I never understood why the locust only have two normal guards trying to restrain a near indestructible monster that can bust through walls with little effort, at least get some boomers for the job man

I remember being a child and the berserker scaring me to literal death. I stood in one spot for half an hour psyching myself up like "YEAH. I GOT THIS. I CAN DO IT" and still cried a lil. The berserker will always hold a special place in my heart

Fun fact: The Berserkers were originally going to have animations where they would knock the player to the ground and then tear them to pieces like they did to Gyules, but, the game developers thought that they were too brutal (Even for Gears of War) and they were cut from the game. There were even stories about the animation team having to take breaks between creating the animations because they were so jarring.

1:28 This part has always terrified me. Even now, I still get scared by the fact Gyules got ripped to shreds.

One little thing that sold the relationship between the Gears was at the last bit of interaction, after the berserker died. When Baird calls Marcus a jackass, Dom's instant reaction is to angrily step towards Baird, and Cole's own reaction is to stop him, immediately diverting the conversation away from confrontation. Also, Marcus was also clearly stepping in to stop Dom, showing he had already assumed command and was heading off an argument in the unit that was now his. A lot shown in only a few seconds. Great scene.

We all remember that moment where the Beserker was charging you, and you tried to dodge out of the way but instead ended up jumping straight at the Beserker and got steam rolled.

Personally one of my biggest "Oh shit!" moments while playing GOW.

Studying the shadow, it looks like Gyules had his torso ripped from his hips and legs, then his arms ripped off, both of them, then his guts ribs and spine ripped out before finally his head pulled off and thrown. And he was alive the whole time until his head came off!

I remember getting chills the first time I encountered the Berserker. The remastered version brought back those same chills, but this time, it's been enhanced ten time plus!

hahahaha I'll never forget the first time my friend and I saw this monster rushing us back when the first Gears originally came out. We were both like "Oh shit...". As he stampeded in our direction I got out of the way and my friend was too stunned to react and got turned into chunky soup. Thus ended our first encounter with the beast.

I miss campaigns like this, different strategies, destructive environments , made you play the game a little different every time instead of reaching for a switch every 10 mins cough halo 4 and 5 cough! And that was almost 15 years ago!!

First time I encountered this part, I fell in love with it. Me and my cousin played it again and again on Hard mode for the pure fun of it. At least one time, I made it through the door but my cousin was too busy running from the Berk. I laughed so hard watching him run past the door on the other side only to have the Berserker right in tow. He did that several times before he ducked into the first room. Ah Berserker, My Love for You is Like a Truck.

When I was 10 years old, I watched one of my friend (who was a year or two older than me) played this exact level. It was my first introduction to mature contents in video games and seeing the blood splattering all over the wall from the cog soldier body by the breserker, and that horrible screaming and running by the bresker. I didn't feel good to my stomach and felt light headed. When I went home, I threw up in my friends yard and I think again in the corner of my room.....those were good times

For all of the moments you felt like a super powerful bad ass in the series there some moments where you could feel so damn small and insignificant. This was one.

This boss literally scared me playing this when I was in 4th grade , the tighter hallways and knowing the thing can kill you easily , this mission creates such a scary atmosphere and you can even feel the dread of the berserker walking around

I remember playing this with my brother, I could not do this part because it reminded me of the clicker from the last of us (I played the ultimate edition, not original) so I litterly just stood still, he said that if I did that, I was gonna die. Eventually I just got off for the berserker part and then I came back after, I did the second berserker part tho, scared me shitless, and the third was fucking easy

This fight on the hardest difficulty as a first-time run through on co-op was one of the best 'Oh shit' moments I can ever think of.

I like the original cutscene from GoW better maybe because after the guy was ripped to shreds the way they all walk back and dom was like "oh shit" it looked like they had more fear for the berserker.

This mission was so difficult back in the day, the actual berserker wasn’t scary. But getting caught on a piece of debris while she sprinted towards me, had me scared shitless.

0:43 I don’t know if this is correct but after knowing Judgement’s storyline it makes sense that Marcus would take a second to look at the man that actually saved his life with humanity’s trump card.

Old memories! This berserker used to give me a lot of creeps before when i was a kid! I gotta say it still is!

Oh hell, I remember having to co-op bullfight this nightmare, I can't count the number of times my brother would try to roll out of the way right into one of the pillars and get plowed, I would always accidentally take cover on the wall instead of roll and get mauled.

This is one of those scary sub bosses that always keeps you on edge

That Berserker was really frightening . My heart throbs so fast when I play this part. Not only you fight one Berserker, but you fight 3 of 'em in the game.

I love the remaster of this scene, but I think the original is kinda more frightening because in the original the COG gear's screams sound more agonizing and painful and it looks like it's just folding him over and over again

The first time I played Gears was also the first time I encountered the Berserker… in 2007 when I was nine, my dad was at work so I asked my mom if I could play his Xbox; she said yes and took a nap with my baby brother. I booted it up beyond excited to play it, and decided to play the part where the second berserker encounter happens in the greenhouse, which I had no idea would happen. The description has always stuck with me: “Enjoy the local flora and fauna.” Needless to say I was scared as shit and after dying several times I just played another part lol. 14 years later I’m still playing Gears!!
