An absolutely beautiful trainset. Congrats on your perseverance building the locomotive from kit form. Were the coaches kits as well? I'm equally impressed with the gorgeous brick and wood trestle the tracks are laid on. I'm certain it affords the child in you countless hours of fun.
this was amazing - as a mechanical engineer I was humbled by this guy's brilliance, as a train lover I was awed by his perfection. This is so cool in every way
i dont understand why you would watch something then give it a thumbs down...surely if you dont like it..why are you watching it....just hater trolls i guess
TOO freaking cool man. I can tell he has done this for most of his life and still gets that satisfaction in his face every time he runs it as if it was the first. True love for a industry and hobby. So much intelligence in one person!
Richard, my man, If only you and I could be neighbors we'd have Gauge 1 live steam locos and track running everywhere. This gauge is the perfect size for live steam and the builds of this size don't take forever or require a queen's ransom to buy, build or maintain. You've gained an interested subscriber who wishes you great success.
As I watched this in February, 2021, and enjoyed the result of this man's passion and skill, I can't help but note that 11,000 individuals gave the video a thumbs down. I despair.
I think Gauge 1 is the perfect size for impressive live steam locos. Any smaller than 0 gauge and they're like mechanised dandruff, any bigger than 2 1/2" gauge and they're not sufficiently magical.
Me too! It disappeared after I grew up and moved out of parents home. I think about it quite often. Early 70s. It was cast iron if my memory is correct. Very heavy built.
sir , i am proud out of you , i wish when i retire i could built a similar engine train in my ancestral village home garden in himalayas ... love and respect from India ....
If you see all things he had to do before this scale model could move, it makes you appreciate the time, when this had to be done at the real thing, were it could take hours between starting to fire everything up to the actual point the train could move. And yeah, I love how much passion this man had, or else this thing could never come to completion. Now the result is rewarding.
I have a Wilesco Table Top working steam engine. Much like this gentleman, we understand that these are not toys and actual working mechanical steam engines. His, of course, is WAAAAAY cooler than mine. :)
Thank you for sharing your immense talent with us. Beautiful job. Your explanation helps us understand how it works. I’m sure many of us had no idea. It’s no wonder you have 1.1 million views. Thank you!
As a former tube driver in Oslo, I have en enduring passion for trains. But you Sir, you take this to great levels. Hatd off to you Sir ! Excellent engineering !
😊when a railway engineer reaches for his spectacles you know things are about to get serious. fantastic engine & very knowledgeable engineer. awesome stuff 🚞🚞

A friend just sent me the link to this video. It was fantastic to watch. As a former hospital Steam plant engineer I can relate to what you have done and how it works. It must have taken you years to assemble this project. An obvious labor of love ..... way to go hello from Canada.
@@johnnyrockford5641 people will down vote this because in those immortal words: "Stupid is as stupid does" A lovely sense of humour and quiet dedication totally lost on the short attention span idiots on Social Media ..
*We've been fortunate enough to see many many train models, but this one has to be in the top 5 anywhere these models are seen or found around the glob!* *We appreciate you sharing your very special train with all the train loves of the globe...a big shout out to you and those who supported you in this incredible love for trains...thank you all so very much!*
@@dcocz3908 That was my thought as well. Most women want men to be "responsible" (which means "do what women want them to do") and not "waste time on silly nonsense" (which means "have fun"). Just think of how much house work and general women-supporting he could have done in the time it took to get that train running!
I used to work for Nexus media - we published Model Engineer and Model Engineer Workshop magazines. It was fantastic to see the skill and passion these guys put into their models. Sadly, with engineering practically dead as a career now in the UK, having the skills to build this sort of thing for your hobby is a dying art.
@@VijayNinel Because everything can be manufactured cheaply in the Far East. Everything is made in China and Taiwan. Even high quality furniture is now made mostly in Vietnam. Smaller model trains that used to be made in the UK, like the famous Hornby brand, are made in China now.
@@Wally-H There are skilled men still engineering in the UK. the design and initial prototyping is nearly always done in the UK. It's just that the tv channels have dumbed down and don't show the real people that form the backbone of the country. Nationalism is rising, as is anti-China sentiment. With it will come a drive to encourage more capable young men to go into machinist trades to supply our own industry. I'm not saying you;re wrong, but I'm saying the inner engineer and problem solver still remains in the blood of the kids, grand kids great grand kids etc of the men who built Great Britain. All that's needed is a spark to awaken that spirit, and the hard times coming will be a stark wake up. good times make weak men, weak men make bad times, bad times make strong men, strong men make good times.
Amazing how the wooden boards resonate the noise giving us the impression of a full-sized train in motion! Everything's so truly accurate! I just wanna board that train!!! Who's with me?
Massive respect for the build. I’m not a train enthusiast but somehow I have been brought here as I drive trains for a living. This is truly an amazing bit of engineering on a small scale well done for putting it together.
As a young Eurostar Rolling stock engineer just starting their full career in the railway, You sir have truly inspired me, its Beautiful to see where hard work, knowledge and a great passion can lead may years down the line and I look forward to be able to recreate models of the trains I’m growing up working on and seeing everyday. Have a great 2019 😁👍
kids have no respect for other's things or property. Damn punks don't realize these model trains and yard setup aren't cheap. I tell ya one thing. if any punks had any idea of doing that to my property, they're going to meet my Irish Wolfhound attack dog and my 12Ga. shotgun. I don't care if they're kids, they come on to my property with the intent of destroying it they're going to face the consequences. Especially, If they ignore the "NO TRESPASSING" signs.
Why does this video have 14K downvotes??? This gentleman is awesome, can't fathom why people would leave so much hate towards someone sharing their passion.
Анекдот: Что общего между детской железной дорогой и женской грудью? И то и другое предназначено для детей, а играют - взрослые мужчины... P.S. Кепка - "аэродром". Joke: What is common between a children's railway and a woman's breasts? Both are intended for children, and adult men play ... P.S. Cap - "airfield".
Nothing like peace and tranquility while you are relaxing in your garden paradise with a model locomotive train passing through your backyard! Excellent craftsmanship!!
We love steam trains because we turned ordinary materials into magic and had a reasonable idea how it worked. We made these materials come alive, like a dragon, and puff it way up hills as if feeling the strain. And we could see its pistons pushing the wheels like a cyclist. Driven by lowly water and coal and ancient fire. There must be a reason I couldn't stop watching this.
Beautiful job you've done building your locomotive and setup! My father would have loved it... I sat here holding his picture while I watched your video. Amazing job sir, my father would have thought it was Super Cool!! ❤
