I don't get it. What is the speed ratio of an input gear with 36 teeth meshed to a gear with 20 teeth? The only answers are A9:5 B 1:0.56 C1:1.8 Using your formula I've got 4:7 ??? What am i doing wrong ?
I want to convert sprocket to sprocket with chain to pulley to pulley with cog belt, is there a conversion calculator anywhere that I can input the chain info & get the equivalent ratio in a pulley setup?
the formula remains the same (output teeth over input teeth) but of course the gear ratio will be reversed (8:5 instead of 5:8) but not because you changed the formulas but because you physically changed the input and output gears
I guess its the same with pulleys? Except the ratio would be circumference output / over circumference input? But is the measurement taken from the outer diameter or the inner diameter of a v belt..
If less teethed driven (output) gear messed with a drive (input) gear mean more roation of output gear? That is what I understood. Pls Correct me if I am wrong.
Is out/in out:in really convention? I'm given a ratio and an output, and I'm being told to multiply them together to get an input... That doesn't look right!!
in simple terms: we are trying to write 25/40 in a simpler way ( and easy to visualize and understand), both numbers 25 and 40 can be devided by the same number 5 .
You can divided by 10 too, if you want. That will give you 2.5:4. Means every two and half rotation of input gear is equal to 4 rotation of output gear, which is exatly 5:8
