Geal Charn Monadhliath Munro

I headed towards Aviemore on route to Newtonmore where i was going to be taking on the 3 Monadhliath munros but as i got to the car park at the starting point the weather wasn't looking good and this a longer day out so i made the decision to head to the western most of the monadhliath munros Geal Charn as this is a single munro and is fairly straight forward . i would say it wasn't the most impressive mountain as more grassy and peaty big rounded hill and had to be the most boggiest i had been in with all the water and snow melting adding to the bog.

Nice one Ally, I remember that one well. I camped at the parking spot but had to dismantle a 4 man tent at around 3am as I thought the tent was gonna collapse in the strong winds. Sat in the car till daylight then headed up in strong winds and bucketing rain at the end.😂😂 so you had my sympathy there mate.👍🤣 Still a good edit Ally.👍 ATB Frank

Think this is definitely a summer mountain Frank. That wee bit at the bridge would be a cracking spot for camping aswell but didn't sound like it was for you that night Frank 🙉 has to be the boggiest mountain so far was falling and slipping all over . Fingers crossed this weather picks up but still not looking good this weekend again. ATB ALLY 👍

Nice 1 Ally. Some cracking views ehen you were just out the cloud base, looked amazing bud, love the drone footage over the loch at the end, nice day out bud even in the bog lol. Good job 👏 😊

Not the best of walks tam with all that bog but still managed to have a good day out , the views just below the cloud level were great with the darker colours and the snow capped tops, was great to get some drone shots as ifs a nice glen up there. Atb Ally 👍

Stunning views, mate , class drone footage 👏 walking in that bog is a nightmare 🤦‍♂️ pity there were no views from the top but can't win them all, I did this munro along with A'mharconaich a couple of years ago. Very enjoyable 🙌 It's always a pleasure watching your videos mate , keep them coming 🏔🤜🤛

Thanks David great to here you are enjoying the videos , this was a plan b as the weather wasn't looking good for the other 3 munros so thought just do the one but was really boggy to start with but still was glad to get out keeping fingers crossed the weather will change soon this weekend not looking good either 😢 hopefully get out if not to bad. Nice one Ally typical it clears when you are back at the bottom. It's a lovely drive up there, once sat at that bridge watching 4 eagles circling above. Big boggy lump similar to our local hills The Cheviots, still enjoyed tagging along as always. Atb. Mick.

Always happens Mick clears when you get back down, still got good views on way up , enjoyed the drive up through the glen really nice drive. It's a very boggy mountain but would be a good one in the summer, and it's really straightforward. Atb Ally 👍

Hi Alan thanks again this weather has been brutal fingers crossed for some good weather soon, this is a great one for a easier day out in a stunning area but leave it to the summer let it dry out a bit will be more enjoyable walk I was slipping and falling all over 😀. Atb Ally 👍

Definitely keep this one for the summer. donny, it's a really straightforward mountain, and the drive up the glen to the car park is a nice drive as well. Good wee spot for an overnighter. ATB ALLY 👍

Great drone footage. Been a very wet start to the year. Still great to get out into the fresh air and clean out the soul. Best wishes on the next adventure.

Thanks again that has to be the boggiest munro so far with all the rain and snow melting it's not been the best , made the most of it and was still an enjoyable day out really nice area up there fingers crossed for better weather soon got a lot of adventures planned this year . ATB ALLY 👍

Thanks Robert yip plan b came in to action the weather wasn't looking to good in the morning and didn't fancy being away up in the middle of the 3 if the weather got worse. But this one wasn't the greatest either but still enjoyable day slipping falling about 😅 a nice glen up there and nice drive up to the start point. ATB ALLY 👍

Beautiful views, I love that area. My husband and I did the Monadh liath three last August and it was quite boggy then but a great walk. We stayed in our camper van at the end of the road into glen Banchor.

