners. Can’t wait!! And she makes Yorkshire Pudding that melts in your mouth! If she could only show her recipes to Mrs Potty Mouth!
That sounds like an excellent trade-off, nobody cooks better than mom. If you're sporting a swole lip and black eye in your next video we'll know Mrs Potty Mouth read your comment. LOL!! Happy Birthday Buddy
Hi Ken, blade did a good job, I like the gator blades, but as you say it’s all about finding a method with the mower your using, clogging is so frustrating. Even on my Kubota mower with a power fan I’ve had them clog with leaves. Good video🙂👍
When I had my scagg I used to use the gator blades for all year round. It use to mulch the grass real well too. You will definitely be happy you switched to gator. Good video!
Ken. I have a Snapper RER that has the white handlebars in which someone had replaced the original engine with a 11hp Briggs & Stratton engine that needs some work. I have to say that when I had the engine running that the Snapper actually made a nicer cut quality than my John Deere 165 38 inch mower deck - Which really cuts nicely. A friend of mine was going to scrap out the Snapper RER and I wound up bringing it home with me rather than seeing it scrapped out. The mower deck has a 30 inch cut in which the blade has the bolt on wings. Regarding the Gator Blades, I used to run the Gator blades on my John Deere and absolutely loved them. Unfortunately I was mowing one day in some taller grass and hit a small tree stump and slightly bent one of the blades. The Gator blades definitely cut down on the amount of grass clippings compared to the standard low lift blades. Earlier this year, I mowed down an area of wild blackberries in which the Gator blades totally ground up the blackberries I tried my Cub Cadet with the 44c deck with the standard blades and wasn’t very impressed compared to the John Deere with the Gator blades which really surprised me because the Cub is usually good for rough mowing - But not for blackberries.
I had a 1985 white handlebar 11 Hp Briggs 33 inch RER 20 years ago that I traded for an international Harvester Cub Cadet. This one is a 1999 9 Hp Briggs 28 inch cut that a customer of mine didn’t want to fix the safety switch module so I got it for a sweet price it’s been performing flawlessly ever since. I’ve never fixed the module I just ground the coil to shut it off!
When I got my bigger lawn tractor, the previous guy said he had put Gators on it. No idea if they're real or knockoff, and it's hard to compare because I also went from a 30cu in to 35cu in Vanguard, and a 38" to 50" deck, but it seems to work pretty well. Certainly puts enough lift on things, I gotta put a baffle in the deck or something, the left foot pad area will totally fill with grass clippings in about 10 minutes, they just blast right out of that side.
Nice work Ken. About a decade ago I started goin over the lawn twice, omce to mulch, and then again to bag. I prefer that to always havin to stop and empty, and the constant plugging. I ended up doing some weighing and I get 8 to 1 on bags, mulched versus non mulch. Plus if you're doing composting the mulch is a huge headstart over non mulched. Thanks for the great info buddy!
Hi Ken, I use Oregon gGator blades are they're very good. They obviously work alot better again on a mulching deck were the debris is held under the deck for many revolutions. Bagging they're not held under the deck long enough. Try blocking the deck and not bagging you'll be surprised how it destroys the leaves to be barely visible.
