If you are confident you have the ability to beat the erg standard by say 10-15s, does it make sense to "only" beat it by ~5s and save a bit of energy for the 5K the next day? I guess it comes down to just how much weight is put on the two tests, right?

How competitive are the trials between the rowers? I've seen Robson can go 5.48 on the 2km so will you be gunning for that, or is it all smiles and "yeah buddy" when you pull sub 6.05 regardless of who's faster? (After the puking ofc). Good luck. Hope we get to see some trials yammin'

Looks like the U23 lightweight 2K is a 6.35 and the open class is a 6.30, still pretty damn fast for lighties

"overweight"?? sounds like they need to shed weight :-) I checked the concept2 ranks and their definition of (mens) heavyweight is anyone above 72kg or so? Is that the same for " real" rowing? (in that case I think a lot of rowers are over/heavyweights?) Seems like a really arbitrary number?
