GM Sniper Development History 

I don't know why I said Gundam Lore in the beginning, or why I didn't spot it during editing lol. Also, anyone mentioning the scarlet team will be sniped on the spot. Bonus fact for people reading the pinned comment: The Fellowbooster was nicknamed F.F. by Federation soldiers, which supposedly stands for FlatFish in reference to its shape. (The flatfish in question is the olive flounder, aka Japanese flatfish) Personally, I’d like to believe that the Fellowbooster had an FF model number (like the Tin cod, Core Booster, etc.) and that this in combination with the shape led to FlatFish becoming the nickname(instead of F.F.)

Zeon: makes new mobile suits. Federation: slaps new parts on it, calls it a new mobile suit. Zeon paid too much.

One of the silliest things about UC Gundam is the millions of GM offshoots that were apparently developed and manufactured in the few weeks between the GM's introduction at the Battle of Jaburo and the end of the war, and the fact that not a single one of these were fielded at Solomon or A Baoa Qu. Star Wars has a similar problem with the Empire apparently having countless TIE variants that they never bothered to take to Endor, but the problem is made far worse in Gundam due to the short time-frame involved.

After seeing all these mobile suits in Gundam Battle Operation 2, I really appreciate learning the history behind them. Makes me wish for simulated battles of key parts of the One Year War through the Gryps Conflict.

Heh ... Staying in cover waiting for the target to appear and count your heart beats befor pulling the trigger but for the GM sniper ... I have to choose between the beam and solid ammo .. Beam is easily tracked and if a zeon pilot found out where I was I would be forced to find another spot but solid ammo is hard to track

I have to admit, I love the GM Guard Custom. That big ass shield is awesome. If I had to pilot a "standard" MS it'd probably be the Guard Custom.

I'm not surprised there are that many of them. Snipers are a different breed. They have to stay even cooler than normal soldiers under fire. Because finding the shot, then taking the shot is an art form.

I would personally love to see a development history of the MSA-003 Nemo and the other Nemo's that spawned from it as the mobile suit is something of a favorite of mine from the Zeta era.

1:20 Oh hey, the GBO2 version! I was pretty annoyed the HGUC GM Sniper lacked that backpack. it was just the GM Ground painted green and given the rifle from the WD Sniper 2/Ground War Set.

I’m generally surprised there isn’t a Jegan sniper type. Considering how popular the Jegans were during there prime.

I love it when people try and strain their brains to make sense of these kinds of giant robots. I'm an old school Battletech fan and it gets me every time! Most of any Gundam series happens in space amongst orbiting colonies. It's like the beginnings of a Dyson Sphere (no, the gargantuan sphere in Star Trek TNG doesn't count) at the time of 0079. And Tomino *knew* that giant robots wouldn't work in real life unless they were floating in zero-G. The gravity of Earth, and PHYSICS, makes BattleMechs and Mobile Suits, impossible.

I really like the look of the Sniper II. I like them all. The GM Sniper is my fave of the GMs

It's always amusing for me to see iron sights and scopes on these mobile suits. If they had the tech to make a fully articulate anthropomorphic machine, they sure as hell would have invented combat computers that do all the aiming and targeting for the pilot. But hey they still use coincidence range finders in a lot of mecha anime so it's probably just aesthetics.

Hi-Zack Custom is my favourite mass production MS in the game Kidou Senshi Gundam : Giren no Yabou series. Perfect balance of cost, performance and production time.

You know military snipers in real life do more scouting and reconnaissance and less actual sniping as they are task to prevent their team from dying. This is basically what I heard from military people. The GM Sniper II should be completely black to camouflage better in space as they were used in 0080 pretty much out in the open with their bright blue colors.

Thanks Kakarot for another informative video. I love Sniper types just as mich as I love Melee based suit and High Mobility types. I wish the next main line gundam has either a kick ass Female MC, a Main Gundam with Sniper Parts option or just a Sniping one or both.

BTW the GM spartan inspired the Spartan armor from Halo

HG GM Guard Custom. I had a little too much trouble trying to pose it holding shield and beam gun normally, so I said "I CAN FLY!!!", put beam daggers on wrists and had it stand on the board...I mean shield.

Ironically if Zeon made a Zaku like this and place them in squads they could have easily won a decent number of engagements with Gundams, let alone other mobile suites.

They should create a GM Commando team with all the sniping abilities.

In the Gundam battle operation 2 game it said that the GM sniper 2 was very difficult to maintain and thus was never able to perform at it's max capacity.

Never did understand why they didn't continue to make sniper units they always seem to be super effective I mean even the zaku sniper which was built off a zoku one still super effective in the time of unicorn

While it was stated that the GM Kai High Mobility Type was said to have been modified to match the GM II, it really didn't. While it was faster and had more powerful thrusters, it's cockpit and generator were first generation. Meaning no 360 panoramic view, and the generator had the same output as the GM Sniper II. It's sensors also didn't compare to the GM II either. This kind of shows that the Titans only said it was a match and never really intended to formally adopt the GM II into their forces because they weren't responsible for it's development, unlike the Gundam Mark II.

If I got my hands on a GM Sniper II, I'd mod the hell out of it to be specialized as a close-range gunslinger with super-advanced close targeting systems and performance enhancements to up its agility and thruster efficiency. Nothing would be able to touch me.

Outside of a few models here and there, I have seen and/or used most of these GM/G-Line models in GBO2. Just too bad that in general most Sniper units do not go beyond GM models, Zaku I and lastly the Hi-Zack custom. Especially when the Jesta or Geara Doga could make just as good if not better Sniper models.
