This is a tearjerker to be sure, but... Imagine, being a Thousand Son, serving with Magnus during the Crusade, watching Prospero burn, seeing Terra itself ground under your boot, surviving millennia in the warp, only for the last thing you ever hear to be "YOU KILLED BOB!!" as a giant smashes you against the ground, and a Space Wolf looks on with glee.

I love how commissars genuinely just become dads basically when they’re in charge of ogryn. It’s so wholesome.

Do not peel potatoes for yourself, peel them for the emperor

This made me cry like a baby, such a simple story of true friendship. "Gav doesn't eat Potato Skins anymore, they just don't taste the same." My heart dude, my heart.

Genuine tears, no clue why Ogryns are so moving, but they are.

Thoughts at the beginning: "It's messed up that Ogryns are ignorantly obedient soldiers, a commander's dream" Thoughts at the end: "HE MADE THE BAD MAN PAY"

Commissar to guardsman: "you lost your las rifle! Cowardice!" Fires bolt pistol Commissar to Ogryn: "you lost your lascannon? Thats ok we'll look for it together." Proceeds to make hit chocolate

Ogryns are fantastic because they are the purest humans. The emperor made the ogryns big and strong to carry their hearts’ into battle.

You know there wasn't a dry eye in that whole damn church when the Space Wolves came in. Imagine them seeing Gav, blubbering as he kept trying to bash the sorcerer's head in, repeating the line over and over again until one of the Marines came over to him to try and console him. I guarantee you that poor bastard had an Ogryn crying on his shoulder plate that day...

"The pants stealers were the worst, gave always made sure his belt was extra tight when he fought the pants stealers." I wish I could experience the brilliance that inspired this line.

Absolutely loved this. They really should not have killed Bob. killing Bob made Gav angry. Gav is scary when hes angry. Gav loved Bob.

I like to imagine that if the Emperor ever met an Ogryn, he would greet him like a father greeting his child

I was not expecting a Warhammer short story about an Ogryn to make me cry... But it did.

Commissar Arry asked Gav what ma' job was. Gav said "Uuuh.. To do what I was told." Arry said it was the smartest thing he ever heard and gave me another medal. "I like da imperial guard!"

I started playing this in a room full of people drinking alcohol...by 1 minute in the drunken cacophony was over and everyone was listening intently. That's impressive. And these people have never heard of warhammer. 'You Killed Bob' is now a thing we say to each other

Ogryn are almost always portrayed as being vicious and stupid. ButI've always thought most Ogryn were alot like Gav. Also I would bet that even if just for the briefest nano second the Emperor saw Gav peeling potatoes for him and it made Him smile.

My grandad would say, "You know you have a good friend,when they stand in the trenches with you"Gav wasn't a Facebook friend,he was Bobs mate.

I just realized Larrykin told Gav and his friends to call him 'Arry' instead of just Larry because, even though it would have been just as simple, it would have made it easier for the Ogryns with speech impediments to pronounce his name. My heart

Listened to this while in a long drive, when I got to the toll I had tears in my eyes. The toll lady got worried, told her I was just listening to a really good story

That went from light hearted to heart breaking pretty fast.

In the Dark Heresy campaign I’m in my gm let me play an Ogryn, Bragg. He went from being a big scary prison warden to being everyone’s favorite character who’s always watching out for his “brothers and sisters”. He’s also made everyone tear up on more than one occasion lol

First time I've actually cried from a 40k reading. RIP Bob, he's with the Emperor now.

I love stories that talk about oygrn always make me smile.but they usually get sad.

