@@ravenclawreacts She ATE Marine…… In possibly more ways than one?? In her magical 4D -whale- shark stomach?? 😂 i dunno this whole thing is very wild www
@@ravenclawreacts according to other people's comments i've read, marine wanting gura to eat her has been a running joke between them so it's a just a funny addition
If you want to understand to understand, a key thing to understand is what “shinkiro” means. It’s a supernatural phenomena that sailors out at sea find. It’s also used as slang for “mirage”. The name and the song gives a sense of fleeting relationships.
The first "showa era" live from Marine is one of my favorite concerts from Hololive, and her MV are always a treat to watch, she really knows what we want.
I always have fun listening to people breakdown songs into music theory, and it's amazing that we've got someone in the Hololive space to fill that role.
What i think is that in the last car ride, Marine saw Guras melancholic look like she missed the ocean, so she decided to say good ye to Gura so she could return to where she belongs. Gura about to loose her friend while also knowing it was the right thing was torn.. thats why Gawr took over and swallowed Marine whole.. to capture her soul so they could be together inside Guras heart.
Your excitement for a City Pop song from these two entirely matches ours! I hope we hear more originals from both of them in this style. And gotta say again just how much i appreciate your music theory breakdown of Hololive songs! Looking forward to the next one!
I love the editing you've done for this video! there's so much love and effort put into it: the piano on screen, the definitions of certain musical terms, hilarious transitions (SQUIRREL) the intro and subtitles as well. And of course writing out the sheet music. You're doing amazing! Made me laugh and learn a lot too.
I’m so glad there’s finally someone reacting to this song that’s as giddy about seeing the ship develop throughout the mv as I was when I watched it premiere. Also I binged through all of your hololive reactions over the past week and I really love the way you break down each song and all the extra insight you give, keep up the amazing work!!
When watching the premiere I first thought "Ah, Marine adopted another daughter after Aqua" (I mean romantic undertones (and overtones?) are quite obvious in hindsight but that remained my main viewpoint until around the sax solo (I really should have woken up from that delusion by the face touch before Marine took the ship bottle from Gura but somehow I powered through)(start of the sax solo is a pretty good indicator that wasn't the case but I think the final nail in the coffin for my theory didn't come until the handholding at the end of the sax solo).
Fantastic!!! Glad to hear just how phenomenal GuraMarine nailed the song! Learning what actually comprises a citypop song thanks to the analysis Yeah, that romance was absolutely drenched in soft affection and nostalgia thanks to the inherent citypop genre. I heard that Marine sent her idea of the MV to Gura, who agreed to everything Marine suggested! Super fun MV with two *gorgeous* voices overlaying a summer night's love!
Love the song. As you said, Marine and Gura both have great voices for city pop. Really cute MV but yeah I also have no idea what Marine getting eaten was about lol
BTW, Marine produced the MV herself, if I'm not mistaken. It was animated by a AAA studio that worked on popular anime like Uma Musume Pretty Derby, Prince of Tennis, etc. She must have spent a buttload of money on it. The small part at 18:06 with the funny look from Marine is art that Marine herself worked on, if I'm not mistaken (she's an artist that had published manga in the past). If I recall correctly, she said that she invested quite a lot on it but she didn't do because she expected a return, but rather because she really wanted to do that as she's a fan of the 80's, city pop music and the esthetic of classic animation.
Marine devoted an entire live 3D concert to City Pop covers, and Gura's first song in her debut stream was "Ride On Time," so yeah, this was "right up their alley."
Isn't it absolutely insane how good this song is, though? Good 'ole Internet. Nice to watch a breakdown from someone who feels the music in addition to hearing it.
This song hits so many nostalgic vibes for 80s anime, so chill! Appreciate your musical analysis! Also the animation quality is amazing as always with Marine!
Randomly got given this video thanks to the algorithm and man, what a great analysis! I'd also love some City Pop references, I'll admit I never knew that's what that genre was called and once I got hooked on this song and started watching reactions I was like, oh so apparently I like City Pop. Would love to hear more :)
Gura sounds great with these songs and that's why she is nicknamed "City Pop Shark". Marine explained about the video and the bed scene, she used to watch many animated music videos in her "youth" especially she loves those where the animation doesn't have much to do with the song and especially those animated videos that in the end leave you Precisely with that 21:52 "WTF I just saw!" face, she remembered one in particular that she doesn't remember well anymore but it was about a girl who befriends a mermaid but they couldn't play together and she, the mermaid, had to be there all her life in a bathtub, desperate and sad, she cut her tail hoping that they would become legs so she could play with her friend forever, but she died because of that, marine said that she loves those animated videos that leave you like that Unhinged feelings, the song and the video don't have much to do with each other, she also clarified that she talked about it before with Gura and her Manager as well as with her own manager and that the 3 of them looked like WTF!? but Gura said that Marine could do whatever she wanted and that she agreed, the arrangements and the beautiful animation, everything financially speaking was on Marine's part, she pays for everything (luckily she has very good friends), Hololive /Cover.corp does not usually do it, it only helps in the promotion but the payments are on their part. In the end she achieved her goal of leaving you with a long face and your mouth open at the end.
I think the percussion instrument you’re having trouble identifying might be agogô bell. it’s a traditional african (edo/yoruba) instrument that got picked up by Samba and then lots of other jazz and pop styles.
The music is great, their voices work super well and the MV is fantastic. But, I want to shout-out Marine for including karaoke-style lyrics with English translation and parts that are colour-coded for their individual parts and the parts where they sing together. It's a seemingly small technical detail, but it's such a great way to help the kaigai-nikki be included and share in more in how great it is. No wonder Senchou has such a loyal crew.
