I always liked your videos. Thank you very much for making the video and sharing it. I could not find an exact match for my Turntable motor assembly. So I was forced to overhaul the motor assembly. It was difficult to dismantle with the intention of repairing it to make it usable. My first try failed. I had to redo the entire process all over again and was successful. Keep up the good work.

I just replaced the turntable motor in my 18 yr old Maytag over the range microwave and it was super easy. The cost $26 with shipping included. I was just going to buy a new over the range microwave but seems to be a supply shortage covid maybe. I also didn't want to wait 4-6 weeks on something I like that's out of stock. If I can get another year out of this microwave for $26 Ill be happy. 👍

Thank you so much for the video. I just changed the turntable motor on my microwave all by myself. I have zero experience with anything mechanical or electrical but your directions were perfect. Thanks again.

I replaced the turntable motor on my GE microwave as shown, however, it still doesn't work. Motor has continuity and 21 V are available at the plug. Can you comment on what else could be the problem?

Excellent video! I replaced my motor and it worked for a few test runs, then stopped turning again after I heard a teeny "pop" sound as it was turning. The wiring inside is kind of greasy. Do you think that could be shorting it? Maybe I could buy replacemnt wires, maybe test the motor with a voltmeter, not sure what to do next. Heating/light/display still work fine. Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

What was it
@vero0992

@@TheNyzzler I ended up buying a new microwave on sale. The motors are a little too pricey ($20+) to keep testing if it was going to turn out to be a shorting issue. The microwave was 14 years old and had grease sucked up into the control panel. My gut says it was the microwave but I haven't ruled out a cheap knockoff motor.

Is the orange wire always connected to that side of the motor? I'm hoping to repair my microwave instead of buying a new one and I should've watched what I was doing more carefully.

This repair video may apply to certain models of General Electric, Hotpoint, Monogram, RCA, Sears, and Kenmore. It may have similarities to the repair you're trying to do, but we can't say for sure. We'd be happy to help you locate the correct motor for your microwave model. We may already have a video for that part, and if not, we can advise you on how to go about the repair. We offer free technical advice and diagnosis. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. We will need your model number to give you accurate advice, which you can locate using this tool on our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

One problem about this is that the black will be on the bottom if you drop down the lid, right?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question. If you mean the electrical plug with the orange and black wires, you just need to pay careful attention and make sure that they go back on the same way they came off. To be sure, you can always take a picture with your phone first for reference.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. So, I took the motor apart. It had a Doughnut shaped magnet and a nylon gear that sat inside the Doughnut and the Doughnut had 4 tiny notches of which the nylon gear locked on to. But the Doughnut notches were worn down and so only the Doughnut was spinning yet the gear was not. Fortunately, the Doughnut magnet had 4 notches on the other side. So I flipped the Doughnut and then reassembled the motor. It now is up and working again. Repair cost, 0 dollars.

Your best bet is to go to the forum where they can show you the diagrams. I would look for an access panel on the bottom of the microwave body.

¡Hola!
