The best thing about this was it wasn’t like…. Such a drastic “makeover show” where they completely change the people’s looks and put them in anything. They actually took into account what they liked and what they would feel comfortable in and idk that just made me so happy 🥺 so many makeover shows take a person and completely change everything about their look and this just, ugh. Also made me kinda sad that nick is so like insecure about his looks/outfits because he looks fantastic, but I relate

One of the few fashion videos I've seen that actually HAD clothes for the person that fit them, within the criteria they've asked for, and actually just looked good and made SENSE. You have no idea how many poor quality fashion videos there are out there. You guys nailed this one. Be proud. I hope each person is feeling so much more confident in their looks, and are able to embrace their true selves. May they forever, may WE, forever show ourselves off to the world. Because we're here, we're queer, and we ain't going away honey. Seriously though, I'm still discovering my style since coming out as trans (agender specifically) years ago, and it's honestly as Alley has said it's a journey to re-explore what you've never gotten to growing up. That's why it's such a blessing when parents let their kids, who come out as trans, explore and be who they are from the get go. Because you have to rediscover ALL of that and then some again when you do finally realize who you are when you're 20, 30, etc. It's so important. Gosh now I wish I had a fashion consultant who'd help me shop xD Seriously, ty for this, sorry this is so long, but I just wanted to share my joy

You absolutely can build that confidence up. I have found as I get older I care less and less how I'm viewed by other ppl and I used to wear incredible uncomfortable bras and stuff one side of it to hide breast asymmetry. I haven't worn a bra in years. Be brave. Try things on that you would never try before but just remember that the more comfortable you are in yourself the more you will experiment. I'm well on my way to being the coolest most fashionable 43 year old ever!!!! I did love all fashion magazines growing up, even if I wasn't into a certain look it gave me ideas about how I could cater that look to me. It's like looking at architectural digest and home decor magazines. Not many ppl can afford the showrooms in these homes however, you can work hard and get the same vibe of the look in your own home very inexpensively. Look at fashion magazines not for the toothpick bodies or the brand name goods. Look at the magazine for a generalization of trending fashions, see which ones love the most and hit a Ross, Marshall's, any sales to accomplish your personalization of that look. Also, you must have the basics. A little black dress or suit for example. I hope I helped a little bit. Goodluck on your journey of self discovery!!! ✨️

As part of America’s queer youth, I use fashion to express myself a lot. I’m in a very conservative area so I can’t just say “I’m gay” or “I’m trans” but I say it with my fashion. I get clocked as gay by other queer folk and a lot of my cishet conservative peers try “calling me out” for being gay because of how I dress, but I get out of it by accusing them of just being jealous that I dress better than them (since these people still think calling someone gay is an insult).

I'm not even a part of the LGBTQ+ community, but seeing Eugene's growth into becoming someone so comfortable and proud of who he is, even after such a long period of feeling so ashamed of this part of himself, is honestly just such an inspiration. And seeing the way he takes that energy and actively creates spaces for others to speak and be heard and grow into themselves - I am really in awe of this man. I cannot even IMAGINE how influential his presence could be on a young queer person. I'm just so happy for him and proud of him and inspired by him.

THIS!! i'm not a part of the community, either, but was raised at a time when strong stereotypes for even men and women restricted and suppressed us and didn't just let us be who we were meant to be based on our personalities. (think perfect wife who dressed up to serve the hubby his cocktail as he walked in the door from work) i am not a lace ruffle/girl! he is inspirational to just give us all confidence to be who we feel we are and not who our culture/family/society says we have to be. i think allowing all people to grow into their own selves with confidence will go a long way in helping the mental health of society.

I'm asexual, and one of the things that has really surprised me is how much my sense of fashion and style has changed since figuring myself out and coming out. I think when I thought I was supposed to be looking for/interested in attracting sexual partners a lot of what I wore was focused around how I was being viewed by others, but now I have a lot more fun just wearing things that make me feel happy and comfortable. I used to roll my eyes a bit when people said things along the lines of ''clothes make the man'' but what you put on can have such a big impact on the vibe you give out
@bluefox5331
@bluefox5331 2 года назад
Same experience here! Well, maybe a bit different- for me it was more so discovering the label than myself, and then also that I'm biromantic. Before I focused on how others would view me, so I despised anything that could be read as "feminine". I don't want to be looked at like a "woman" that's "supposed to be sexy" so I avoided anything that could grab attention. Ended up in jeans and a T-shirt over the top, and a sweatshirt on top of that. Now that I am more comfortable I finally feel like I'm having fun with fashion. No idea if I am 'fashionable' but having fun is good enough I hope :D. I remember how a few years ago I was slowly trying out having the shirt tucked in the pants, not on top, and even that was so new to me that for a while I was uncomfortable

I love the new Try Gays concept and I can't wait to see where this series goes! There are many important conversations to be had; please consider misconceptions around bisexuality as one of your topics. Such as "you need to be one of each gender to be happy". Or that once you're in a serious relationship, you've now "decided" whether you're gay or straight - that the potential to be attracted to the 'other' somehow goes away once you've found your partner. So often bisexuality is treated as a state of indecision rather than a genuine sexuality. And the whole conversation around "straight privellage" - that a bisexual with a partner of the opposite sex isn't immediately readable as anything other than straight, therefore they dont face any issues in society. There can be a lot of ignorance, resentment and rejection from the very community you once considered allies, like you've 'sold out' somehow and no longer belong. It would be great to open a dialogue and get multiple perspectives of this on your show 💜💜💜

This would be interesting. I came out as bisexual 4 years ago and my stepdad still says I just haven't "chosen" whether to be gay. Im currently in a straight passing relationship and my parents decided it was a phase. So it would be interesting to see how other people in the LGBTQ+ community feel

My friend came out to her best gay friend as bi growing up - he basically made her feel like bisexuality didn’t exist. That it was transitional. Either a phase or a fear of truly coming out. I think that’s something that’s so hard to hear from someone you trust and would expect to understand and accept. Their mom used to quote Lady Gaga back at her when she (not out to her family) would try to explain the possibility of some star choosing to switch their partner for a different gender could be bi and not just coming out as gay “Honey, they’re born that way, they’re gay now”. Facepalm. I think my friend would love it if the media had more bisexual representation that wasn’t fetishized. Kelsey is a great example.
