its not looking good bruh. I think the tour and us to a large extent have hyped her up and maybe she's just not "that" girl. I want her to get it together, but she's gotta start winning.
Both will not go beyond quarters...I had high hopes for Rybakina...but she has disapointed me the most...Coco has time and will improve in 2years...but this year she is terrible...Iga and Saba has chance to win US Open
Constant comparisons to Serena are what hurt Coco the most! Serena was one in a million... Coco doesn't have to be Serena! She needs to be 100% Coco and not another Serena...
I think there was an instant Brad Gilbert effect in that he made her relax and not worry about her forehand too much, focusing on other parts of her game. But that calming mental effect wore off as she realized her weaknesses are not ironed out.
Can someone ask Coco if she is really ok. All this talk about her technical flaws but not really thinking about the journey it took to get here. Coco spent 4.5 months in Europe on clay trying to get ready for the French open and 3 disciplines at the Olympics. She came up short in all of it. She should not have played Toronto at all but she didn’t and that probably added to her insecurity since she lost so handily to Diana. Coco is succumbing to the pressures of all the expectations from other people and herself. It sucks so bad because she literally is 20 and everyone else in the top 5 has at minimum 3 years of life experience on her yet we hold her to the same expectations and standards. I’m really hoping she can get the mental health help she needs because I think that alone will help with her game. She should get off social media for as long as possible and focus on her game and confidence.
Brother its not that deep. Coco atm is defending a lot of points and that adds a lot of stress. Everyone feels pressure, especially when you have to defend more than 3k points earned in less than a month. She will lose early in us open, and after that she will feel more free
@@notis6107 naw it’s not the points. At worst, Coco is now 3, she was that for most of the year and she’s ok with that. It’s really the Olympics hangover both mental and physical.
@@Lederius18 the us open is in front. She isnt at the worse 3. She can be out of the top 5. Of course defending so many points is the problem, thats why almost noone defends a grand slam title
@@notis6107 we can agree to disagree then. I’m sticking to the Olympic hangover. All the other Olympians had a similar result being beaten the first round, we are just focusing on Coco.
Y’all love to blame coaching when players lose even when it not coaching. Coco can’t mentally take the pressure end of story. Brad isn’t the reason she’s double faulting, choking leads, starting flat just to comeback to get in a winning position and choke again with a series of double faults and unforced errors since Wimbledon. She’s mentally weak right now from expectations and lacks confidence in her game. A new coach isn’t going to change that
Americans hurt her by appointing her the best player in the world when she actually wasn't and isn't. MAking her someone that isn't and the pressure did teh work.
But it's totally up to them. If you can't handle it. Stop doing it. 🤷🏻♂ With so many tournaments going on, it should be even easier for the pros, since they now can choose strategically, also financially.
Great insight Christian, I think Coco will not go far this US Open her level is very poor as of late and her mental game has plummeted. Rybakina should at least make second week at US Open but she won't win it.
Coco is growing as an adult making her own decisions 🤷🏽♀️ learning about cause and effect. She will grow stronger and get better and learn to schedule breaks into her year.
This is probably the weakest iteration of the WTA! Coco isn’t as great as they say she is! She’s naturally a defensive player and that can only get you so far. Very similar to Caroline Wozniaki. She may win another GS but it will not be in the immediate future. She maybe only 20, however, if things do not change dramatically, she will continue to face even more challenges!
The Yoshi meltdown was hilarious to me as someone with a stunted sense of humor. It felt like something out of Happy Gilmore. I like to imagine the little kid that kept shouting 'Let's go Hubi!' was the catalyst that set Yoshi off after hearing that chant for the thousandth time while Yoshi made another error. Hubi's smiles throughout that match also made it that much funnier to me. I'm looking forward to the Hubi vs Cobolli match tomorrow.
