GBO2 GM Sniper II: Leg breaking sniper!

This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV1 and LV3 GM Sniper II on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 400-550 cost support with a fast cooldown primary stun, great leg breaking ability, balancer skill alongside a beam saber, nice walking speed and long range on the rifle. Its weaknesses would be a complete lack of stun accumulation, low damage, slow boosting speed despite its closer up playstyle and an absolutely tiny projectile on the rifle which makes it hard to aim. This suit is given a lot of flack in the community and for good reason, especially considering how much stronger 400 cost supports have gotten. But if you can resist the urge to snipe at max range with this thing and instead follow alongside allies to help break legs and assist with stuns then it can actually perform okay sometimes. My aim with suits like these aren't the greatest but I think I was able to show off how the suit is best played. I hope that you enjoy watching!
The GM Sniper II can choose between a sniper rifle, bullpup machine gun or GM Command beam gun for its primary weapon. The bullpup makes it a worse version of any of the machine gun wielding supports at 400 cost, while the beam gun makes it an inferior version of the GM Sniper Custom ML or Gelgoog Ground Type. The LV1 sniper rifle has 1600 power, 6 ammo, 4 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds reload, 1 second swap time, 800m range, 0% stagger value and 1.5x leg damage modifier. This weapons base damage is what you might expect on a 300 cost support rather than a 400 cost one, but the total leg damage is increased to 2400 thanks to extra leg damage modifier. It is hard to aim because of the small projectile but it has short cooldown time which can be useful to intercept enemies chasing allies or to be used in melee stunlock situations.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 1850 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and standard modifiers. Its power is a little below average for a 400 cost suit, but support type advantage means this can hit surprisingly hard against generals. The suit also has the advantage of the balancers skill to melee swing after a boost, so don't feel afraid to use this.
Its first sub weapon is a hand grenade with 1100 power, 3 ammo, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 1 second swap time and 50% stagger value. You won't be able to make use of the stagger value yourself but using these is essential to make your damage output somewhat passable, so you should always try to stay close enough to the frontline to be able to throw them at enemies.
It also has a large shield with 3000 HP. This improves the lackluster durability and also has the benefit of boosting walking/turning speed by 15% once broken. This boosts the default walking speed to 138, which can be quite useful if your shield gets blown up early into a life.
The LV1 GM Sniper II has 13000 HP, 18 ballistic/beam resist and 6 melee resist. The durability is a little below average for 400 cost but it also has the benefit of a shield to make it more in line with the rest of the cost.
It also has 120 walk speed, 155 boosting speed, 55 thrust and 54 turning speed. The walking speed is a little more than what other 400 cost supports get but the boosting speed is slower than what you would want for a support with melee ability. This can make it a hassle at times to keep up with the frontline but it is still workable.
Overall I think that the Sniper II is a really flawed suit in great need of a buff. It gives up so much of the tools that all the other 400 cost supports get basically just for a long range rifle and good leg breaking ability. It would need a pretty big rework to be on par with the better sniper supports at this cost like GM Sniper III or Gelgoog Ground Type. I think that the rifles cooldown should be buffed to 3.5 seconds, buff the rifles damage to 1800 base and +200 per level, lower the end lag after firing the rifle, add piercing to the rifle, increase the size of the rifle projectile, buff the rifles stagger value to 70%, buff boosting speed to 170 and add the same vulcan pod that the Sniper II White Dingo uses as a sub weapon. This would improve its ability to follow alongside the team and support them with staggers while also making it easier to make use of the beam saber after stuns. It would also improve its lacking damage output. In its current state though I think it would be best to avoid taking into rated matches if you want to win. The way my jaw dropped when I saw Geara Doga and realized what cost you were playing in followed by the way my heart sank when I saw he was on top of you, and then the fuckin hype I felt when you broke his legs. Can only imagine how it felt playing that moment LOL

For the apex of federation production suits it sure doesn't have all that much going for it. Needs a side arm like the mg or beam gun, better projectile size, and various other tweaks to keep up with other 400 supports.

I've literally had a team mate waiting behind a guy because I was just tackled, I automatically assumed that when enemy s were up he'd attack instantly to protect me and attack the enemy and to defy my expectations, he WALKED into the guy who had just tackled me and got combo'd to death despite already having his beam saber out, seeing his s disappear and WILLINGLY walk into the enemy downswing without any attempt at attack.

@dubborino979 I'm not sayin this so you'll stop playing the game. I mean it's gets more competitive for sure, but it still feels the same. You'll always be ranked with people below your skill level for match balancing. I still enjoy the game at times. You just gotta learn to take the losses as an extension of the simpler times.

I miss the old days where I could run this with the machine gun, a level 2 or 3 reloader, and as many ranged damage parts as possible, and just clean house. Simpler times, man.

​@@aurelliadarkwater1136Same, I usually choose a machine gun over rocket launchers. They're not meta though, sadly, and in a 1v1 you're most definitely at a disadvantage. Try to stick with the team. I use any suit/weapon I want because I play to have fun

@@JamesJohnsonQ i wish the highmobility late zaku had a machinegun sub weapon, i find myself using the psycho zaku mk2 as a sort of ad-hoc general because it gets a rapid fire version of the MMP-78. sort of a LARP pretending to be a normal zaku but atleast my supports cant complain im not trying

I only just try to nail the chrome dome or body shots since shooting the feet is troublesome 50/50 with the shield, 50 just slipping through the cracks. never knew this can actually work.

I like how he play: no flashy left/right head shake to get some meager field vision, instead focus on what's ahead of him, and still perform well with his shots. It's an ease to know that you can still play this game without causing motion sickness.

Cause this video was before the buff. Before the buff, it had 0% stagger accumulation on the sniper rifle.

With its recent buff, the GM Sniper 2 is still not that good in the grand scheme of thing and it can't really defend itself against a charging raid, but it actually do damage now and it's shorter reload does noticeably help. Aside from adding a sub weapon, I really hope they either increase projectile size or increase the AOE radius

I think if it got 170 boosting speed then it would be in a strong position. The damage actually got a big buff on console, since they didn't just buff the rifle damage. The extra range mod granted to the suit plus Precision Shelling makes the damage feel nice now.

Overtune Ranged. Boosts ranged damage dealt by 1%, with +3% for each MS level up to a maximum of +10%.

Alright, I gotta ask. Do you feel the straight damage buff is more effective than the enhanced part damages? I see you went all ranged damage, and am not yet sure which is better. As usual, thanks for the great video.

Straight damage buffs will do more damage to the parts (legs/head) than just using the actual part damage items. At best you would add them to supplement the general damage mods.

@@tbc1880 How damage works in this game is that the number of your base suit damage (melee or range) is flat number that actually % based. So when a suit has melee damage stat of 20 and range stat of 25, it deals 20% more damage from it melee weapon and 25% more damage from it range weapon. Example: Beam Saber does 1500 base damage, melee stat of 20 means 1500 x .2 = 300 more damage from the base damage, equaling to doing 1800 melee damage Beam Rifle does 1800 base damage, range stat of 25 means 1800 x .25 = 450 more damage from the base damage, equaling to doing 2250 range damage Note: This is not taking into account of type advantage/disadvantage or def stat from the enemy suit as that gets more complicated

I always go for ranged damage over parts damage, unless I can use parts damage as filler for suits that are good at breaking legs. But now if you have a fully enhanced suit and the part from Sazabi FF banner it is almost always possible to run Composite Frame instead.
