Great clear video, but i can't believe you didn't vacuum it while you had it open. It was loaded with dust.

thank you! my parents wanted to replace their fridge for noisy fan, all it was the motor being loose and bumping to bracket... saved a refrigerator in 10minutes!

Thanks for the video. Shouldnt you clean the condensor coils?

yes absolutely. inefficient heat exchange keeps parts running longer and hotter, reducing lifespan

Fast forward 8 years, the repair man says "what noise?" on a brand new just installed refrigerator. Even though its a major problem that a lot of people have with the "eco friendly" bullsh*t models they have now.

My freezer makes a loud buzzing noise, when I open freezer it sounds like it’s coming directly behind the plastic cover. I even “hit” the cover and the noise will stop for a few seconds and than start again. Any ideas?

You need to remove the evaporator cover in the freezer section and verify if the fan is broken or rubbing against something.
@soupflood

Yep, the fan's blades are hitting something. Also, the video uploader doesn't help with the generic replies.

That motor needs a special thin oil on its sleeves. It most likely has brass sleeves surrounded by a cloth (felt) dipped in oil. Within years, that cloth dries up, and the motor squeals, whistles and knocks. If you don't have that special thin oil (not sewing machine or clipper mineral oil, but a certain thin, synthetic oil or 0W5 automotive equivalent) you may use a few drops of oil paint thinner (until you get the special synthetic oil). The oil-bearing cloth may be encapsulated in metal or plastic.

How could you not clean off al;l the dust on the coils while you had the back panel off, terrible service there.

Great video, thanks for sharing this. Any chance that the source of the problem is the faulty motherboard that is controlling the condenser fan?

the noise I am hearing sounds like the Pillsbury Doughboy or a dog squeak toy. it lasts a few seconds after I open and close the refrigerator door. - is this the type of sound that is indicative of this repair?

Clean the shaft of the motor. Mine had hair around it. Fixed it. Also swapped the grommets from back to front (no difference). Oiling didn't help.

I blew out the dust , sprayed contact cleaner and WD-40 onto the fan and fan motor and the squealing stopped.
@PutYourQuarterUpGaming
@PutYourQuarterUpGaming Год назад
Ya, so didn’t have WD-40 but got all dust out(15 years at least, don’t think any prior owners ever cleaned her once) have some oil for AC motors etc, once figured it was that motor and saw whole thing held together by two brass screws, popped it open, cleaned out what was left of Og lube, gave what I’m assuming are oil pads a good dousing with new oil, slapped all back together and boom, seems like good as new. Get new part for it tmmrw but holiday today so store closed and simply could not handle another night of that squeal.

this fan should be less than $100...at most, so it should not be expensive, unless they are some crooked tech...
@paullee1603
@paullee1603 3 года назад
@@DerekP2050 The evaporator fan motor and parts may be ~ 100, but the cost of labor for a tech coming out is at least 200!
