I remember being in primary school, I participated in a choir, iscathamiya, zulu praises. There were other genres that my fellows also participated in. There used to be regional competitions building up to national competitions in traditional dances. I’d love to see all that come back in our schools.

Well done Minister. We have to bring 1 or 2 periods in school time-table for physical education from grade 1 to 7 and each and every school should have a trained physical education educator to take care of leaners outside the classrooms within the school campus. This will help leaners physically as well as mentally healthy.

Gayton Mckenzie has managed to turn an other wise useless department to a visible one. I'm sure the ANC and the DA thought giving Gayton sports was a perfect way to sideline him. They'll probably decide to remove him from the executive altogether.

As a athlete of extreme sport of skateboarding, I would like for the department to help skateboarding grow and have proper skateparks which children can learn, practice, enjoy and see that it is a sport they can qualify for Olympics and also make our country proud.

Thank you Minister Mackenzie for this positive move when it comes to grassroots promotion. There should be a real curriculum within schools structures to promote sports arts and culture. Not all of our children are academics but they could survive through sports, arts and culture and all this should be cultivated from primary schools through to tertiary.
