Why the focus or color, race and sexual preference. It's ridiculous. Is she qualified, that's the question!!!! They need to take this power away from ALL govenors and have a election where the people of that state decides!
It is a law passed by the people of California, so that they are never without a Senator. A temprary appointment, an election quickly follows. Jealous? The Governor followed the law and the will of the people. Do you prefer a Governor that breaks the law and supports a minority opinion?
@@MikeW165 not California law. I'm from MN. Remember there is a California constitution also. I would talk to the delegates in that congressional district. There might be something they can do.
Wrong her allegiance is to where she registers. She was registered in Maryland. Why not California to start with? Convenience I suspect. Tax Burden? So she skirted CA to start with.@@MikeW165
@@lawrenceleverton7426 She has only been in Maryland for 2 years. Before that she was registered in CA for 15, as she soon will be again. So whats the problem
California law says that the seat must be filled by the Governor AND an election be held as soon as possible. The California Governor is following the law. You suggest that he break a law. Are you hoping that California would go without a Senator to represent their people to your own advantage?
@@ydargeerht Feinstein’s replacement will be voted on later, meanwhile Newsom jumped to using partiality as he openly stated to the public his temporary choice that favors his side of politics.
If you were in that district you would have voted for the law that gave you continuous, uninterupted Representation when a Senator leaves their seat suddenly... instead of waiting for months and loosing votes in the SENATE like other States do.
And this is exactly why no governor should have the power to elect another senator it should be done by the voters and not buy any damned Governor I don't care if it's coming out of a blue state or red state that par needs to be taken away from the governor even if that seat is held empty until the next election
I agree. There shouldcbe a special election. She can only serve out the remainder of Diane Chinasteins term anyway, then she has to run to keep it. I'm checking the Federal Constitution on it, the State Constitution should have the procedure too. The ppl should always have the say on who represents them. This is a Federal seat. You would think the Federal Constitution has authority over State in a federal position.
The people of California elected the Governor to follow the laws they passed so that they would not ever be without a Senator representing them. They can accomplish something your State can not, continuous Senatorial Representation. The People of California voted for and expect continuous Representation. All appointments are temporary, and an election is held as quickly as possible, as demanded by law.
@@Lacey_Face I also agree with your statement to know Governor I don't give a damn if it's a Democrat or Republican should be able to nominate another democrat or republican to set in a senate seat because quite frankly if you lose a democrat in the house or in the Senate no government Governor is permitted to feel that damn house members seat why should governors have the power or the ability to elect a senator but not another house member
Soooo a lady not actually even registered to vote in ca is now going to represent ca and some of ya say that’s great. Ya know in the past they called her carpet bag- something.
Damn what does that say about California when the Governor can not find a competent person in his OWN State and has to go to Maryland to find her replacement....