Coco, come here. Let's chat for a second. The SAME God that gave you gifts, talents and abilities to win titles last year and even before then has NOT changed! So that means YOU still have those same gifts, talents and abilities! So what has happened?! That's for you and your team to figure out. When are your film days? And you DO have film days, right?! There's something there to fix, correct and/or add or subtract. Keep your head up and git back out there! 😉👍👌
For Rybakina: The Wimby loss when the overwhelming favorite got to her and she has still not recovered. She knows she should be on another slam now and shes falling behind. She only wants a slam now, she will be rejuvenated again for the USO and i predict her to lift it.. for Coco: She will improve but problem is all other gals are leveling up and improving fast too. Pple think she only needs to avoid IGA to win titles but truth is all other gals are rising up too. She will soon be just a top 10 player level, not top 4.
I can’t stand Yulia and her dirty tactics. She makes Danielle Collins look zen in comparison. Yulia temper is very bad. She is intolerable and dreadful, I wonder how her coach handled her mood or people around her.
Yes, her on court behavior is atrocious but she is winning against top tier players so despite the meltdowns and drama she is doing something. On the other hand all of my favourites with better behavior are crashing and burning in terms or tennis performance. One of my favs is part of the subject of this video. She is having an awful year!
@@ff-us6vy her animated histrionics after winning a point, a set or a game together with her constant remonstrations against the crowd are becoming a tad overbearing, being downright unpleasant and overdramatic…….
Champions find a way but players are humans. The 8 part ESPN doc on Serena called In the Arena is very good and is insightful. Rybakina and Gauff will need rest and at this rate both won't make the quarters at the Open. Coaching staff have a vested interest in playing a player who is unwell or unready. Change is needed.
No, Coco did not "choke". I am not a fan of hers but it could have easily gone her way. As for Elena, she just did not feel like being there and it showed. She is "moody". I do not enjoy watching her play anymore.
I think coco's forehand needs a retool. They've been trying to get her to be aggressive on it, but her placement is usually off, and she's hitting hard into strengths. I don't think she wanted the partnership with Riba to end. Unfortunate that it did.
Exactly. Riba told Coco that he had a 'personal issue' to resolve so he left her team. When he sorted it out, he didn't go back and announced on social media that Zheng contacted him and asked him to go back to her team...
If Coco's issue is mental why should Brad be fired? A coach cant do anything if a player is not mentally there. ATP players have bad seasons yet stick with their coach - WTA has an issue of blaming coaches instead of looking internally
I think she should rather see a good sports psychologist than fire her coach. She breaks easily mentally on the court, often starts crying, and seems lost. Instead of arguing with an umpire about one point, she should think about the whole match and adjust her strategy to that. She has some work to do on her tennis technique, but it is her mental issues she should try resolving first. It's not the world that it is unjust to her, but her mental strength and technique need some improvement.
Coco being so young, talented and likable I totally understand why she is the face of American women’s tennis. But, my poor Coco is trying her best with all that comes with the territory. I couldn’t imagine being in her shoes. Always a fan whether she’s winning or losing but I agree she needs to rest and regroup. That was a tough loss. In my opinion she just doesn’t look confident on the court lately. Which I totally get, she’s lost some pretty big matches-Wimbledon, the Olympics…AND Pegula just defended her title in Toronto and I am sure Coco wanted to do the same in Cincy. ❤
Why is Coco still with this COACH? He is not a good fit for her, and it is evident from get go. Now she is even loosing money, NO interviews after another lost. Loosing points I can understand, but now it starts to hit her POCKET, she will be BROKE soon. But she has age on her side. She looks BURNT OUT, and SAD, it no fun seeing her like this, she use to be so bubbly. She is not rushing anymore, to get her towels, wow. Sad to see her like this, I hope her Dad get rid of that coach soon. She needs to FRESHEN UP.
ALWAYS rooting for Coco, but 2 things are obvious: 1. She needs some major R&R 2. Might need to change her coaching staff up again Definitely think a mental break will benefit her immensely!
The USTA better make sure not to put Mirra Andreeva in the same quarter of the draw at the US Open. She is only 17 and will beat the breaks off of Gauff
Any other player Coco’s age every one will say they are young, give them grace, they will grow but when it’s Coco the hate is unleashed. You can watch Iga vs Barty from three years ago and see the comments. Read any match Coco same age that Coco looses, everybody is so harsh. Your page is the only one I’ve seen more positive comments and opinion. Coco is an amazing athlete and she has a lot of room to grow. Yes I agree on the coaching, Brad got the praise but I believe Petra did the work as well can see him doing again with Zheng. I believe she’s had a great year, and she will be one of the legends eventually.
