Thanks bruh, I almost bought a new microwave. I found an abandoned microwave by the dumpster and cannibalized the motor assembly and Presto my microwaves working again. The microwave I own is an Emerson the one I found was a Rival. I hope the motor assembly don't matter but when I tried it everything was turning again, thanks again.
This is exactly what our problem was. My husband said we should get a new microwave when the turntable stopped turning, but I KNEW there would be an easy solution on RU-vid! Thanks for taking the time to make the video! Motshekeram :)
+hameed wafa na Aaqaa. Ostraaliaaee hastam valee faarsee harf mizanam. I studied it at the Univ of AZ many moons ago. Today I'm going to fix the microwave! :)
If you are good with your hands, then there is a good chance that you can fix the motor instead of replacing it, although it can be tough to open up the motor. Usually the problem is that the nylon gear, that sits inside the donut shaped magnet, is slipping. Meaning, the magnet is spinning just as it should, but the nylon gear that sits inside the magnet is not moving with the magnet at all. After removing any lubricant on both the nylon gear and the donut, pop the nylon gear back into the donut magnet, but before doing so, add a tad of ultra-bond general purpose adhesive glue inside the magnet to prevent any further slippage. That should fix it. ( Note: Make sure that the 4 bumps on the nylon gear are lined up with the 4 notches on the magnet. )
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. So, I took the motor apart. It had a Doughnut shaped magnet and a nylon gear that sat inside the Doughnut and the Doughnut had 4 tiny notches of which the nylon gear locked on to. But the Doughnut notches were worn down and so only the Doughnut was spinning yet the gear was not. Fortunately, the Doughnut magnet had 4 notches on the other side. So I flipped the Doughnut and then reassembled the motor. It now is up and working again. Repair cost, 0 dollars.
_My Kenmore 721.63252300 microwave stopped spinning! The power and light is on but won't heat or spin! I thought the issue was door switches, i bought them but now don't know how to open and replace the door switches! I don't see anywhere to open the panel to replace those switches. I am not sure if the issue is the door switches or this motor i am seeing on this video! Please help me figure this out. Thanks_
Great video, young man -- and you work very well with one hand. Is it just as easy to replace the light? I stumbled across you by watching the nursing techniques video. Glad I found you there. Keep up the good work!
Thank you much, sir. My Proctor Silex had the identical bottom panel still attached & you showed that it is designed to be cut & separated to gain access. Would you know if a 220v unit can replace a 21VAC/110v motor? I heard it will be ok, but rot 3rpm instead go 6rpm.
Anu Sharma yes you can use clamp meter as well if you know 2 values of motor, by following ohms law, for example motor is 120 VAC and you checked the resistance of 2 windings and it is 2.88 ohms ,when you use your clamp meter it should draw 0.55 amps if more or less the motor is not good , this way it is hard to test it if you dont know the ohms law , ;) i would recommend you to use a cheat wire instead :) easy to test .
