The best thing about him is that he never shows off. Other drummers have so many drum solos and such going on, they just make me want to quit playing. Gavin however, inspires me and drives me, not to play like him but to play like my self.

saw him yesterday at a drum clinic :D fucking awesome! i asked him about the live fill he does at the beginning of halo.. and he spends a lot of time trying to answer the questions... really great guy! he Is GOD! i love him... definitely The best drummer ever! cant believe i actually got to have a sort of conversation with him :D Gavin FTW!

i totally know what you mean, but hes definitely far from the only one. theres tons of drummers out there that are incredible good and super humble/really nice at the same time, like almost every death metal drummer lol

that cobra clutch thing is so genius! my drummer and i have talked about how the only double bass option for the hi hat is open, but not anymore. such a genius...

Proud to say I knew of Gavin back in 88 when he played on Sam Brown's cd. I instantly knew he was a top player. Everyone has jumped on the band wagon since then

I agree, that guy is so down to Earth and he's seems like such a great dude. Same with Mike Johnston, but as a teacher you kind of need to be that way.

I f you want to eliminate all the buzz of your snare go to your local supermarket and buy a washing up sponge. Make sure its about 5 inches long and about an inch thick. Lay the sponge along one arm of the cradle and then lay the snare lengthways along the sponge. Works everytime. Give it a go..

Has to be the best AND most humble drummer out there. Credits the sound guy on a couple occasions (by name), says hi to a 'passerby', and then shrugs off several novice questions from the interviewer without a hint of irritation. I do wonder why he uses two of the same A custom sizes.. Maybe certain songs require it on the off-hand? Useful tip on the snare tuning as well, that buzz is always a bitch.

Lamb of God's drummer, Chris Adler, is amazing in his genre and is a real down to earth guy, or at least was when I met him. But you are right, they are few and far between.

Not a criticism in any way since I too use the Remo Controlled Sound Snare head, but if Gavin likes to use 1, 2, or even 3 O-Rings to get the right amount of dampening, shouldn't he be using a head like a Pinstripe? Steve Gadd uses one on his snare drum and seems to dampen the sound for him just fine.

I think its about the flexibility of the sound. With the Pinstripe you only get one sound. Dampened or not.

having that personality definitely gets you a long way in the industry, being a prick will set you back alot. The amount of auditions i'd say i've gotten through just based on the chatting after the playing. Not that harrison even needs it...

Really? Huh. Learn something new every day. I met him after Dream Theater's gig in my town and he didn't seem like it. Not that I don't believe you, I just find it kind of ironic.