Thank Jennifer it is a beautiful area the drive in to Geak Charn was great. But it really was boggy think made worse with the snow melting would be a good one in the summer and the we car park at the Bridge would be good for staying over. Looking forward to getting the other 3 done probably wait till the summer hopefully not be to boggy by then and do a overnight in the campervan . Atb Ally 👍

Cracking glen that Ally but a real wet one! I bet a lot of folk end up walking on that track too long at the start! Its easy to miss the wee path down to the river. Not the most glamorous of Munro's but still a great wee day out. Keep the other three for a drier day! They are a boggy mess too 😂😂😂. Brilliant again mate. Paul

I totally missed the path Paul and went up that wee road but was easy enough to get back to the path but that has to be one of the boggiest mountains slipped a few times , think the other 3 will be good for the summer the park up at the bottom looks like a good spot to stay the night. Was a challenge to put footage together for this one as not the most interesting of mountains but still a good wee day out. ATB ALLY 👍

@@Allysmountainwalks6462 yeah there is a good wee parking spot and when I was there there were a few Van's parked. I think the first part of the walk is always wet though! Scuba gear wet! 😂😂😂

Thanks for sharing Ally. We were fortunate enough yo do that one over frozen ground... doesn't firm up until about half way up the main bulk. Not one I'd fancy doing again 😂

Hi Kevin thanks for viewing the video , it's one on those ones I am just glad to get done as think I could be boggy most of the year round was a lot better higher up , didn't get any views up top but the views further down still were pretty good so wasn't a wasted day was still enjoyable even with all the slipping and falling in the bog 🤣. Good stuff Ally, nice quick day out. I'm tempted to try and get this one and Meall Chuaich done in a morning and afternoon, just to save on the fuel for 2 separate trips. Will deffo save for the end of a dry spell though, looked squelchy.

Andy this must be the boggiest mountains I have been on but still glad to get out as the weather not been great, but is a quick one straight up and down, but definitely do it in the summer give the ground time to dry out bit. Meall Chuaich is a really quick one aswell and can be even quicker if you bike from the lay buy to the start . Atb Ally 👍

A tick box excercise for this one Ally. I did all the Monadhliath Munros over 2 days a few years ago back. In height of summer and still a boggy mess! Still a good day out. You will enjoy the other 3 when you get to them. Cheers and ATB. Andrew

Thank Andrew like you said one of those ones you just get done and tick of not the most interesting of mountain walks but still an enjoyable day out even in the bog. Looking forward to getting the other 3 dine but will wait to we get some better weather and do an overnight in the camper atvyhe wee carpark at the start point. ATB ALLY 👍

Thanks Kev a real boggy mountain but still an enjoyable day , think the other 3 will be good in the summer and do an overnight in the van good wee carpark to stay over at , was tricky with the clag still had to use the garmin the big rounded hills are harder to navigate in the clag . Atb Ally 👍

Dave was glad i decided to ditch the other 3 as would rather do them in the summer now, but this one was still ok just a tad boggy 🤣 but still enjoyed getting out a nice glen up there. Atb ally 👍

Not the best one this as you say Ally but easy enuff.I done this one in winter when a lot of the bog was frozen.Don't know if u manged to see out any of the clag at the summit ,but was so disappointed with the view at the top as there is a bloody windfarm that sits about 100 metres below the summit and totally spoils it. Enjoy the bog at the start and end of the other 3.😂😂👍

Has to be the boggiest one yet Andy but glad to get it done its been on the list for a while, and I think in the winter or summer would be a good one for an easier day out. I never seen a thing from the top but I did see the wind farm on the way up does spoil the views. Going to do the other 3 in the summer probably stay over at the wee car park looks a good spot. That was one of those days Brian you just think let's just get it done and it's another one done but turned out to be a decent day after all didn't think I was going to get much footage to put together but ended up not bad. It's a really nice drive in to it enjoyed that and getting the drone up was a bonus 👌. This weekend not looking good again 😪 hopefully the next couple of weeks it start to change. Atb Ally 👍
