Here I show a setup of Clamp settings on a medium resolution Cruis'n USA game. I use the clamp settings to stabilize the color and video levels on the output of the gbs 8200 converter board to an lcd monitor.
I cannot explain enough how much this video saved me. Had an issue with an Atari I'm upscaling which was doing the same thing and I've been pulling my hair about why the color keeps getting brighter and washed out. This cleared it all right up.
Thank you awesome video, just got mine today and works great thanks to you.Mine was a hdmi converter and work just the same.Save me a lot of headaches.Great job....
Good lord, you literally saved me a 250 mile ride getting a 25 inch medium rez monitor for a GT2005. I was getting the washed out screen and was ready to give up. THANK YOU!
Thank you for this video. I was having this exact problem on a Daytona USA sit down game that I was considering putting an LCD monitor into. I have the same converter board. It worked great at first and played great, but would go very pink in a couple of minutes. I ran out of time yesterday but figured that I'd have to play with the clamp settings. You saved me some time for sure! Can't wait to get back to the shop. Thanks!
Hello! I have a Daytona USA Twin cabinet. When I set the clamp settings 4, then 5.. my screen looks more yellowish. The red went away thank you now its more yellow.. Any help would be great. Maybe my Clamp settings are different than Crusin USA?
i cant thank you enough for posting this video.. i had tried adjusting the clamp settings to get this problem taken care of even though i had no idea what clamp settings were but i didnt go below 50 and obviously it did not work so i ordered a new converter thinking it was bad but new board did same thing.. mine is same machine as yours, must be an issue with this machine because none of my other arcades have had this issue.. thanks again
This saved my relationship with my girlfriend. I had a Sonic Championship (aka Sonic the fighters) cab in my kitchen for weeks because I couldn't take it to the arcade until it was fixed. Who knew the solution was so easy. Thanks again!
Just tried this board in my Cruisin USA cabinet that I believed was dead, but now I know it is just the monitor. However the washout effect drived me crazy. The manual do mention that this might be required, but didn't know where to start with the values. I will try 04 and 05, and walk it through from there. Thanks!
Hello! Thank you for your videos. I got a Midway Off-Road Challenge cabinet a while back, and recently I got a Crusi'n World board for it. It works with the cabinet, but I have no force feedback (motor works in test menu). There is a slight resistance from the wheel, but that's it. Do I need a separate drive board for Crusi'n World? I was under the impression Off-Road, C-USA and C-World were all compatible. Thanks!
did you find the answer for the feedback?had the same problem with my dedicated exotica, but im thinking that it was all re-configured to play like this...
I'm at the point where my sit down Cruis'n USA and Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy are both ready for cap and flyback replacement. I have one of these boards in my RoboCop, and never knew what clamp options did, but it isn't standard med res either. I'm sure this will save me a ton of time, Tim! My monitors work, but nobody here works on em. Funny...when I go to sell both a 27" and 25" med res monitors that work with their chassis(s)....people who can fix em will come from everywhere. Bummer. I'd rather have the OG tubes.
My friend has EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE with an upscaler on his converted Star Wars Trilogy machine (the back projection screen having been replaced with a 50" LCD TV). Hopefully this will fix it - Thank you
Nice ! Hey is the Cruisn USA Jamma board playable via a supergun WITHOUT THE WHEEL AND PEDALS ? I found the single jamma board super cheap , and I want to use it with a supergun that has the standard DB15 ports on it ( I have a Neo Geo control stick ). I also need to find an all in one box Supergun that plays well with Midway games if you have any recommendations ( looking to play this game and the MK series , probably the Capcom stuff that requires 6 buttons also )... I'm a noob at this stuff : I mainly collect old console games but looking to step up to Jamma - Thanks !
None of the Cruis'n games have analog controls (steering, gas, brake) off of the JAMMA. With a supergun setup and only the JAMMA, you'll get power, video and the start and view change buttons, that's about it. I would Google the final manual of the game and study the wiring diagrams. It will show you what controls come off of what connectors. Maybe you could hack a PC steering wheel and wire the analog controls to the potetiometers? I have a USA sit down machine and 7 Midway V-Unit boards, including Cruis'n World and Off Road Challenge which run on the same V-Unit hardware. (bought them as "untested" on eBay, all of them have problems). I've never tried doing a supergun setup with the game, but good luck!
Got ya , thanks for sharing that info ! I was curious about that - I don't actually own the board but saw it fairly cheap on eBay ( minus the wheel board / assembly )...
Mike Rhoads I see, glad to help. The wheel board is something you don't have to have by the way. The uprights of Cruis'n actually didn't include it for whatever reason.
VCO Needs to be Locked.(TO...Local Osc Freq). Trigger Level Clamping...I dont know Who invented Trigger level clamping for CRT's...But it Worked...Phil...
Good morning .... I have a problem and would be very grateful if you could help me .. I did the same thing in a machine cruis in world. I did the conversion ... but the WIRING pinpings of the board has 5 tracks (r, g, b, gnd, and sync). I connected the board to the gbs 8200 board which has the 5 ways .. I saw that you connected it in the one that has 6 ways ... my question is: With I make with the cables of the board GBS 8200 SYNC H and SYNC V ... being the cable q I have of the game only has the common SYNC .... I need to join the two (sync he sync v) and connect in the sync (unique) of the whip? Thank you and congratulations for the post !!
I ask this because my screen is oscillating a little ... at first it oscillated a lot ... but adjusting for the gbs8200 plate it stabilized. but the screen keeps moving a bit vertically (up and down) little ... but it happens ... and the colors oscillate tbm ... I'm calling the gbs8200 in 5v .... I saw comments to call in 12v .. .. would not ruin the board ... because in the specs it speaks of connecting at 5v + - 0.5V
This Old Arcade (Classic Arcade Machines and Tech Tips) thank you, I was watching this video because I have a similar problem with MK2, instead of pink washed colors like this video, in my case, after a few minutes everything goes too black with clamp settings (ST 04, SP 05) and the other hand goes too white with default clamp settings.. I really don’t know how to fix this.. hope you can help me with this.. I really will appreciate it.
@@thisoldarcade the GBS8200 can run perfectly fine on 5v, infact it's recommended to use 5v for stability. If you're still using this board, you should check out gbscontrol. It's an arduino/esp8266 based firmware replacement that turns the GBS8200 from an average $20 scaler, into a competitive OSSC alternative! One of the best things about the firmware is that it allows you to control the GBS8200 from your PC or your phone, instead of the buttons on the board.
Minha placa da Cruisen world, lê todas as memórias normais, porém não inicia o jogo, Fica reiniciando. Tem alguma dica em qual certo posso analisar esse defeito?
hello, so what is the cost of this setup? Can you play this with wheels and pedals from a normal gaming wheel setup? I like this game so much. On nintendo 64 its not the same......
I have this board with my umk3 and works just as well. thing with this board is u need to adj a setting for it to work with midway boards to work..... lookup YourMKArcadeSource, he has good explination about these conv boards in detail and solution
