I took my Language Arts GED test today. I've been watching your videos, especially this one since writing the essay had me a little nervous. I got a 5 out of 6 on my essay, and a total score of 170! Thank you for the videos, they have helped me so far, and not only on this test, but I also passed my Math and Science test. One more to go.
I passed my RLA yesterday and I just wanted to share my experience with essay. I was expecting to have two articles for each argument. Instead I had one article with the arguments kinda mixed up together throughout the article. For example in one paragraph there were two sentences about one argument and the third sentence was about the other argument. It was strange. Neither argument had any stats or specific evidence really so it was kinda difficult to pick 3 reasons for the body paragraphs. 1 argument was more opinionated than the other, and that's what I built my essay on. I got 3/6 score on the essay so I must've done something right. Hope that made sense and good luck everyone!
Passed my language arts test today on the first try. I’ve watched every video you have over the last two days and it really helped me accomplish my goal. Thank you for everything!!!
Please can u tell me how many questions were there on the grammar plus the reading side and was RLA REALLY THOUGH ??? AM GOING THROUGH REALLY A HARD TIME ... could u tell me what to do or work on ? Also how about the essay ????
Did any of you pass? I just started studying a bit and doing the social studies this Tuesday. You have 3 tries so there isn’t a lot of pressure the first go around.
I will do my writing test in two days, I’m so stressed out! And thank you Cohan for this video, your voice and suggestions encourage me. Hopefully I will pass it🤞
Thank you for the motivation and encouragement!! I'm going for my ged soon,I'm just trying to prepare my brain with skills that I lost over time. So thank you for your help.
I already took it 3 times and I haven’t passed it getting 136,137 ,143 but I just came across your and I think imma pass it now I was going through something but now I feel better and ready to try my best and put my effort everyday now imma watch every video you have and imma study now fr fr with the ged book and everything . Imma pass this test Friday coming up .thanks brother imma watch your videos
The GED language arts question is not always the same question, every time you fail and retry it’s different every time, so be prepared for different questions, but the same concept apply to every questions.
Sir can u make a video about how to note or spot the 3 reasons it is really hard and i dobt know how to.Sometimes both give good evidance but i dont know which to pick.. please help!!!
Harry Chen not tough at all. Try to find something that related to facts or scientific studies. That can be one of your thesis. Find the negative thing from other article to be your second point why the article you chose is a better one. Then, do one more advantage from your the article which looks like the same as the video one. You end with a decent conclusion. I believe you can get at least 4/6
Hello David, I'm looking for someone to 'critique' and 'grade' my essay writing in advance of taking the GED RLA portion. Is this something you offer or could you recommend someone? My goal is not to 'pass', but to get a 'perfect' score. The few places I have seen that offer this service do not seem to speak English as a first language and the guidance they offer is minimal. I would appreciate any advice you could offer. Thank you for your videos, they have been extremely informative. Looking forward to your guidance regarding an essay prep review. Thank You
The essay isn’t really hard as you think. The introduction is pretty easy then the body paragraphs you just gotta look for evidence like facts, date studies, or data. Then the conclusion is pretty easy like the introduction. Last time I took it I didn’t even finish till like the 3rd paragraph and I still scored 2/6 but ended up with a 144. Lol
So in the essay we only state who has the better argument ? Based on their evidence. Is it necessary to mention the one who doesn’t have a better argument. ??
I did a portion of the writing and there is no way I didn't get anything there I did it twice I got 136.137 what does it mean with that 0/2 3 times?? I
Yes, they do. It's at the end of your score report, which you can access on ged.com. (Your essay on the Ready test, though, isn't graded and doesn't factor into your Ready test score.)
In another video that is actually on the official GED Testing Service youtube channel, they say that you are supposed to use formal language. The argument could really be about anything.
Here's a little tip I always learned in English class R.E.S.T meaning RESTATE, EXPLAIN, SUPPORT, TIE IT UP. Meaning restate the question, explain why you feel that way, give supporting quotes from the test a finally wrap you essay up.
I have a question please In the ged ready exam, do the count the score for an essay even they did not give us score report? Any one have an idea please respond
No, the essay isn't scored on the Ready test. Shakespeare himself couldn't get any points on the essay. (Of course, it is scored on the real RLA exam....)
@@mistercohensclass can I send you my eassay to score it ? If I got 150 on the ready it means only for multiple choice? Thank you for your response I can’t believe that I got the answer to my question
I passed the test with a score of 153, but earned 0/6 points on the written response portion. This is all the stuff they said I did wrong. Lmk if this helps someone… “Your written response was scored on how well you can (1) create a well-supported argument, (2) organize your thoughts and (3) use English language effectively. See below to find out how well you did on the written response. Creating Arguments & Using Evidence Score: 0/2 To improve your score for this set of skills, you should include the following elements: * More evidence from the source text(s) * More ideas to support your response's argument * Greater analysis of the issues or arguments * Better-established connection to the original task Development of Ideas & Organizational Structure Score: 0/2 To improve your score for this set of skills, you should include the following elements: * More fully developed ideas * Clearer connections between main ideas and details * An organizational structure that supports the overall meaning of your response * Ideas that transition smoothly from one to the next * Language that is more formal and uses words correctly to enhance the meaning of your response * Fewer ideas that are expressed in vague terms Clarity & Command of Standard English Conventions Score: 0/2 To improve your score for this set of skills, you should avoid the following elements: * Repetitive, choppy, and rambling sentences * Run-on sentences * Sentence fragments * Comma splices Also, you should continue to develop the following language-usage skills: * Correct subject-verb agreement * Correct pronoun usage * Correct capitalization * Correct punctuation * Other skills listed in the "Clarity and Command of Standard English Conventions" rubric trait”
Sí! Tienes la opción de tomar la prueba en español. Para escribir el ensayo en español, debe tomar la versión en español-- es decir, el resto del GED también tendría que ser en español. No puedes mezclar/combinar/cambiar.
Your teaching method works well for me. These other videos don’t seem to keep my attention I think it’s because you sound a lot like this video game RU-vidr I watch called rad brad👍👍👍
the GED people are definitely just trying to profit off of people who didn't graduate. making you pay for each test separately, making you pay for practice tests, and making you pay for them to actually look at your essay.
Not exactly BUT, this part of the RLA test is probably the easiest portion to pass so let's say a person doesn't do very well in the other area's of RLA (because the test asks many multiple choice questions twice yet phrased differently to challenge critical thinking) this part could be their ace in the hole to pass.
@@michellegriff13 you're right! Lol I can just be an ass sometimes.... anyway I just took the RLA test and skipped the essay because I can't type. Why waste 45mins of my life... lol I skimmed through part one and still was able to pass. I am pretty sure the essay is only between 12% and 20% tops
