omg i absolutely love your videos!!!! im normally a fan of anything allison 250 powered but seenas ive been up close to a gazelle a while back they facinate me more and more!! its just a small request, but if you get the chance to video it again, please record the startup and once he engages the rotor system :) thanks
@jettech7 i agree fully, bringing an aircraft like these to life is part of the appeal!...today's modern systems take all the fun out of the anticipation before, finally, leaping in to the air
As for location? The radio frequency suggests ATC in Blackpool in Lancashire. Pity the rest of the start-up is missing, but love the comment; "...like starting the boiler..." flight training by Fred Dibnah like.
the gazelle is awesome, and still a very impressive and capable machine for its age, and I know I am very lucky to be able to fly in her.it is away at the moment having its 12 year inspection, and when it returns it will be just like yu-het . with new blue paint and cream leather
My first ever helicopter flight was in one of these and the back seat (well the whole aircraft) is very snug lol. And i did the worst thing ever.....i told the flight captain i had never flown before, my arse skimmed the tree tops back to camp!!
Only buy one if you need to dump some money to avoid paying tax. Once you qualify to fly one, you could self fly hire as needed for around £500 per hour at a guess.
A bit informal as far as startup tutorials go. (lol) It may be time to record and post a newer updated version with more precision and explanations. No need to rush through it; take your time and thoroughly explain. Note: Kind of surprised that the clock is a mechanical windup type.
Not sure why my vids are coming out small ? Maybe you have to hold the phone landscape to get full size ? 🙈bloody crap with phones . Your vids are great 👍
Why did the start light not go out after the start sequence? Should go out when stable at 25000 shouldn't it? Or have all the Gazelle's I've flown been messing me around?
It looks like a pain in the ass to start. It would be nice if you only had a key with an Chrysler Gear Reduction Starter. So many buttons and knobs to operate just to start the damn thing.
Not until you pull the throttle lever in to flight idle, (locked in to governor position) the gazelle like some other helis has a clutch to remove the main rotor and fennestron load from the turbine while it starts up and reaches ground idle.
