the 2nd line has secondary antibodies that can bind to the primary antibodies and show a color as well, it is like a control to see if the stick itself works

2 parts of the test strips Right side: Covered in monoclonal antibodies - specific to hCG + fixed to test tube (can’t move). Left side: (where you wee) Covered in blue beads attached to monoclonal antibodies - can freely move around. Not pregnant: Urine washes blue beads off - going over fixed anti bodies Strip won’t go blue Pregnant: hCG binds to antibodies on blue beads Antibodies move and bind to fixed antibodies. So many blue beads are on strip -> shows up blue
