Honestly Ron, if the EQ would have maybe 2 or 3 click more on volume, they would be the Kings of earbuds… by far !! I really love the sound of the EQ, so detailed, so punchy, so perfect :)
I'm sitting here with both the EQ's and AZ80's in front of me. And I have to agree with you, although the AZ80 are (a bit) cleaner in the mids and highs they tend to lean a bit too much on mid bass to provide the low end power and punch whereas the EQ's just bump along nice and musically without the low bass ever getting in the way of everything else. That said, the EQ's touch controls, ANC, ergonomics fall way behind the Technics IMO which makes them annoying to use for practical daily use when out and about - a real shame. But on absolute sound quality (for musicality), yes, I would go for the EQ's. Can't hold on to both, so the AZ80's will sadly be going back. Thanks for the reviews Ron, although I know everyone's hearing is different your overall assessment on sound quality always seem to line up with what I've experienced too (I buy way too many buds also!!). I have both; enjoy both.. myself, just like the sound of them, don’t get that audiophile thing with the buds.. to me I have 70s … 80s. Dig listening to them .. b@ o just great sounding music from them.. I can enjoy buds at that level, and then put in my one plus nords,, and dig them to!!!
I bought the Sony WF-1000XM4. The ANC was inoperable. Maybe my ears were not suited as I found them too soft & no bass as most reviewers profess. I then decided to go for Beoplay Ex but it cost NZD780. I managed to get a Seinnheiser Momentum 3 TW for NZD274. It sounds way better than the Sony WF-1000XM4 which I couldn't get the sound as quoted. The signal stability (range) on the Seinnheiser is not as good (pretty bad actually), the ANC compared to Sony's other models which I also purchased Linkbuds S & WF-C500. I am happy for but will get the B&O in time. I haven't heard it, but after the Seinnheisers there's 5db sound different that's major because I like listening to music really loud.
