Opryland Hotel opened on November 24, 1977, on land adjacent to the Opryland USA amusement park. The hotel was originally built to support the Grand Ole Opry, a Nashville country-music institution that had moved to the area three years before. The hotel at that time had 580 guest rooms and a ballroom. The Magnolia Lobby was designed to resemble a grand Southern mansion with an impressive staircase and a Tiffany-style chandelier. Today, the Opryland Resort features 2988 guest rooms, 700,000sqft of convention space, and welcomes 11 million visitors & guests annually. Have you been to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel? What did you think of this video?
I’ve been recently. It’s overwhelming and confusing to navigate without a GPS 😂. Ultimately, it’s trying to replace Opryland the theme park. Which was really much better and more entertaining. But I’m biased because I used to be a performer there.🤷♀️
@Miaya1 Thank you! That music track comes from the music service I use. The artist is Steven Beddall and the track is called Slaptastic. artlist.io/royalty-free-music/song/slaptastic/122644
So fyi park at the mall and there is a back walkway into a side entrance into the hotel…free. It’s closer to walk and safer away from traffic….speaking of roller coasters..The site the mall was built on used to be an amusement park called Opryland…it had roller coasters….There is a hospital called Centennial Medical center in Nashville that has an atrium that was designed by the same person who designed the one in the hotel…..it’s a great place to stay and you can of course use your Marriott points if you have enough…..Come during Christmas…the decorations are amazing!
I wish I had the opportunity to visit Opryland. I remember when they said they were shutting down the park for the mall in the 90s, Good to know about that back walkway. I will return for sure. 😀
Stayed there a couple of times. Love it there. Had a room overlooking the gardens. Left the balcony doors open all night just to hear that waterfall. So relaxing.
I went there last year(2023) before Thanksgiving and they had it set up for Christmas and it was wonderful there definitely a 2 day visit to see everything, plus they had horse and carriage rides outside as well it was really nice there I definitely enjoyed it.
We were just there & we loved it. We had so much fun. We stayed in rooms with balconies overlooking the beautiful courtyard filled with real plants & trees. Beautiful experience- about 500. a night. We had three rooms & loved it here.
I went and stayed there in 1988. Also Opryland amusement park was open then and we went to a live show Nashville Now and saw MiniPearl, Tanya Tucker, Grandpa Jones and Ralph Emory. They used to have a waterfall in the atrium that you could walk behind. It was amazing and beautiful!. The only thing that Opryland Hotel is lacking now is a casino!!!!!!
One cool thing they have scooters you can rent for 50.00 a day, keep it in you’re room & even take it outside of the hotel. I drove mine to the Grand Old Opry , no problem & it was fantastic!
i love this hotel. so much to do. everything there has a significance from the past including the trees you mentioned. All the greeneries are imported. My favorite is the bonzai tree that was planted in the middle of the lake.
That box you ran into in a few places is most likely a humidity/temperature/carbon dioxide sensor that is used for monitoring and keeping ideal conditions for the plants. Greenhouses have those.
Sadly what you didn’t see because they got rid of them was the hand painted murals on the walls outside the convention center. They were painted in the 70s and 80s and I guess when they updated the older part of the hotel, they just covered it up with “Modern Grey textured wallpaper”. So bland and boring. The murals were a sight to behold. Trains, wagons, stores, a historical look back at post civil war Nashville. And they were HUGE just like the rest of the hotel. It was a crime against art to cover it up. 😢 I’m surprised I didn’t find any articles about it or any outrage online. If you Google “Gaylord Opryland Convention Murals” you can find photos online on what they looked like.
My husband and I stayed there for Valentine’s Weekend. It was a Very comfortable stay. The added charges for parking and the gardens was a bit much. Glad we did it but wouldn’t do it again.
In the late 70's and well into the 80's there was parking was free. After a few years of Christmas lightings, they started charging $5.00 to park and each year the price increased. As a boy growing up in the area, I remember it being the Rudy's Farm land and passing through it to go fishing on the Cumberland River.
Hey Maverick! I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm from St.Paul and it looks like we have similar interests in adventures. I had to give you some support.
I’ve lived in the Nashville area for over 25 years. And funny story, the first few years that I lived here, my house was on the same grid as the Opryland Hotel. When they turned on their Christmas lights my first year here, the entire grid went dark 🤣 they did sort it out, and it did not happen again while I lived in that area, but it was both irritating and funny. …anyway, their Christmas lights are not something to miss. Cheers ✌️
I will definitely have to return around Christmastime to check it out. That is funny you were on the same grid as the hotel and they sucked up the power from the neighborhood. Maybe next Christmas I should come over and we will deck your house out like the Griswalds in Christmas vacation and return the outage favor to the hotel lol 🙂
We came in July and the entire interior atriums were completely air conditioned and cool even with it being nearly 100 degrees outside. A room with two double queen size beds was $477 and the water park was not included.
