The zipper issues with this tent are incredibly frustrating. I pulled the trigger and bought it (even after watching your video), but after taking it out in the rain twice already I can confirm that the zippers stick to the rainfly 100% of the time. You can guide the flaps out with your hand as you did on the video, but this is not so feasible with you're unzipping it from within the tent (using the inside rainfly zippers). I am stil ltrying to figure out a solution to this, but no luck so far. This is by far the best video about this tent btw, and I'm happy you took the time to record it!

This is the best clip that I have seen for TNF Stormbreaker II. This is my third one. I like this color and the canopy rainfly. I love TNF zipper at ease compared to the most expensive tents. I have no issues with the zipper. I use my index finger and thumb on the zipper to prevent the rainfly flap gets caught in the zipper. I have looked for a gear loft for a long time, but they are made of mesh. However, this NRS Hydrolock solves my problem! I can watch a movie in the tent. I can't wait for my tent to come in the mail. Good job on the video!

Adding on to your comment about the vestibule being awesome on this tent - it’s super easy to accommodate those with mobility issues getting into this tent. My mother and I have used this tent together many times and despite her having a bad back, folding up that middle flap makes it easy for her to get in, whereas I usually crawl in through the side opening. We even had our elderly dog with us inside this tent, and it was toasty and dry on a cold, windy and rainy night.

Great sale on this at REI right now. I couldn't decide on the 2 person or 3 person, so I bought both, lol. I'll donate whichever I don't want to a fundraiser.

Thanks for a really great review. I've decided to get back into hiking, backpacking and camping now that I've retired. My work schedule simply didn't allow it. But now, I'm looin' for gear.

This is the cheapest good tent money can buy that actually does well in heavy rain or windy spots... The name is deserved It's a bit heavy and the pack size is large but the construction and tent poles are quality... You'll just have to live with that zipper issue at this pricerange everything can't be perfect

Just got this one a few days ago, did a test set up and was built up in about 12 min. very easy :-) (Normally i sleep in a 3 pers. Nordisk tent) Sinc i do my trekkings in Spanish pyrenees i`ve got way more sturdy pegs up to the twisted ones. The water collecting issue is good to inform about, in past had a tunneltent and had the same issue, with really heavy rain several days it started dropping a bit into the inside. Will get some liquid for that later on. For many years i`ve put up a dome tarp, for sure i`ll use the tarp for cooking underneat if rain heavy eather is going on. The part i`m going for is Picos Europa and is proven the most rainy area in Europe :-) Anyways feels good going into the mountains with the Stormmbreak. The video gave me a good impression bout the pro`s / con`s of this tent. So thnx for the clear review!

De nada! I'm glad you found it really helpful! Seems like you have a lot of experience with various tents as well and it's great comment to see where others are also experiencing similar concerns! I hope you have a great time with your adventures! I'm envious of all the great mountains you get to see!

Just got back some days form Spanish Pyrenees, South of France. On camp site Spain had pretty stormy weather included with rain, hail, i can say now, no issue for the stormbreak. i attched on the ouside loops extra stormlines so i can use them too when necessary :-) You where right on rainwater at the roof of the tent but dont think that is going to be a problem later on. Next year first job on site is to seal all the seems. Love the loops in innertent, made a square so i could hang my stuff on them, keeps the tent neat :-) Used a 3 layered footprint protection for innertent, slept many years ago in an +inch of rainwater :-) Stormbreak is the one i`ll use for upcoming years in Spanish mountains, anyways we`ve got another year of training to be prepared for some mountain trekking :-) Absolutly worth the price!

@@leogasper9109 Sorry for late reply, but thank you for the follow up! I'm glad to hear there was no issue for the storm break and took advantage of the guy-lines extra loops. And wow! What an experience! an inch of rain water - must've been some foul weather. Glad the tent worked out for you, though! :)

Awesome review! very helpful :) I do have a question. Is it possible to fit in two people and the bagpack too? Thanks
@explorationsevo
@explorationsevo Год назад
Hey! Good question! A backpack? Yes. I would suggest no bigger than 30 litre day pack, in the tent. But for a 75 litre that's half full of gear, it may not be very possible unless you use it as part of your sleep system. One side of the vestibule could be use for storage for larger packs and longer trips. Let me know if this helps!

Nice review! How well does air pass through this tent? I’m camping in the summer in Texas and Oklahoma and wondering if I can stay somewhat cool in this.

I was wondering the same thing. I did not see any vents on the rain fly. Might be a problem. Maybe for fall and winter. 70 degrees make tents a sauna!!! Lol
@roody9986
@roody9986 8 месяцев назад
The rain fly is an absolute pain in the ass, but the stormbreaker 2 price tag and the quality somewhat outweight it.

Do you recommend the stormbreak 2 or stormbreak 3 for one person and dog
@explorationsevo
@explorationsevo Год назад
I would recommend the 2. Admittedly, I haven't tried the Stormbreak 3, but having a 3 person tent with another brand was pretty roomy, even with 2 people and a pup. When I camped with my pup (shep-lab), she was always right next to me and a 2 person tent would have been enough. I would imagine there'd be enough room for a backpack and a pup in the Stormbreak 2. Hope this helps!

How does this tent do in warm climates with rain fly up? Don’t see any venting on the rain fly itself?
@explorationsevo
@explorationsevo Год назад
Yah, good question. Not having used this in super hot weather (just by circumstance), but noting the ventilation (or lack of), I'd say it'd still be pretty hot. While there's good amount of mesh on the inner wall, I think the heat will keep, especially if it's humid and stagnant air. However, having the ability to pull up both doors would be helpful to create a small wind tunnel, if pointe in the right direction. Hope this helps enough! :)

Can I use it in the cold winter?
@explorationsevo
@explorationsevo 7 месяцев назад
The tent can be used in winter. The vents could exhaust the interior so mitigate the moisture build up, resulting in less frozen condensation in the morning. But that also means a little more heat loss. I don't think the poles themselves could withstand huge amounts of snow as it seems like rain does collect and snow would definitely also stay. Having said this, I have not yet used it in the winter, only shoulder season.

The zippers on the doors are the downfall of this tent. For a little more weight and packing size the Stormbreak 3 is a lot better.
