Yes. I've heard it a thousand times before. It's not their fault for having sensitive information in public view. It's the public's fault if they look at it. That messed up logic basically means you have no responsibility to protect data whatsoever. They can just leave it lying around openly on their tables in open folders or on computer screens visible through the window. If anyone sees it. That person is the perpetrator guilty of a data protection breach. Not them. The data handlers bound by GDPR Only in 2020 when absurd things like being forced to isolate even when You're perfectly healthy and have absolutely no symptoms but because a little cheap plastic testing kit says so does that kind of logic make sense ((in the deranged mind)) Oh and then pc plod only has an issue with the auditor looking at/recording their data Not the fact they give no shi7 and have private data on view. @@randgate exactly. But with a minor change. Training should be provided. After that. The employer is no longer completely responsible. But the negligent incompetent employees. But if training wasn't provided and some sort of test to prove it. Then the onus is totally on the employer I can't agree that the employee is solely responsible for his training. The employer has to assume a responsibility to insure his staff are trained??

@@davepegington9066 Fair point, perhaps the employee should risk losing any moneys above minimum wage (as current legislation forbids employers taking losses that take an employee below that anyway) and so encourage the employer to pay more than minimum wage (otherwise the employee has nothing to lose). Combine that with mandatory third party minimum training, sounds like a winner.
