I may not be a fan of Gayton, but simple logic is that the difference between Gayton and ANC ministers is that Gayton has at least served and completed his prison sentence, while most ANC minister/criminals are on the free.
Don't particularly care that he went to jail, if he ends up giving our laws some teeth and get the police well disciplined, well resources and effective - then a guy who's done time is what we needed. We've had plenty of ministers who deserves to do time but just never did. We should only care about results, if he gets corrupted by his new power, then throw him back in jail. Nobody in SA should have any patience any more with official going forward. Do your job well, or get out the way.
The thing with corruption is too deep.and it starts with us South Africans.what do you think you are doing when you give traffic cop 20 rand,or paying police.we look at those at the top.i know they are doing the worst.

Digital nomad visa, will just make it extremely expensive for locals in the Western Cape, housing is already 3x more expensive than anywhere else in the country. Also, we need to move away from being tourism driven, did we forget the pandemic, and how our tourism industry had to suffer, due to geo-politics? So, we need to prioritize being a service-product based type of country like Singapore. That way if we provide products and services that the global community needs, they will be beholden to us, instead of us to them.
On being a service-based economy, I disagree with you. I think that still leaves you beholden to others. In an ideal world, of course, your economy should be mixed so that you can weather any shocks in particular sectors. But personally I would prefer that we have manufacturing or farming-based economies. We should have a population equipped with the knowledge and skill to build things, and we should be able to feed ourselves. If your country is able to take raw materials and process them into finished goods, you're better off than (for example) extracting oil then having to send it out of the country for refinement then buying back your own oil again. Look how certain countries hold others to ransom over things like medicines/vaccines. They produce it for $5 and sell to you for $300. At any time they can decide to close the factory and you can't do anything. Service-based economies like Singapore, Dubai, London, Switzerland etc might look glitzy and glam but it just takes a financial meltdown to happen and you're seeing high unemployment, home repossessions etc.

I am a Namibian and I agree with you Gaytone because this is good for the country. This will bring political stability and unity. You are not a sellout because this what South Africans voted for.
Take the police ministry and use the criminality of an illegal foreigner to launch a campaign against mass deportation along with securing the boarders. Home affairs would be the 1st partner & SANDF for deportation and boarder security. If Gayton can secure ministry of police I will join the PA and focus on the deportation & Boarder security campaign.
As long as Mr MacKenzie will conform to the law of the country, whether he is going to be in the Dept of Home Affairs or SAPS. If he protects the state from unnecessary claims as well, he's welcome to those positions.