Great review again, I love how you break down so many different elements of the song and MV, and really go into depth. I know I mentioned it before but once again I'm going to highly recommend you watch and review Nerissa Ravencroft's cover of "Love Me, Love Me, Love Me" she even wrote English lyrics for this song, and she's got an absolutely stunning voice, quite possibly the best pure singing voice in Hololive.
22:50 the speculation would be that gura`s solution to never have to be apart, was to let `Gawr` out (red gura) and eat marine , which was somehow sent into a mindpalace where red gura resides inside gura. or something along those lines.
YESSSSSS!!! Love your vtuber song reactions and analyses!! If only we could gift you infinite time to watch every Nijisanji & Hololive song 😭😭 but if it had to be one, I'm glad you picked this because yeah, the moment the MV started I instantly knew this was gonna be an absolute classic. I can't imagine how much that MV cost but the vibes of the song and the animation were immaculate 👌🏼 Still wishing you'll someday do a deep dive of Enna Alouette. She's got the insane pipes, the hilarious talking vs singing mismatch, being self taught for over a decade and the deep thought she puts into her original songs (incorporating her 'less than perfect' upbringing and making some beautiful positive art out of it). But I know there's a million other requests on top of the anime reactions you already do so I know it's unlikely at the moment 😅
"If only we could gift you infinite time to watch every Nijisanji & Hololive song" Bro same, I would love to have an indepth Ravenclaw reaction to all my favourite Vtuber songs. Thought of course time is limited and it would be unreasonable to ask her to focus all her free time on Vtuber song reactions. But really some of the best vtuber-adjacent but not actually the vtubers themselves content in RU-vid imo.
I'm not familiar _at all_ with City Pop, but this chucked me back to listening to Megumi Hayashibara way back when the Slayers anime owned my soul. I can't put my finger on exactly what track of hers is coming to my mind, but I feel it.
This song makes me cry. The ambiguity at the end makes my heart ache. Is it okay to tie in an existential crisis about how fleeting our time together can be? Alright good. I'm going to return to my fetal position sobbing now.
Thabk you for the very nice analysis of this song. I always liked the way you explain the chords used. However, is it ok with you if you could maybe remove the blue high light on the B-scale? I would really love to try to play while you analyse, but the blue highlight makes it difficult to see which notes you are pressing. Thank you again, and much love from asia
Hello Raven, just here to thank you again for a new upload and also letting you know that it’s for sure not just me that’s waiting for you listen/make a new vid for Suisei/Towa’s lates new songs/album. 😂
Hello, I just want to say I love how you look into the technical aspects in the music and its really helpful with my own journey in musical learning as well. Any chance you would do Midnight Grand Orchestra's new album Starpeggio? because I really want to see you dive into the ins and outs of that album. Again, thank you for this type of reaction/analysis combo videos :D
LMAO the start of the video. Really fitting with what happens in the MV lol. I would love to see you do reactions+analysis of more Hololive songs, or even potentially branching into other vtubers. (There are many many songs to choose from. Thought my Hoshiyomi heart obviously goes to Suisei first. Specter album and Michizure (from Specter) First Take video are probably the biggest things with her. She also is in process of releasing the 2nd MGO album. I while yet till that comes but few of the songs are out. Also of her songs that fall under neither Still Still Stellar, nor Specter and nor MGO I would heavily recommend Planetarium. It is a beautiful song. Thought ideal for me of course would be a reaction of all songs featuring her prominently as a vocalist, but that would be too much to ask at once lol.) (Otherwise more HoloID originals, Kiara's album and AZKi would be my main Holo recommendations)
If you think Gura's voice fits city pop... I think she has a cover of Plastic Love... IDK if you have listened/watched that yet... But still gonna suggest it anyways...
She does have an original city pop song she sang back in the Connect the World concert called Full Color. She said she is waiting on the MV to be released sometime by the end of the year.
I've really gained a lot of respect for EN's Mumei lately. Her song "Mumei" and the subsuiquent fan made game based on that music video called "Nameless" are both quite emotional and enjoyable. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oA0CpI0vCK4.html
SWEET! I was waiting for someone with a knowledge to do a autistic, thorough analysis of the song lol. I still remember & watch your still still stellar review! You thought me about musical hermeneutics & interpretations
That song and video is the gayest I've seen Hololive be. And it's not even "girls' school gay", it's flat out "wake up next to each other naked gay". I'm certain Marine _loved_ doing some of the key animations for the MV.
A classic song in the modern world.. Damn.. And Thank u for the analyst mam 🙏🙇♂️ I think it's only marine who dare to do it to make an original song with that theme while others always trying to make a song that looks popular these day, she also cover a classic song too before this, well she's from 90 and she have a taste of music, classic will always better lol.. Truly a woman of culture, and yeah she really cook it in this song, and gura voice also really fit so well! for me.. Like always too.. If we talk about original music, marine always do a Hugh business with anime animation MV, shit and it's "FULL ANIMATED!" look at the staff in the end, that's a lot of money right there 😂
at first i thought the song was a little too derivative, since it sounded like a mixture of "stay with me" and "sparkle", with a dash of "plastic love". i realized i didn't really actually give a shit because i had the song on repeat for entire days, and well done city pop is just an absolute vibe that never fails to get me in the mood. the song is awesome and the girls sound awesome. also that sax (especially at the end) is just oomph ouch mmmmmmm darn so tasty also i love how you're getting the keyboard out more often! that layout that shows the chord being played is just amazing.