I've always seen this place from outside. But the interior looks stunning. Based on this video, I was considering a stay there but once I saw the jumbo-sized Space Invaders game in the basement shot, I will definitely be staying here.
I know I'm late to the game, but the sensors you found monitor temperature and humidity levels to help keep things comfy for the people and the plants. Also, the horse and donkey statues were the mascots the the TV show Hee Haw... specifically the donkey. Native Tennessean here.
WOW!!! This is incredibly generous of you... thank you so much for the kind words and donation to the channel!! I would like to send you a T-shirt. Please email me at maverickhayeschannel@gmail.com so I can get your information. You are super awesome... thank you again!! 😀😀
Strange name lol. This place incredible. Never knew it existed. I wanted to go to the pyramid in Memphis but I'll probably throw this in too on my trip sometime soon hopefully. I'm in Vancouver Canada.
It is a must see for sure and if you are already headed to Tennessee I would definitely recommend checking it out. Nashville itself is worth a little getaway. Thank you for watching & have a great trip! 🙂
Mav @ Nash you are killing me hahahaha!!!!! Thought the horse was a CHICKEN LOL! Then an ASS (jackass) at NASH LOL! You are so witty I love it 😍I live in Clarksville about 50 miles from there, stationed at Fort Campbell 1992 and retired there 2004 and loved the area and stayed, anyway I have never heard it called Nash, Nashville Cats but never Nash. I am hooked on your outstanding videos to plan family vacations not just summer vacations but for every school break. You are funny, give very good information to plan a trip to wherever you are at, and I enjoy watching you never boring. Keep them coming, I will support with money to keep these videos coming and Bless You and Your Family 🙏
It's funny as I have only heard "Nash" from a couple of people and saw the shirts. It must be a tourist thing. It wasn't a chicken horse breed? ha! THANK YOU for the kind words and your support! It means a lot to me!! I am glad you enjoy the videos and my silliness. Much more to come. See you in Nash by the chicken horse 😅
@@MaverickHayes They were tourists or recent tranplants. There's the old name for the city (Nashborough) and there's the name the name the hip-hop community (yes, we have one) is trying to popularize: Cashville.
There is no "Nash" as far as I know. The new wave may be pushing it on different platforms. Since Nashville is all of Davidson county, most Middle Tennessee citizens refer to specific areas having to do with local travel and business. For entertainment purposes, fun or business, it's Nashville, nashvegas, or as mentioned... cashville.
Just came across your channel and loved this video. The hotel looks amazing. I really like the music also that starts at 5.43 - Do you have a music list/ or link for this please? Cheers, and happy vlogging!
Did you know about the Nashville flood in 2010? It flooded most of the lower parts of the hotel + the Opry building + the Opry Mills mall next door. The hotel re-opened in only six months! You definitely should check out the photos of it flooded. They're going to remodel parts of the hotel beginning this month. That outdoor pool (with the duck) is going to be replaced with something else. I first visited the place in 1991 at Christmas. We didn't even have to pay to park back then! The Delta had not been constructed at that time.
Haven’t been in a while. Don’t guess we went through that entrance. It looks different. Don’t remember the big waterfall. There was an area with lots of restaurants and gift shops . There was a boat ride .
I actually use the Sony ZVE-10 camera. It's a fantastic camera when on a tripod but I have found for vlogging on the go it's not so great. I am looking into going a different direction with cameras later this year. Until then I try to keep it as steady as possible, use the stabilizer feature in the camera, and then I try to stabilize some of the video tracks in post. Sorry about the bounciness. I am looking to get it corrected soon. Thank you for the suggestion and watching! 😉
Hello... I want to come back during the holidays within the next few years. No problem on the "Nash". I will call it "ville" in the next video haha 😅 Thank you for watching!
Sir I liked the video but I think a gimbal would improve your videos. And if you can image stabilizing. Also I’m not sure what video setting you had on but if you boost the frame rate up to 60/120 it smoothed the video out a lot. 1080p resolution is great even for 4K televisions. Not meant to crap on your video but some people get incredibly motion sick watching videos so smoothing it out really helps a lot. Otherwise awesome video.
You will need to do what I did and park across the street from their main entrance. You can probably park in the shopping mall lot and walk too. The hotel lots are for guests only, unless you want to pay to park there.
"Mind Blowing"?? lol People are getting wise to these clowns. Who in their right mind is going to pay over $337 A NIGHT to stay in a cheesy place like that? And, buy a camera with image stabilization. That was nauseating. Super shaky footage.
To be fair, I have lived in Nashville area for over 25 years. But if I was visiting for the first time, I would book a hotel elsewhere and just visit Opryland hotel, it is super expensive ✌️
