With Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK, Carlos is creating a heavily anticipated RPG for Switch, PC, PS4 and X1 game Cris Tales in his home country Colombia, where he's been working for all his professional life. With the games, he has participated as an exhibitor in PAX, GDC, E3, Gamescom, IndieCade and other international events presenting his games and the talent of his team.
We'll talk about how to take raw design materials and start experimenting until you find a gold mine, giving birth to new types of mechanics, and mixing them with already established and well liked genres, in this case, the Turn Based RPGs. With the ever present challenges of production, time constraints, and a team getting familiarized with a new type of experience, being able to create a great game is no easy task, much less if said product turns out to be highly anticipated by the international press. This is how an indie studio approaches these design challenges.
