Paul, you totally crack me up man! I would love to sit down and have a beer and a cigar with you and talk grass or whatever. But, I live 10 hours away, so that’s not happening. Love your videos!
Great info on the Humic. I was always thinking I did not apply it right or something the 2nd or 3rd time compared to the first time applied when I thought I was a turf god.
Yep, here in Greenville! Thanks for the Q&A time and clarity! This was super helpful and glad I didn't waste the seed. Good to know about how it can be harmful to the other grass as well so its double harmful. FYI the KBG variety I used was SPF 30 which is supposed to be a hybrid type out of TX. Will see how it does going into next year coping with the heat and whatnot.
@@PaulsPrimeCuts good to know! Thanks. Wish YT would let me post pics to show how it’s coming in so far. Your advice for how to best care for things here in the Carolinas has been invaluable.
I run the g6 blades most of the year, they cut great as long as the grass is thick . During early spring before the grass thickens I switch to hi lifts to help cut the weeds.
I run eliminator blades on my mulching mower year around. The gators a fair at mulching and discharge ok .... hopefully there won’t be much weed mowing 😂
@@PaulsPrimeCuts I don’t specifically mulch with my blades. I bought them to see how they perform when it comes to side discharging. Come to find out, they do produce smaller clippings, and they throw the clippings further than the hi lifts that came on my mower.
Hey Paul. Love your show. GREAT info. Hey do you ever get into a situation where you whish you had a spray rig in your truck? I think you have a gravity nurse tank for water but not a engine/pump/reel.
I work In an engineering dept for a mower manufacturer. That "grippy stuff" is actually a different material (harder and more wear resistant) . It's very thin and only on the bottom edge. They are supposed to "self sharpen". Just FYI
Look up laseredge mower blades. I dont recall the specific material. I would in a heartbeat but I'm not high enough up the food chain to make that call.
Paul, quick question about Poa trivialis and annua. I just saw your videos regarding the Anuew regulator. I live in Concord, NC. Last spring I had a stand of poa annua that I dug out. This fall I have trivialis coming up. Would you recommend putting out the Anuew product now or waiting until the spring? The light green color and faster top growth drives me crazy. Thanks
It works well for blending the color and controlling the top growth... it even appeared to knock it out in some cases. It wouldn’t hurt to start applying now but in spring you get the additional benefits of controlling top growth of the fescue
I don't know if I noticed anything here in MN from my one spring app of humic I did at .5 gallon per 1k. I throw fert down all the dang time so there wasn't much to boost. Anyway this next spring I'm going to try .5 gallon of kelp and .5 gallon of humic per 1k in between my first and second fert apps.
PRG will take a lot of water to establish...once it’s established I’d only water it if it looks like it’s drying out. If it’s annual ryegrass it will establish quickly with daily watering for about a week
So I guess you won't be over- seeding Willey Gardens....be nice to see how it looks this time of year. I just can't get enough footage of white picket fences.
What about overseed in compadre zoysia? I have heard that compadre zoysia was designed to be used with a companion grass for green in the winter but I have never actually seen or heard of anyone doing this in real life... lol
im looking for a good mower to handle TTTF. Problem i have run across with typical push mowers is alot of dead rotted lines all through the lawn from the push mower matting the grass down and fading out. Suction is the biggest issue for the TTTF it seems, having spots throughout the lawn that are matted over, esp letting the blades grow to 4 or 5 inches. Any suggestions?
Change up your mowing pattern every other time. Mow more often so you aren’t cutting as much off each time. Make sure blades are sharp.... mowers something like the Honda hrx 217 , toro super recycler a good snapper from a mower shop. A good walk behind mower is going to cost north of $500
@@PaulsPrimeCuts appreciate the responce!! Ive seen some of these standers like the wright zk or x, looks cool but its not 8,000$$ cool. Thank you for your time
I am not that impressed with Gator blades. My blades are sharp and never hit any sand and debris. The issue is they don't lift enough on my very thick and very healthy fescue and rye. In fact, to get a proper mow, I have to mow 2 or even 3 patterns each time. If I get lazy and only mow over it 1 time, by the 3rd day after it looks all wonky. They do a decent job on leaves though. My very old Toro recycler sp mower gives me a way better mow. Gonna bite the bullet and spend $700 on a bagger kit for my ZT toro with high lift blades.
I had a similar experience with these blades on a 48 inch Wright stander I used to have . In thick grass they cut weird. They seem to cut much better on the bigger deck... I’ll keep y’all posted as I cut more with them on the 72inch machine