This is gonna sound cheesy and sappy but I'd like to preface this comment with an admission: I always skipped the Gav and Bob videos. Never been a fan of ogre/ogryns in both warhammer fantasy and 40k. A couple days ago, I received word that my best friend in college had died. He suffered a massive heart attack while asleep and the paramedics were unable to revive him. He was pronounced doa in the ER. Upon hearing the news, all I could say was "what.." I couldn't process it. It didn't feel real. We haven't seen each other in almost 25 years due to my family and I moving to the US. We kept in touch on and off on social media, making promises to meet again, but with the pandemic, the plans got pushed back and eventually shelved. I spent the next day just ambling about, still in disbelief. I went online and strangely enough I saw this video on the front page. I decided to give it a go thinking I needed to hear something funny. It was not what I expected. By the end of the video I was crying, embarrassingly hard. Instead of making me laugh and forget, this short story helped me remember and sort out what I was truly struggling with inside: I miss my friend. I miss my friend a lot. But now he's gone. I miss the days when all we had to worry about was the next class report. I miss hanging out with him at the local canteen, where we'd play guitar and try to impress girls (and fail). I miss his comforting words whenever I was dealing with family conflict. I wish I was there at his wedding to cheer and make a toast. I wish I was there to slap his back and shake his hand as he welcomed his first born child into this world. I wish could've grabbed that heart disease and crushed it the way Gav crushed that Thousand Sons. I wish I told him how much his friendship meant to me. I will miss my friend for as long as I live. Vox, thank you for bringing voice and life to this story. I really cannot express enough how impressed I am with the quality of content in this channel. This made me cry, Ogrens are the purest things in all of Warhammer. People say no one is pure of heart in the setting, yet here we all are. Listening to the most heartbreaking/warming story to ever exist, let alone exist in the 40k universe. The Ogren that killed a chaos space marine

This right here is a perfect story example of what and how an Ogryn is. Big oversized children. Bob’s last words got me right in the heart. This whole story got me right in the heart.

THIS is why every commissar wants an ogryn for a bestie. Best bodyguards the galaxy has to offer, loyalty beyond measure & a steadfast resolution that should they ever fail in their duty, the person who got to you is going to regret it.

Ogryns remind us deep down that we are imperfect, but we seek goodness, we seek to be loved and love god. Simplicity and service is what the soul seeks, to lift god up above ourselves.

Oogies are the last bastion of innocence. They must be protected for, though crude, their souls are pure. Like if a dog could talk...and peel potatos...and tote bayonetted ripper guns and slab shields. _The_ best boiz.

You should get someone to illustrate this story in a style of childlike drawings. As if Gav was running an in-universe journal of his adventures. But using his own pictures, instead of words.

"You killed Bob!" *slam* The bad man's helmet was leaking this strange powder. "You killed Bob!" *slam* *slam* *slam* *slam* It's so simple, so raw, and so powerful. It's impossible not to cry while listening to Gav's at first furious and then increasingly mournful wails as he pummels the chaos marine long after the guy is dead.

Listening to Ogryn lore brings me to the conviction that; if I were a Guards NCO or officer, I would do my damnedest for the chance to work with Ogryn, would totally dig it.

Holy fucking shit, I cried my eyes out, no joke. I was laughing the whole way but then once he's started smashing the hell out of the CSM while screaming 'You killed Bob!' I broke down in tears feeling his pain for the loss of his friend. Love the narrative being delivered in the simplistic style, like it's an old Ogryn fable being recounted. Wonderful, beautiful, amazing writing!

There’s something so poetic in the way that things are described in this. Something so profound in the child-like way of seeing things. “They were like water that had grown faces” shocked me with how well it described Daemons of Tzeentch. There’s something so simple about it that makes it so oddly beautiful.

Came for badassery, stayed for wholesomeness

Such a wonderful story brought tears to my eyes. When Ari dies, all the Ogryn's cried for Ari, not because he had gone to the Emperor, but because he had left them behind. Keep up the great work! SUBSCRIBED!

Orgyn are endearing as hell, all they what is to help and be praised. Their like an eager child trying to please a parent. OK, more like 600 pound child but you all get it.

Gav only needs to take heart. Bob was called to the Emperors side, and will be waiting there when Gav's time has come. He has to make sure, he has plenty of stories of "making the bad things pay" that he will get to tell Bob all about, once he is called to Terra to take his place on the other side of the Emperor's Golden Throne!

One of my fav parts is Gav's sincere indignation at human traitors and Gav hugged Commisar Arri so hard he got sent to the hospital. "What did the Emprah ever do to them!? Except love them and protect them..."
