At this power level the 5 speed just isn't going to work even if its face plated ,unless you tried it you just wouldn't understand,autos are hard to beat when you get into 10's and quicker,let alone the no prep surface they where on but the fox did pretty good with what he was working with,3 pedals is still fun to drive tho
Sheeeet only way a fox 5.0 is beating any vette is to build one up to.I remember being young & my 5.0 fox struggled to beat the 93style Lt1vettes & i had a b303 cam,edelbrock rpm intake,pullys,exhaust & 355 gear,motorsport clutch to help.
It's not always about be the fastest, but rather it can be more about the enjoyment of the ride. Many cars today will beat these iconic sports cars with ease, both off the line and lengths to the finish line. I drive a BMW 335xi, and although it can be enjoyable to drive(When not broken down with expensive repairs), I would.much rather have a 1992 Mustang GT with automatic(Standard doesn't thrill me as much as it may have back in the 90's) or OBS Ford Truck(Have a 94' F250 460 but want a powerstroke for fun as well).

who said the 440 is stock. A dinosaur with 700 hp then add a 300 shot NOS and weighing about 2950lbs. Dana rear 488's. More torque than three mustangs combined.
I put a turbo on a stock 440 and will produce way more power. But different race classes. That stock 292 won't last long bottom end wise with that turbo.
Mu superbee is a mid 10 second car. So if your Ford is in that time bracket it would be a fun race. NO NOS, just racing fuel and a 1350 holley dominator.
I would need to use NOS to compete with those mid 9's. And shed some weight. My does mid's 10 N/A. That's a whole second, don't think I could hit those numbers without a lot of juice.