As soon as I read how quick the courts at Cincy (and in New york) are this year, I knew it was gonna be a rough stretch for Coco, her forehand just gets exposed on the quicker courts and couple that with whatever is mentally affecting her serve, and…. yeah.
Coco used to be so fierce, if you watch her younger matches you can see… but recently her mental state has been constantly deteriorating. I think she needs to go back to the physical defense underdog playstyle she thrived in so well and pump herself up more
Svitolina looks real good this tourney. Christian, how often do tournaments get rained out? Looking at the weather for Cincinnati.... It does not look good!!!
As a coach fore more than 30 years I know how a lot of matches must be played (60% matches 30 coaching), Stay helcy and get a lot of sleep and games is a great mix.
Coco is going through a mini slump right now which many players go through at some time. She definitely needs to work on her forehand because it’s a glaring weakness and all the players know it. Agree that maybe a three week or months break after the US Open to work with a psychologist and her coaching team is a good idea for her. Rybakina is looking quite sick on the court. She’s obviously dealing with some kind of ongoing illness and heard that she and her team don’t exactly know what it is. She might need to shut it down after the US Open until she can get proper diagnosis and treatment.
I agree with everything you are saying about Coco.Agood vacation and reset is much needed.Ive noticed as of late cocos body language looks like she's carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.I really believe that Brad's intensity is adding to this. coco already puts so much pressure on herself. I think Reba helped diffuse that and he was very beneficial for her.I give him the credit for winning the open because Brad wasn't in the picture until then.Im sure Brad is a great coach just not the best fit.
@@ChristiansCourtDid I just hear you us the word "regression", the same word I used to describe Coco's acute decline but someone argued me down in your last video? Vindicated! That said, I don't know what mental block or distraction Coco is experiencing but it happened fairly acutely, I put the timeframe between 6 months to a year of steady decline. Hopefully, she can go back into the lab and figure out what is plaguing her because I don't think it's 100% her coach.
Coco took on too much. I'm glad she's gonna take a break back home. Rybakina is concerning because she is sick quite a bit. She often appears pale and drained. I hope it's nothing serious but just the exhaustion of a tennis pro's busy life.
Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, A Roman Genwral is the namesake flr Cincinnati . CoCo is 19 and carried the flag in Paris. Everyone is doscussing the Fallen Angel at the wnd, uet didtn pay attnetion to the flag. Ir was for Greece. Giannis Antetokounmpo carried that flag. Sad I tell you.
The demons troubling Coco's tennis do not live inside Brad Gilbert. It is only Coco herself who can dig herself out of the ditch she has put herself because she suddenly started playing very badly. The way she is playing now, it will need a miracle for her to reach anywhere near the finals at the US open. It's really a shame. Her tennis career started very well and now she is playing like the 40 year old grandma. Even Serena played better at 38 than Coco is playing now at 20. Whether it the relationship thing or whatever, she is the only person who can resolve the issue. What I see from afar is she seems to be a Lady who likes to do things her own way. I don't know if she is even coachable. Many players copied Serena. Maria Sharapova admitted in her book that she started copying Serena when they were little girls and it paid off. I see that Aryan seems to have modelled her game alongside that of Serena and it paid off. I don't understand who Coco has modelled her game after. She has everything it takes to become the next Serena but l see her to be a little stubborn to learn. And this stubborn attitude l believe is one thing that she can't overcome. I still wish her all the best but l am very apprehensive.
What did the net do to Coco, that she had to beat the hell out of it? Women's tennis is soo bad, just a bunch of hackers that have no clue where the ball is going.
@@time2shinex707 Because you have no idea where the ball is going. The mens game has much more action. They actually serve and volley, hit winners and have speed.
So unfair to compare the mens and womens games. The women are like a junior handicap tournament with comparatively lower levels of fitness, skills and intensity [with the exception of Iga]. However the women make up these shortfalls with their emotionality, drama, entitlement and what appears to be a mutual loathing [just love those no look handshakes]. So I for one will continue to support what is an inferior product.
