What a sad state the American political system is in. They had to literally pry the reigns on power from her cold dead hands! Any legacy she has was erased by her inability to step aside and make room for new, young lawmakers. Chuck needs to take the lesson from this, and make space for younger, clearer, uncorrupted new public servants.

Anyone else feel it was super cringey for the Democrats to roll the Senator out during the last weeks of her life, in a debilitated state, just for political reasons.

A friend of a friend passed this along: Inside the CA governor’s office, they have a short list of names to appoint into Feinstein’s seat. No surprise there, but at the top of the list is Kamala Harris. Why would Harris step down from VP to become a Senator again? Well the strategy is complex. Harris becomes Cailfornia US Senator again, and the US Senate (controlled by Democrats) confirms a new VP - who is Eleni Kounalakis (the current Lt Governor of CA and former ambassador to Hungary). She is replaced by Barbara Lee (who will be guided into the Newsom’s seat as Governor). Democrats should be able to hold the Senate in the next election, and Harris becomes Majority Leader - a position more powerful than VP. Party leadership knows that Harris would not be the optimum candidate for POTUS, and they don’t want her to announce her own candidacy against Biden. So where does Newsom fit in? He becomes the front runner on the 2024 ticket against Trump and wins in a landslide.

Born and raised in SF, the only legacy we will remember that Feinstein stayed too long, aids had to tell her when to vote. Feinstein died with a net worth 220 million, that is called greed. Too bad it wasn't Briben.

She did so many amazing things for the people in this country. Only thing is we should have term limits because towards the end of her life she was in major cognitive decline which impacts her job, not good. Besides that though she has a beautiful legacy and I’m thankful for everything she fought hard to do

Her whole political life in the Senate did not start until she was 60. She was a brave force. For her whole 30 year term she was the most senior in age. Criminal justice issues became a preoccupation of hers in the Senate, and she pursued legislation on gun control, illegal drugs, immigration reform and hate crimes through the years. She also was a longtime advocate for expanded health care, environmental protection and gay rights. She consistently crossed the 'aisle' in her endeavors.Rest in peace Dianne Feinstein. You put up the good fight for your constituents and country.

being a politician really should not be a very difficult job. all one really need do is decide on any issue what is right and what is wrong.think of the mountain you want to maintain and be able to look down from the top and see all the paths it takes to continue your station in life to do only good at every crossroad.. Diane Feinstein has passed and that is sad that anyone's life ends she tried to do good I am sure... we can always see the mountain she helped maintain and correct any thing we see for the good of all.... if we see fit.
